The food and service were excellent!! I've tired the oxtails, brown stew chicken and curry chicken and all were delicious. The only thing l did not like is the cabbage, which is way too spicy. I like spice and I didn't like it. My mother who has an ulcer could not eat the cabbage. I wish the chef would put less spice in the cabbage or offer another vegetable option. I have to say for a starting business the this was a rather positive first impression. my only complaint is that one or both of the young guys at the front gave me a vibe that i wasn't very welcome. i ordered the curry chicken and got the chicken relatively in the order of which we were in line. the meat was falling off the bones and tender. although the bones kind of were unpleasant as one of the drumsticks kind of shattered and bone pieces were in most of every bite. The plantains had a good mild sweet smokey taste to them. i didn't eat more than a bite as plantains aren't really my thing. the rice and cabbage slaw that were with the chicken had a great taste especially when i mixed the two together. but either or both tasted great individually. no under cooked rice or beans. No over cooked mushy cabbage. but a nice cooked crunch. The music was good atmosphere i feel like if the group here keeps putting the money back into the business they will soar!! maybe better speakers than just the current JBL speaker above the door. but i understand they literally just opened. i told the one of the guys behind the counter that the cook put his foot in it this time and that ill be coming back to try everything. which led to why i didn't feel as welcome because the response i got was an unexcited, unwelcome thank you. not with a nasty tone but a not excited for having had a small rush right at open! read more

My husband and I ordered the oxtails, shrimp Rasta pasta, plantains, cabbage, and potato salad. My husband had the oxtails. He said they were delicious and the portions were great! I crave Jerk Chicken so I've had it at many restaurants and in various cities. This chicken ranks up there with the best. Fall off the bone tender and moist. What I'm usually disappointed in 8/10 times is the sides. Particularly the cabbage, rice and peas and plantains. It's always undercooked and dry imo. I thought that was just how it was made traditionally. Well lemme say I, for the first time ever, thoroughly enjoyed them here. All of it was delicious and my clerk was very friendly and nice. Was so excited when I learned that a Caribbean restaurant would be opening in the neighborhood but sadly I was left disappointed and most likely will not return after giving them 2 tries. My first visit I went for their Stewed Chicken but they were out, so I settled for Jerk Chicken and it was entirely too spicy to enjoy. I am no stranger to spicy food and can tolerate it but it seems no one test tasted it before serving to the public. The plantains were dry as if they choose the unripest plantain and placed it in an air fryer. On my 2nd visit, I was able to order the stewed chicken, but it didn't taste like much and the plantains were still dry, so I think that it's just how they think plantains are suppose to be like. The smell of the food is so welcoming it makes me feel like I'm at a family reunion. The food was typical nothing to exclaim over but the customer service was definitely lacking. For me its important to visit black businesses regardless where in the world you are from but in my case, it stood out that if you were not from the islands, customer service lacked. Strike one, the girl behind me talked over me requesting to know the small and large plate as I perused the menu, okay that's on her right? wrong, it did what it intended and the woman on shift immediately asked where she was from and started dialogue, no problem in my book but when she ordered after me and then was placed before me despite knowing it, I was outraged and immediately started recording (will be on YouTube soon). The island girl got her food before me though I ordered before her and was out the door then I literally had to go back to the front to let them know I was still there then my plates (yes plural) were fixed! I live around the corner and will NEVER go back! The island girl bragged that her dad comes there so she was given A1 service but if you just a local, forget it. Now kind of happy I didn't vote Keith Lee to visit them, he would have been sorely disappointed. Never again will I step one toe in that business.
