I am thrilled and delighted with my hair! I had a medium warm brown base color with a lot of highlights ranging from Auburn to strawberry blonde. I really did not like the color or the highlights and wanted to move to a deeper color with face framing chunky highlights. I thought my hair looked orangey or brassy, and I want to get rid of that brassiness. I had recently colored my hair and had a GK Keratin treatment so I wanted to find a GK provider and have color work done without making my hair dry or so brittle that it would break. That was definitely a risk with having more color done so soon. I was lucky to have a next day appointment with Christina, the owner of the salon. She took her time with me on the phone the day before, and even asked me to send her photos of my "inspiration" for the look I wanted to achieve. I sent her photos of my current hair, some inspiration photos for what I wanted to achieve, and a couple of extra photos so that she understood my personality and what would work in a professional environment and get the edgy enough for my outgoing and adventurous personality. SHE NAILED IT!!! I am absolutely thrilled with how my hair looks. She did corrective color and not only took the unwanted highlights out of the crown portion of my hair, but she also added gorgeous, vibrant, deep ruby highlights at the temples and around the nape of my neck so that when my hair moves, that gorgeous ruby color shines through the deep brunette/Auburn base color she put on the crown of my hair. We finished with a GK bombshell Keratin treatment. Although I normally go for a much less expensive treatment where I cannot wash my hair or bend it or put it up for three days, I wanted to be able to quickly wash and style my hair as well as the absolute best possible color lock and hair strengthening treatment. I knew that having corrective color and the GK bombshell treatment would be a significant financial investment. I was delighted to make that investment because for a week I had woken up and looked in the mirror and not like the way I looked from the color of my hair to have a change the tone of my skin to help my make up wouldn't work anymore with the color I had. Since Christina gave me the gorgeous color, edgy highlights, and style that works both in a professional corporate setting as well as let's my adventurous side shine through, I wake up every day to stunning color and super soft, shiny hair. Kristina even gave me a free styling by adding some waves with a curling iron so that I could really see those ruby highlights shining through. It has taken me a week to write this review because I have been waiting for the sun to appear again so that I can show some of that gorgeous color. These photos just don't do it justice so I will try to add more when the sun comes back to Georgia! Let me emphasize that what I wanted for color was very specific and had to fit a lot of criteria and Kristina listened carefully and gave me the color and the style I was looking for. That is no easy feat! Having a stylist who can use the most modern techniques to give you not only a classic style, but color pop that will work both in the office and for special occasions is a must for me. Recommended by a coworker and really close to home, so I thought I'd give it a try. They have online booking (hooray! very convenient) so I booked a cut for after work. From the moment I walked in, I was pleased: I was greeted by a pleasant team member and offered a drink: water, juice, wine. Anyone who knows me knows which I picked... Five minutes later, sipping my wine, my stylist (Frederick but he prefers Peco) collects me and we get started. During the process I find that: Peco knows what he's doing and is very personable, he and his wife own the salon, they do men's and women's styling, they're really involved in community work, and they use only environmentally friendly and cruelty free products. SOLD. I got a great cut, a deep conditioning treatment and will be going back for a keratin treatment soon. This salon is a little gem among the downtown Alpharetta merchants. It's a friendly, relaxed atmosphere in a converted group of (formerly) residential townhomes - plenty of parking in their lot and the adjacent downtown Alpharetta city lot. Cabana Salon's prices are as good or better than competitors' pricing in the area, and the experience is more personable and relaxing. I had recently moved to the Alpharetta from living in Marietta for a long time. My old salon was now over 45 minutes away so I wanted to find something closer. I noticed a sign in front of Cabana that said something to the effect of "specializes in curly hair". I have natural curly hair and have always had a hard time finding someone that understood how to work with curly hair plus I'm very persnickety when it comes to hair, makeup, etc. I thought I would give them a try, and I'm glad I did. I have now visited Christina at Cabana Salon for over six months now. My hair is getting healthier, the color treatments are fun, and I just recently had a Keratin treatment to top it off. Prices are extremely reasonable but the service is top notch. I had to change and adjust my appointment several times and they rearranged their schedule to fit my diva needs. I enjoyed going to cabana salon the atmosphere is quant and comfortable. I went in for a consultation and was sold. Since they focus on healthy hair and my hair needed health. I checked the website for prices and the next time I came Back they had went up which was disappointing but I figured how much can a couple highlights be...? Well I was shocked to find out my services totaled to a whopping $600 dollars and she told me she had put in the 20 percent off discount. I did get an amazing straightening system in my hair. My hair felt like silk. However where I feel I may have been taken advantage of is when she put 3 different highlights in my hair and charged me a lot. She called them peek a boo highlights low lights and regular highlights. My hair came out an orange/ mahagony/ highlighted combination. When I left I liked the color because she lightened me up but after the first wash second and on and on my hair smelt of burnt perm. I looked up the straightening treatment she used on me and the company warns of an after smell once washed and while the hair is wet. My hair still had a slight stinkyness while it's wet. But the straightening was the best part of the whole service. My girlfriends who are hairdressers as well told me I needed a toner that my hair was too brassy. This made me feel like crap seeing as though I just spent $600 plus tip on something other professionals does not think was the best job. I had made an appointment for tape in Extentions because their website claimed a full set would be around $700 I know my hair is thicker than the average