I too paid over $400 for Mimi to tree braid my hair. When I asked her for the color brown, she stated that was considered highlights and was $25 extra. I was leaving out of town the next day and had no time to get another hairstylist the same day, so I paid up. I began to lose my braids within one week. I had not wet my scalp or even sprayed my hair within the first week. I had many braids around my edges that had slipped one to 2 inches. Others fell out. I had to reinstall them myself. When I contacted her to let her know this, she says that she advertises that you will lose some braids. I have yet to find that in writing anywhere on her page or any of her web links. She also tried to say that my hair was really soft and that's why it would not hold the braid and that I should try to use some hairspray to keep the braid in place. Ridiculous! I also have many braids that have my hair exposed. So, again, she advertises that your hair is not exposed, but braided down to the end. When I text her to advise her of this, she never responded. My braiding hair also began to get extremely tangled and very dry, even though I sprayed it daily, after waiting a week, with water and conditioner, mixed with a little bit of oil. I was careful to only spray the curly hair and not the base of my head. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. The other reviews are totally true. I wish I could warn people on Instagram, but the post would just be deleted. I really don't want people to spend money with her. If I pay $400, my braids should last for at least four weeks.

I am usually extremely picky, complicated, and hard to please when it comes to hairstyles. I am the type it usually takes 3-4 days at least to appreciate a new hairstyle l have going on. But as soon as she finished (even before she finished) l was totally digging the style. She was extremely accommodating and also knowledgeable. I sent her pictures of a brand l have never tried before saying it would be the one l wanted as l saw videos about it on YouTube and pictures on Pinterest. I was not even sure where to find them as it was already super late the night l called her and l wanted to get my hair done the next morning. She, not only, recommended a beauty supply near her place that would be open and where l could find it, but also explained to me that she doubted the extension l wanted would last and instead recommended another brand with curl patterns similar to the picture l sent her. And let me tell you the brand she recommended lasted beyond my expectations and looked exactly like what l wanted. You know that sometimes you have an idea, a really vague idea of what you want, but do not know how to make it happen or how to get it, or even what you need to make it happen. In those cases you need that person who could almost "read your mind" and organize your thoughts, bringing them to life. Turning it into something wonderful that goes even beyond your expectations making you think "Dang! I wanted something that good? Oh wow! How did she know?". She is that person. I was planning to keep my crochet for 4 weeks. I made it to 6 weeks (dont worry people l was still shampooing as needed). I went shopping on Sunday of the sixth week after church and 2 ladies were talking about me. One came up to me and said she looooooooved my hair and wanted to know where l got it done. She took contact information, gave me hers so l can send it to Nachi in case she couldn't find the phone number later (she was at work and didn't have a phone). I was thinking about taking down the hair that day, but decided to keep it another week. Honestly it was still looking super good even at 7 weeks. I just wanted a little break which is why l took it down. My first experience 4 years ago with crochets was a huge disaster and l have never tried it again till this past May (and it was also not good at all but mainly due to a bad choice of extensions, and l wished that hairstylist would have known better and warned me like Nachi did). I almost totally gave up on crochets... until l met Nachi. Now l will make sure to stop by her place at least 2-3 times a year. I will also make sure to always recommend her whenever l can. When I walked in & asked for pricing for a basic wash n retwist he said $105 + $25 for a first time client consultation. Total= $130. I had to pay a $20 deposit while booking my appointment. I come back for my appt & he charged me $120 before he even got started. =$140. the so called consultation was literally him checking my scalp for all of 60 seconds, only to tell me that I have a healthy scalp. He explained that most of his clients have thinning or scalp issues. He said my locs were healthy. Don't understand why I had to pay $25 just for that?? Then I realized he overcharged me. His excuse was he's had a long day. He then proceeds to the wash bowl. The wash was fine .. but apparently he was doing his girlfriends hair at the same time.. who had a mean unwelcoming face and vibe. She seemed annoyed that he had a client, while he was doing her hair as well. It was the fastest retwist I've ever had in my life! No clips, no sitting under a hair dryer.. and I know my hair.. when it's not completely dry, some of the sections will poof up. He said since he dried my hair with some blue Wyall paper towels, that that should take care of any wetness. I told him I was going out & had somewhere to be.. I wanted my hair to look good. Nope, said he didn't need to put me under the dryer, cuz my hair would air dry.. my hair was damp as hell. Mind you this is at 9pm at night during cold weather season.. it's December for cryin out loud. Then I told him, I want a half up-half down style. He starts doing all this crazy stuff to my hair-- clearly not listening to what I wanted. I had to reiterate to him twice that I didn't want whatever freestyle bullcrap that he was doing to my hair. The whole time his snarling lookin girlfriend was standing over me.. saying "I thought you said you wanted it going back", " He's doing what you want him to do".. she kept giving her remarks when HE was the one doing my hair. I felt so uncomfortable!! It got to the point where I said you "you know what at this point, I'm just ready to go". Sean changed my hair 3x with it still being damp, neck was cold as hell, hair was already frizzing up.. I wanted to get the hell outta there. The salon is located less than a mile from the busy intersection of Rockbridge and Lawrenceville Hwy - they were easy to find (right next door to Dollar General). You know I like pros / cons lists - so I'll do that here: Pros Lisa is funny, sweet, talented and knowledgeable about hair. She's also FAST. Took her 2 hours exactly - and she used a method I'd never experienced prior but the final product was the same if not better. And she's patient and doesn't get all "attitudey" like some stylists. Lol. She didn't even really give me the side-eye I usually get from stylists when I got a little high maintenance on her. To note: 1) I was late for the appointment, 2) I balked at using the #1B hair she'd purchased - because I really wanted the #1 color we'd discussed prior and 3) I told her that I was going to wait in the car because the combination of heat and aerosol being used on the client next to me was giving me the runny-eye (yes - I'm a delicate flower). In addition, all staff and clientele were friendly - everyone said hello when I walked in - making me feel welcome and totally at ease (which we know is not always the case at salons). I was told about all promotions (including some great ones for back-to-school and massages.) Cons This probably shouldn't even be a con - because if I were in her shoes - I would probably do the same thing - but this goes back to the hair thing. She told me she was going to purchase hair in advance, but when I arrived (45 minutes late) she still hadn't purchased the hair and left me waiting at salon to go purchase it - THEN because they were out of stock - came back with a different color. But - I'm thinking because I was a new client - she probably had no idea whether I'd actually show up or flake out on her - so that might have been the reason she didn't go ahead and purchase hair in advance. The salon is cute - but she did mention they were going to be making changes with the interior. I came in wanting medium size knotless. Upon my arrival, Amy looked over my hair and asked if she could make a suggestion. Since my hair is really fine and especially on my edges, she suggested a smaller box braid. She told me she would do a few so i could see how they look. After a few i was ok with the switch up. Then she asked if i wanted some color. I can't lie, i had been wanting to try color for some time. So i said yes! POST BRAID REVIEW! Went from 4 stars to 2! The braids were…read morepretty and all but they ripped my hair out!! I blame the "knotless" method they use for their knotless braids. They just put tiny knots in your hair and it still pulls and tangles up so bad there was no way to save my hair during the removal. Entire pieces of my hair came out at the roots! Will not be back!! Beware!!!
