Cute little gluten free bakery / cafe in eastern market area. They have outdoor seating but I…read morestayed inside since it was a rainy day. But great place to bring your laptop, do a little work and order some treats. All the baked goods were very yummy. And the barista was very helpful and gave great recommendations! Will definitely be back!!

Good: the vegan cupcakes are probably the best around…read more Bad: their prices are high in comparison with GF bakeries basically in any major city, and they have an illegal "No Cash" policy (illegal under DC law. The owner should look up the law because she's way out of compliance: https://code.dccouncil.gov/us/dc/council/laws/23-187), but charge a 3% fee if you pay by credit card, which you are required to. They basically give you no option to avoid paying a fee. (In response to the owner's response below: They have a sign that says NO CASH, so is a customer supposed to believe they'll accept cash IF the customer has exact change, as the owner says they will? And if they do accept that cash, then they would, in fact, have cash on hand anyway, which undercuts her claim they have no cash on hand...but they don't because they have a sign that says NO CASH. Every other business in the community doesn't blame the city for their own non-compliant policies, as the owner does, and accepts cash in the same circumstances. Plenty of places are happy to take cash and prefer it, and it is required by DC law. I was surprised to see this NO CASH sign after emailing with the owner about it *a year and a half ago.* I walked right out when I saw the sign.) They also now have a self-serve bar which invites the spread of things like norovirus. There are no sneeze guards. They make it hard for me to support them even though I really have been trying to for years.

Came here for dinner tonight and shared a beet salad (antipasti), El padrino (pizza), and pistachio…read moregnocchi (pasta), and tiramisu + one scoop of pistachio gelato (dessert). The beet salad was amazing although a little light on beets. The buffalo mozzarella on top was delicious and we spread it over the salad like a poached egg which had a nice contrast to the bitterness of the fresh arugula base. The pizza was our favorite dish. The crust was amazing and the fresh basil really put it over the top. The gnocchi pasta was great in itself), I would have liked something to cut the cheesy/pistachio sauce/flavor a bit. Maybe a touch of tomato sauce. The tiramisu was certainly made fresh in-house (as confirmed by the server) but we actually thought the pistachio gelato (also made in the house) was the better of the two desserts. Will definitely come back here to try more items on the menu.

Everything I've ordered has been good, only done lunch, never dinner, but the menus are similar,…read moremore offerings at dinner. I've got friends who are longtime Cap Hill residents and this has become a favorite spot to meet up. Been coming here for about 2 years. The Pacci's salad is lovely; spinach and pear mingle together, making it memorable. I find the calamari to be tasty and crispy. The cheese tortellini grows on you; subtle woodsy flavors emerge in the sauce due to a light touch of mushrooms and artichokes. For desserts, their limoncello cake is fab. The coffee is average, and I wish it was more than that to complement the desserts. Service is friendly, lingering is encouraged. It's a relaxing environment, can unwind easily here. Unfortunately, my experience with reservations on-line has been terrible, that needs attention.
