We stayed here a total of four nights. As one who travels for my job I've stayed at some 200 hotels/yr so my review would be not only about our stay but in comparison to the thousands of hotels over the last twenty years... Let me say that check-in was the fastest I've ever had and that's because the process starts with a secured area by a six foot fenced and locked gate. You get a passcode texted and instructions on your room. On the room. Door are your keys and the finishing touches for your paperwork are awaiting you in your room. Just complete a few lines and return the sheet to a drop box. There are staff on site for any needs Next the room is the smallest I've ever stayed in and that's saying something. Smaller then some I've stayed in while staying in NY, Barcelona, Toyoko, and other locations abroad. However the room was very clean, had a very comfortable queen size bed with six pillows that were also very comfortable. There was a tall dresser with 5 drawers, a mini fridge, night stand tables on both ends, a ceiling fan, and a window unit air conditioner that had no shortage of extremely cold air to offer. The bathroom was furnished with a pedestal sink, round bowl toilet and standup shower the size of a broom closet. My only drawback was the water pressure but it was understandable due to the small area of the shower, otherwise you would have water outside the bathroom and in the living area. They do offer breakfast with the stay but it doesn't start until 8:30 and we're already several hours into our day by then.

I understand there is a cancellation policy, but I booked through hotels.com and on all third party websites it says children are allowed. I sent them proof and they just still refuse a refund. what an awful hotel. Then they called hours later to tell me we could stay if my kids quiet? LOL

The Caribbean House is in close proximity to Duval, in the center of the E-W stretch. The decor is great, continental breakfast was good (juices, lemon water, yogurt, mimosas, boiled eggs, pastries). The rooms are very small, so I advise packing small and possibly even leaving your luggage in your car. There is no place for it in your room. The shower is extremely tiny, and I'm a small person! There was lots of noise from adjacent rooms, and the employees/owners go up to the third floor and make noise all night long. Make sure to book a parking spot!

In our favorite Key West neighborhood of Bahama Village, there exists an adorable inn with an adorable nightly rate ($89 a night off season.) The location is amazing, with lobster benedicts and bloody marys from our favorite restaurant, Blue Heaven, basically so close they can tap us on the shoulder to wake us up in the morning. And the best thing of all: pooches welcome at no extra cost. That's right, up to 2 dogs of any size allowed per room. The room was tiny, with about 2ft of space surrounding the full bed, but very well decorated and home-y feeling. There was a TV to sustain us through a period of torrential rain, a side table, dresser, AC, and bathroom with a small shower. One of our pups cried the first night for about 20 minutes straight, when we ventured out for a slice of pizza after getting in a bit later than expected. I felt bad, but no one bothered us about it-- I think there is some tolerance for these things at such a dog-friendly place. If you get in late, ring the bell at the front door and the French woman who runs the inn will come down and check you in. They also had reserved a parking space in front of the building for us, which can be really helpful in that area. If the gates are closed, you need a key to get out or in, which is great for the letting the dogs walk around the bottom deck area in the morning without worrying about them slipping out. There is a small coffee bar with patio seating, so you can have a sip and let the pups meet-and-greet before heading out for the day. We felt our dogs were safe and sound while inside the property and there's an old football field-turned-dog park about 2 blocks away where they can get their run on. We'll definitely be coming back. The price can't be beat, and while we could use a scoatch more room, the fact that we don't have to pay to board the dogs and can just throw them in the car and take them with us, is, how you say, priceless.

Loved this B&B. It's small without any real amenities, but it's exactly what we were looking for. The rooms were immaculate. The Caribbean House is in a great location. We walked to the Southern Most Point of the Continental US (what a crock! check a map) all down Duval Street to Sunset Pier without any problems. It's within easy walking distance of the Hemingway House too, if that's you thing. The owner is a real sweetheart and she loves her cats, especially the one she calls Minou Minou (Kitty Kitty). She'll give you a map of the city and directions in broken English when you check in. There is free WIFI. Also, the gates close and lock at night, so don't forget you key or you'll be locked out. If you check out early in the morning before the office opens, don't forget to open the gate BEFORE you drop your key or you'll have to jump the fence to escape... just like my wife and I did.

The best experience in the right location!