person. But when she sent me her quote of $2000 and up I nearly fainted and looked else where. She explained the cost of hair contributed to that price but it was too much for me... All and all I liked who did my hair... I liked the other staff in the building... And I would go back for another straightening service. But unfortunately I don't know if I would go back for color although I feel like she was able to get me lighter. I felt somewhat taken advantage of financially. When it was time to check out she loaded me up with products. I mentioned to her I'm allergic to sulfur. But when I got home the leave in conditioner had sulfur in it. So I gave that to my child. I know you need a proper shampoo system after any straightening system but again I felt like it was absolutely necessary I had to buy their products. Which I do enjoy except I feel the balancing conditioner isn't as hydrating as I would like it to be. I like the serum she sold me. So I am still on the hunt for and Atlanta area hair colorist. The first time I went it was a great experience and then things got sour after that. The attitudes turned very condescending. I noticed when clients expressed disapproval they were bullied and several eventually removed their reviews. The salon went to great lengths to prove how right they were, but multiple clients expressed similar problems: all fees not being discussed up front, being ignored while staff chats away with family members, being scolded for the state of your hair (too dry/oily/split ends/waiting too long between cuts/not using their recommendations on shampoo and styling products/etc). Its not worth it to me, I want to enjoy my experience when I go to a salon. read more

I don't know, I just feel like the experience was a little disappointing. I showed up about 15 minutes early for a 10am appointment, the first appointment of the day, but there was nobody at all at the building; it was completely locked up. I waited at the porch until 10am came, where I received a text message that said the stylist was a going to be a few minutes late. No big deal, but just strange that there was absolutely nobody there 15 minutes, or even 0 minutes, before a client was supposed to be there. Then, at about 5 after 10am when people did start to arrive, they just seemed a little uninterested in tending to the customers waiting on the porch, (there was another customer outside with me, who seemed to be a regular) and instead greeted each other for a few minutes outside. It wasn't anything too dramatic; I just personally found it unprofessional. But, not too long after everyone got there, we went inside and they started on both of us nearly immediately, so not much time was lost; 15-20 minutes at the max, so not unlike a normal waiting time. Just a strange first impression. Other than that, the experience itself wasn't too out of the ordinary. I'm not especially chatty, being on the shy side, but my stylist made small talk with me and was generally pretty sweet and funny. I found that she seemed very displeased with the state of my hair though, lol. Lots of little comments about my split ends, calling them "ugly" a few times, and about how greasy my roots were, while also sharing with me how simultaneously dry the ends are. It wasn't rude exactly... I understand she's a professional and I'm sure that was an accurate description of my hair that morning lol, I just felt that it was a tad excessive; I've had other stylists tell me the same thing, but in a way that didn't leave me feeling scolded. She also seemed displeased that I wasn't sure which shampoo I used, other than something basic from the store, but I accept blame for that lol. I just pick the ones that smell good! Also, I felt like I was playing musical chairs sometimes. They would switch us out at different stations (normal chair/ mirror station, wash area, dryer, ect.) in an unorganized, improvised manner. This was likely due to space constraints, as the area was quite small with room for only about 3 clients at once. Again, not the end of the world, just a little odd. The results of the keratin itself... seems like it's doing what it's supposed to? I'm not sure, this is my first treatment. It's definitely straight (they flat ironed the HELL out of it) but it's also very flat. A little lifeless, even. I'm hoping that will change after a shower and less vigorous flat ironing. On the plus side, it's very smooth, soft, and shiny. They up-charged me $50 extra for having longer hair and I guess for using more product, but without really warning me during treatment. I wouldn't have complained or declined, I just would've rather known before getting to checkout. Before leaving, one of the stylists informed me that if I left a favorable rating here on Yelp, I would receive 50% off a future appointment... Sorry guys, I gotta be honest; it was okay, but I think this was a little below par. Overall, the place is very cute and the staff was kind, though disorganized, and their work seemed to have snagged them several regulars. With the Groupon I bought, the price was fair, even after the additional charge. It's possible that my experience was a little bit of a fluke, as the salon has great ratings here on Yelp, but I think I will be searching elsewhere for my next appointment. read more

I love this salon. Veatra is my stylist and she really takes time to research options for my kinky-curly hair and sensitive scalp. For years I have tried different salons and stylists in hopes of finding one that was patient enough to deal with my rare hair/scalp condition. Well, this place gets it! My very first appointment we went over different treatments, maintenance, and price. The salon is tucked away in the most adorable building and has a cabana beachy feel to it. I had a Keratin treatment with Peco on August 30th, 2016. Exactly 18 days ago. Within 30 seconds of sitting in his chair he tried to upgrade the service. I have been getting Keratin treatments for years so I am very familiar with these treatments, I was to get the $100 groupon special advertised. I paid him directly rather than go through groupon so that since i was getting a deal, I wanted the salon to get the whole payment and not have to share with Groupon. I also tipped him $20.00. I get Keratin for the smoothing and shine. As I said he tried to sell me the improved treatment called The Best for an extra fifty dollars or even better The Blonde Bombshell for another hundred dollars. My hair looked great when I left the salon. After waiting 3 days to shampoo my hair the results were just okay. I used Pureology products which are free of sodium. After 2 weeks my hair looks dull and coarse. The treatment is completely gone. After spending $120.00 it is now like I never had the treatment. A Keratin treatment should last at least 8 to 12 weeks.
