Sooo good! We stopped here for lunch after a fun morning at the beach, and the food was fantastic! My favorite was the half and half (the curry chicken is phenomenal), and my kiddos loved the mac n cheese. We also had the jerk salmon, but I loved the curry chicken most of all. The coconut rice is very light but still delicious which shows not too many ingredients go into it which is great because it's not artificial. Service is a bit of a wait but i don't mind it at all because it's a made to order rather than it being a yucky fast food place, care goes into it :o) the environment is cute and simple, small places like this means more care and love goes into the food and you can tell by the taste. read more

It's always pretty delicious. To find it on this island was a surprise. So much so that drove from Langley for it! Was a drive! The girl that was working here is super friendly. It takes a little bit of time to get your food but it's not fast food. So it's ok. She was nice! Got a sample of their coconut rice: a little too sweet for me! But it was nice! The food: curry goat! This was what I got hooked on in Jamaica. I love curry goat! Tried it every chance I get. This one feels a ok. The curry was sweet and the goat feel chewy and doesn't feel was it was cooked in the sauce. Quite tough!Bummer! Jerk chicken: nice flavor! Got the with the coconut rice. Doesn't pair well. Tasty chicken though! Best part/ the hot sauce!!!! Totally Jamaican spicy!! I loved the hot sauce!! Scotch bonnet? Not sure. But it was tasty spicy fun!!! Overall, such a fun stop! Allright...I don't usually rave THIS much, but this place is almost worth driving to Whidbey Island just to try it. My daughter and I were on our way to Bellingham via the Port Townsend/Coupeville ferry and were looking for a new place to try for lunch. CL came up and after reading the reviews, we decided to try it. It's TINY...basically an espresso stand turned restaurant. BUT, don't let that discourage you. It's incredible. The owner gave us some samples to try and it was amazing. Unfortunately she was out of the jerk thighs, which I would have liked to have, so I went with the curried chicken instead. My daughter had the shrimp and they were terrific, NOT overcooked, with a fabulous sauce. We both had coconut rice. We shared the plantains and the cabbage as sides. So many incredible flavors, it really is like a party for your palate! The portions were more than generous, too. I have GOT to go back because my jerk craving has not been satisfied...I'll be heading back up to Bellingham next week...Caribbean Lunchbox, I plan to stop on my way up! read more

I've traveled to many countries and sampled many cuisines, included many regions of the Caribbean, and I don't know where this "lunchbox" gets its inspiration. I love flavor and spices but I'd prefer to not have my meal consist of mostly black peppercorns. Maybe I just tried it on a bad day? I'll give an extra star for that possibility. read more

Love this place. The spicy sauce alone is a reason to come back for me. The last two times though I came for the ribs and they might even be better as left overs. The juices from the ribs fill the container and saturate the coconut infused rice (if you choose that as your side, and I do recommend). When you reheat it, the ribs are just as good as when you originally get them and the rice is even better, because it's been sitting in the juices...and depending on how long you reheat the rice caramelizes. read more

Small stand on the side of the road, kind of like a coffee stand but with delicious Caribbean food instead! I had the goat curry and a side of jerk shrimp with coconut rice. The goat curry was tender, flavorful and not too spicy. The jerk shrimp was a little too spicy for me personally. But I am not a huge spice fan and enjoy milder dishes. I enjoyed the rice that was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderfully of coconut, it paired very well with the goat curry. This was my first time going here and I would definitely go again! read more

I was skeptical at first to try this restaurant because it's just a little shack, but seriously, this food is too damn good! I got the jerk chicken, cabbage and plantains and I'm sold. My mouth is on fire right now because this chicken has some kick but you bet I'll be back for more. I would love to see Caribbean lunchbox open up a full restaurant with chairs so that I can bring friends and family to eat together (yes we could drive home or sit in the car, I know) but how great would it be for this to move into a big place with tables and chairs?! I decided to pull over and park in the parking lot next door and noticed cars parking along side of me, all of them eating their meals! And when I was in line (first in line thankfully) there were tons of people lined up behind me to get food! Clearly people love this place! read more

If your looking for authentic Caribbean food this is not the place. The food was such a disappointment in flavor, texture, presentation, just about everything. We ordered the curry chicken and jerk chicken plates and to our surprise the food was served in more of a soup base. The curry was watered down with very little curry or curry spices. The jerk was pretty much the same- there was nothing jerk about that chicken other than a possibly similarity in color. The rice was overcooked and mushy and the steamed cabbage lacked any flavor at all. I would say perhaps this place is inspired by Caribbean cuisine but even inspired is used loosely based on the food we tasted. Definitely not your mother's cooking. read more

I really like their goat curry over coconut-infused rice! For me, that is flavortown! I have had their jerk chicken thighs meal with rice and stewed cabbage, and that is a home-run for me as well! The only turn-off was reading their health department review. It appears they addressed all the issues but I have not been back since, but that doesn't mean I won't! I enjoyed a warm conversation with the proprietor Emanuel and savored the delicious vegetarian plate. Caribbean food in Oak Harbor brings me back to my tropical memories in south Florida! The vegetarian plate included coconut rice (great to cool off from the spices of the other sides), spicy spinach, cabbage, and black beans in a flavorful marinade.