Traveling "solo" on a Mom-cation to Key West for the first visit, I can't say enough how impressed I was with The Caribbean House B&B. The rooms all have cute Caribbean names, and are total Caribbean vibe decorated. The rooms were cozy, but very well kept and clean. There's free wi-fi, and the rooms offer cable, ceiling fans and window unit A/C. My room was on the bottom floor around the back, which I was a little worried at first with security from the street. I was relieved to see the property was enclosed by a fence and had two security gates that could only be opened by your key. In my back corner there was only one other room and a perfect outdoor leisure area with comfy chairs and padded benches. I spent a few minutes out there every day with my coffee and a few hours at night over drinks with newly made friends in the room next to me. The top floor has a wrap around porch with outdoor seating and on the backside it overlooks the garden grounds of a cute, older apartment complex where the palm trees offer privacy but you can enjoy hearing the water fountain of the apartments courtyard. That'll be my next room to stay in!! Breakfast is your typical light breakfast fare. A spread of pastries, bagels, hard boiled eggs, cereal, granola, yogurt, and fresh fruit. Coffee, tea and mimosas are included. Once breakfast is cleared the outdoor dining area is a perfect and quiet place to eat anything you've chosen to take back to the room to eat, or to sit and have a cold soda. Sodas are available in the fridge out on said dining area with an honor system. Location is FABULOUS!! Right across the street is an upscale southern dining resteraunt that was once an hold KW home. Amazing food! Right next door is Johnsons Grocery. Perfect for grabbing a single beer and the best homemade conch salad on the island to eat lunch on the patio or porch at the Caribbean House. The owners of Johnsons Grocery are an older couple and I enjoyed many wonderful conversations with them when I'd pop in for something. Across the corner is Blue Heaven... fun spirited place with the best Shrimp and Grits served with a side of warm banana bread. You're only minutes from Duval, less than a 10 min walk, and you're located in the old Bahama Village. Evident by the architecture of the homes on this side of town. In the blink of an eye you can walk to Ernest Hemmingways house or the Key West Lighthouse. There's also Blue Macaw within a blink. A fabulous place to eat with tropical vines, often live music, a Bloody Mary bar to make one yourself or have the bartenders make you the BEST one ever! If you're up for the beach, Ft Zachary Taylor state park is a short walk away. You can pick up a beach towel to use at the front office of the inn. There's bicycles to rent as well. I split my days between the bike and walking. The bikes are 15 the first day, and 10 a day after. The staff is amazingly friendly and felt like family when I left. I had many a laughs with them, all are wonderful people with a great cohesive working relationship which you can see that they aren't just coworkers but family as well. I will def be back and look forwards to staying again at The Caribbean House and seeing everyone's smiling faces and sharing laughter with them every morning!

We stayed 2 nights and had an amazing experience. I called a few times before our arrival, and each time Marsha (Marcia?) was so friendly and helpful. We had given them an estimated arrival of lunch time the day of and wound up being a little early; our room was already ready, and Marsha grabbed a map and circled a few possible points of interest for us. She also asked when my birthday was, which I found amazing, because I don't even remember mentioning it. A few minutes after we checked in, there was a knock on the door, and they gave me an adorable gift basket and card! They also have a great breakfast, and a fridge full of beer, wine, soda, and water on an honor system. Having easy access to water is amazing down here, with so few convenience stores. The location is truly ideal- 3 of the top rated restaurants are on the same block, and everything else is less than half a mile away, yet it's still a quiet street. The rooms are a good size for Key West. Pay for parking at the house! It is absolutely worth it. We will stay here anytime we come back; the friendly staff, attention to detail, and location make this the best place to stay in KW

The Mermaid & The Alligator is hands-down the best bed-and-breakfast in Key West, and honestly, you'll wish you never had to leave. Housed in a 1904 Victorian mansion right in the heart of Old Town, this independently owned gem has the kind of charm chain hotels only pretend to have. Think wraparound porches, lush tropical gardens, orchids dangling from banyan trees, and a vibe so tranquil you half expect Hemingway to stroll through with a daiquiri. The rooms? Gorgeous. Each one feels personal, with Caribbean-inspired decor, canopy beds, and soft linens that make it way too easy to "accidentally" sleep through your Duval Street plans. Outside, the gardens are pure Key West magic: fountains trickle, palms sway, and yes -- the occasional rooster might strut by like it owns the place. Breakfast here is its own event: fresh tropical fruit, homemade pastries, quiches, and strong coffee served in the garden. It's the kind of peaceful start that makes you consider selling everything, moving here, and writing your memoirs. And because it's independently owned, the hospitality feels personal -- warm, genuine, and full of little touches that make you feel less like a guest and more like a friend who lucked into paradise. The Mermaid & The Alligator isn't just a stay; it's a love letter to Key West itself. Come for the charm, stay for the breakfast, and leave plotting how to "accidentally" extend your trip.

We booked this establishment months in advance, which is probably necessary, as we wanted a premium and quiet room. Arrival was easy. Of note, unlike most establishments in Key West, they have a dedicated and paved adjacent parking lot. As we arrived just a little later than planned due to plenty of rain on our route, the Inn called and checked our arrival time and kept afternoon snacks and drinks available. We were walked to our room after an easy check in and shown the highlights of our room. A basic, but premium , continental serve yourself breakfast was provided every morning. Also, every late afternoon snacks and happy hour was present. Pro tip - try the house made sangria! The amenities and comforts of the room were great. The bed was comfortable with several pillows and premium sheets. The room was cleaned thoroughly daily with fresh towels provided. The A/C is the older type wall model with some noise; but actually nice white noise, and it worked really well. Make no mistake; Key West is hot and humid, you'll be loving the A/C. The toiletries were nice and plentiful. The shower and upgraded spa tub were absolutely perfect. There is a little fridge, wet bar and Keurig with several K cups, cream and sugar. Two blocks away is the historic Hemingway House and Key West Lighthouse. Also, a great Cuban cafe is a block away. A CVS is nearby for emergency purchases. Numerous restaurants and shops are nearby. We parked our SUV and walked everywhere during our stay. One day we got a trolley ticket for the further sights such as The Southernmost Point. Lastly but not least. The staff are extremely professional, knowledgeable and willing to assist. Huge kudos especially to Danny who was absolutely stellar as he assisted and served us numerous times. In addition to Danny, Cary was also a notable benefit to us and this wonderful lodge. Lastly, kudos to our housekeeper as she was very thorough and came and went daily with perfect timing. Next time we visit Key West in the Free State of Florida we will only consider Almond Tree Inn!
