This is a follow up on my previous review and written complaint to the facility regarding my mom's missing after her passing at your facility. It has been distressing to learn that some of her personal belongings, which held significant sentimental value, have not been accounted for. These items were not only precious to her but also hold deep emotional significance for our family. Despite my initial report and the assurances I received regarding an investigation, I have yet to receive any updates or clarity on this matter. I kindly requested a prompt response outlining the steps being taken to locate my mother's belongings. As we navigate this difficult time, resolving this issue is crucial for our family's peace of mind. The administrative director initially looked into this, but never located her jewelry. When I reached out to find out the outcome of the investigation, I never got a response.

There was no bars on the bed even though they knew my mother had a risk of falling . They would keep the call button out of reach and the phone so she couldn't call anyone . Some patients said they are denied showers for weeks and only get to shower a few times a month . They have had items stolen from them and the staff does nothing about it or the staff takes things out of the persons room and claims they stole it . While changing my mother ,a nurse rolled my over on the left side knowing that was were she had pain and my mother fell out of bed . She tried not to hit the TV stand ,the roller table and her face on the floor . She had two big bumps on her forehead and a huge black eye .She said she couldn't open her eye for a few days and when she could she say blurry . The nurse told her she better not tell anyone and that she just fell on her own . She had pain on her forehead for a few weeks and her face . My mother was dying from terminal breast cancer and she would have shortness of breath at times she was afraid to go to sleep because couldn't call for help if she needed anything . Last Wednesday she was trying to get help ,her room mates tried to get her help and push the call button they said it wasn't working ,and they took her phone book so no one could call me .A nurse said "she doesn't need the call button she's going to die anyway ". That is absolutely unacceptable. I didn't get to see her before she passed and then when I asked where she is ,they claimed they don't know . Then when I tried to ask what I could do about her injuries ?I was told to move on and let it go ,she's dead now and there's nothing you can do .I'm trying to find ways to file a complaint for the way she was treated .

I had asked my brother-in-law if he would like me to be his advocate. He thought that would be great and appreciated my suggestion. I live on the West Coast and of course Brooksby is on the East Coast. I knew that because of HEPA laws staff are not supposed to talk to family members without written permission or consent form. I called their case manager and my brother-in-law's nurse over 15 times in one week and left voice messages. NO ONE CALLED ME BACK! When I finally reached someone in the administration office, I explained the situation and asked if she would please call me back either way to let me know what's going on. I STILL have not heard from anyone. Although I live 3000 miles away, I am the closest relative that still has cognitive abilities. All three of my younger sisters have Alzheimer's. I was hospitalized with shortness of breath which doctors thought I had a heart attack on top of a bad case of bronchitis. The cardiologist performed a cardiac catheterization and told me that my heart was "great." He asked if I had been under stress and diagnosed me with broken heart syndrome due to the stress I had caused by the total lack of communication between Brooksby regarding my family members and myself. NO ONE YET HAS CALLED ME BACK! It's been about 4-6 weeks. My family pay an exorbitant amount of money and Brooksby cannot return a phone call? Family care is good healthcare. I would not recommend Brooksby to anyone considering putting themselves or a loved one in that facility.

Diana then stayed with my cousin until she could arrange for Aberdeen caregivers to stay with her 24/7 until the health crisis passed. I appreciate that it was not easy to find caregivers on such short notice, and am grateful to those kind caregivers who rearranged their schedules during this busy holiday season just to be with my cousin. I'm giving three stars, the care by the nursing staff ie two of the nurses was wonderful (Lorna and…read moreDenise) there was another nurse that was awful and when my mom was dying she was so rough with her and almost choked her with medication, but I digress. Let me start at the beginning. We looked at this location for my mom because she needed more care than we were able to give her at home anymore, it all seemed like a great fit, the woman that gave us the tour was wonderful and kind, unfortunately she hit ill and they let her go. One thing that I cannot say enough about is the activities department! If not for them I would have taken my mom out, they kept my mom busy and entertainment for the last six months of her life. Jacinda the director should open her own business! I have so many items that my mother made that are beautiful and I will cherish them forever. Let me get to the negative about this company. The management is truly awful, I won't go into too many specifics but I know that karma will have her way with these folks. I will start with the family is supposed to get together with a manager and get a 30 and 60 day review of how their loved one is doing, Jack the manager had to change the date, ok fine but when I went in on the date he changed it to he started yelling at me (the customer paying 9k a month) saying he was too busy! There is a nurse case manager who oversees the nursing staff, unbeknownst to me I don't even think she's an RN, that I caught in a bunch of lies about my mother falling, which ultimately resulted in her death. I had asked to see the video to see my moms fall and was given the runaround how Jack couldn't find it on the film (what??? Why do you have cameras then?) my mom was in hospice care and did not have a long outlook but this definitely rushed her process along. I could go into many more stories, something that really left a bad taste in my mouth? They sent me a bill after my mom had passed away, keep in mind, this is a 50 bed facility, not a huge corporation! My mom had been gone over five weeks now, I'm still awaiting the refund I was promised three weeks ago, the management doesn't care about their clients whatsoever, it's all about the money, thank goodness for Lorna, Denise and Jacinda!

To be clear, they manipulate their google reviews by having "overly negative" reviews suppressed…read more Remember, they are paying to advertise on Google, so those ratings are not nearly as transparent as you would like to think. Google would rather remove my two harsh, but honest reviews than lose a major, high dollar advertiser... don't forget, they're a nationwide chain, not just the one Danvers location. Moreover, they have staff and others leave ficticuous positive reviews. 4 stars on Google and 1 star on Yelp? Something doesnt add up. A few bullet points before you make your decision. 1. 2 patients died in their care. Now, they have to scan EVERYONE'S individual bar code every 30 minutes (basically a never ending process) 24/7, including all night. Have trouble sleeping in withdrawal? Well, you can forget about it when you hear BEEEEP as they scan your wrist every 27ish minutes. Here's a link to an article regarding the death of one patient: https://www.statnews.com/2017/08/25/mass-treatment-center/ 2. The cleaners mop EVERY unit with the same bucket of dirty water...its absolutely disgusting. Also, need a towel, soap, etc.? You better speak Portuguese because while the cleaners are very nice and friendly, there's barely a word of English between them. (My roommate actually stole a spray bottle of cleaner because the showers were NEVER cleaned during my time there.) 3. Upon move in, I was placed in an unchanged bed of the person before me. This had to be obvious to the nurse who brought me to my bed as my sheet was twisted and half on the floor and I had no blanket, I was so sick and out of it, I didn't question it. I realized what happened when I got a new roommate who, before they arrived, had their bed made and changed with a fresh sheet, blanket and pillow. Its not they forgot to change the bed that bothers me but that the woman couldn't be bothered to do anything about it. 4. They refused to contact my prescriber regarding a question about one of my meds. 5. The staff is literally useless. I could not get anyone to go into a locker and get me my shaver for 6 days. They handle things like this: "speak to so and so tomorrow. (tomorrow) check back later... check back later, again....they left for the day, ask so n so, tomorrow." Rinse and repeat. 6. The care was so bad, I decided to transfer to another facility after a week. Upon leaving, which they made every effort to stop, prevent, and otherwise, delay and after I paid $1600 out of pocket upon admission, of which they refused to refund any part of, upon my leaving, I discovered they had also gone into my wallet without my permission, and taken $50 for my "copay." 7. Checkin is a joke. Ive never seen a more pathetic search upon admission. Clearly, I was not the exception. Literally any drug you wanted was available right under their roof. When I pointed this out to my mother in front of a counselor, they apparently felt obligated, finally, to act, searching everyone and kicking two people out, but this barely made a token dent. There were still drugs everywhere. Although you didn't have to go outside to get your drugs if it was raining, which I guess was nice if thats what you wanted. 8. Want privacy? Not there. They called me by my first and last name multiple times in front of groups of other people. This is a MAJOR HIPPAA violation if you are unaware, because your privacy should never be violated. 9. I would give one star but a few of the orderlies responsible for watching us were really nice, and one of the black, male desk people brought my breakfast back to my room one morning when I was too sick to get out of bed...but that was also the result of my taper starting at less than half what it was supposed to be. So, I have to be fair and give the good with the bad, but it's no contest, I've never been treated so poorly, so consistently anywhere in my life, and it APPEARED to be a function management. Make no mistake about it, once RCA gets you in, YOU ARE A NUMBER and YOU ARE A $ to them... nothing more. If we were, that 2nd person never should have passed away.

This place should be shut down. I am writing this so no other family has to go through what we are…read moreexperiencing with RCA Danvers. Families go into detox scared but hopeful. This experience replaced that with confusion, stress, and zero trust. We chose the RCA Danvers facility based on clear promises: communication within 48 hours, transportation to and from the facility no matter length of stay, and a safe, structured detox. Once my partner was admitted and insurance was in place, none of that happened. Theres been no communication. No updates. No reliable way to reach anyone for literal days. When I finally got someone on the phone after 72 hours of constant calling, I was met with dismissive and unprofessional behavior. I spoke with Christine, Cassidy, and Joe--none of them provided answers or showed basic empathy. At one point, while I was trying to get information about my partner's condition, I could hear them laughing and passing the phone around the room. That alone should tell you everything you need to know about the callousness and unprofessionalism of the staff and total lack of oversight at the facility. The level of care is also deeply concerning. My partner is detoxing from fentanyl, and what they're giving him does not match what we were told to expect, including assurances of a structured methadone taper. Detox is NOT something you handle inconsistently. Transportation was another promise that completely fell apart. I was told he would have a ride home after detox. Now I'm being told that unless he commits to a 30 day program, he will be discharged to the streets after detox, despite living over two hours away. Most disturbing of all, I was told directly by Joe that if he relapses when they discharge him to the street, "that's not on them." That is the mindset of the people responsible for patient care here. This place presents one version of itself to get you in the door, and a completely different reality once you're there. It does not feel patient-focused, or family oriented--it feels transactional. If you care about your loved ones, safety and sobriety, DO NOT send them here. What you are told upfront does not reflect what actually happens. I have documented these failures and will be filing formal complaints with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Joint Commission. This is not just a 'bad experience'; it is a dangerous lack of medical and ethical oversight.
