We made a last minute decision to switch and admit during a time of crises. Unfortunately, we did not have the same experience. I am sharing this review as a warning to other families who may be making this incredibly difficult decision. Our concerns were poor communication, limited patient check-ins, and staff making assumptions rather than taking the time to understand the individual patient's needs and wishes. We often felt that a "one-size-fits-all" approach was being used rather than individualized care. We were made to feel judged.. not my words.. these were the words of an aide on duty and told to back off and let them do their job. We also felt that family input was not welcomed or adequately considered. Despite communicating our loved one's wishes to staff, those wishes were not honored in the way we expected. We did not receive a consistent daily update or helpful info. regarding her condition or prognosis, which left us feeling uninformed, helpless and lost during an extremely critical time. We also had concerns about how some nurses and LNAs interacted with us and our loved one. We received a mix of care and icy interaction. In our experience, more training appeared to be needed in compassionate communication. There was a lack of communication with patients who were still lucid and able to express themselves rather than just giving orders to the patients not taking into consideration the patient's desires or needs for comfort. Our loved one entered Kaplan House lucid and able to stand on day one. By day two, she was unable to stand. By day three, she was having hallucinations, was unable to communicate, and then passed away. We understand that end-of-life decline can happen very quickly, but the lack of communication and our concerns about whether her individual needs and wishes were being adequately addressed made an already devastating experience even harder. We also experienced what appeared to be staffing limitations. There were times when we felt there simply were not enough staff available to provide the level of attention and individualized care we expected. I realize that every family's experience may be different, and I cannot speak for anyone else. This is simply what our family experienced. My strongest advice to families considering any hospice facility is: ask questions, clearly communicate your loved one's wishes, and stay involved and insist on a daily prognosis that we did not receive. If possible, have a family member present as much as possible. Families may not realize everything that is happening when they are not there. End-of-life care is an incredibly vulnerable time. However, if you are present overnight, insist on regular staff check-ins even if you stay - especially over night. Families deserve compassionate communication, individualized care, respect for the patient's wishes, not be judged, and to feel that their concerns are genuinely heard. I sincerely hope Kaplan House takes this feedback seriously and uses it to improve communication, staffing, compassion, and individualized care for future patients and their families. We made the mistake of changing hospice agencies last minute from Lahey Health at Home to Care Dimensions. The nurse who came out from Care Dimensions to admit did not know the situation and made harmful assumptions. Her inaccurate assessment set the tone for a traumatic 3 days which continues to this day. I waited to write this review to allow the grieving process. However, the experience has left me with ongoing unsettled sadness and regret for choosing Care Dimensions. Im giving 2 stars instead of one because one of the doctors was understanding and compassionate. Unfortunately, our contact with a doctors was towards the tail end of that misfortunate journey.

They gave me morphene to administer for his pain. Luckily I ended the connection within a week or he would have been dead. My husband subsequently had successful spinal surgery and lived another nine years pain-free! I would never recommend this company.

Ordinarily an Aberdeen caregiver is scheduled to be with my cousin just a few mornings per week, and there was no one on duty last Friday when some visiting neighbors became concerned that she was unwell and phoned Aberdeen for help. The Aberdeen Case Manager, Diana Shepherd, promptly rushed over to my cousin's house to check and take care of her. Diana then stayed with my cousin until she could arrange for Aberdeen caregivers to stay with her 24/7 until the health crisis passed. I appreciate that it was not easy to find caregivers on such short notice, and am grateful to those kind caregivers who rearranged their schedules during this busy holiday season just to be with my cousin. I live four hours away, so having this dedicated team in place means the world to me, and gives me great peace of mind. I cannot say enough good things about Aberdeen, and Diana and her wonderful caregivers!

The care she received in her home was terrible. There was one week where none of her three times a week nursing visits showed up, none of them called my mother to let her know what was going on. I had to track them down. The orginization had know idea they had canceled. You need to have a full time manager to keep tabs on what is going wring with the home care. It is very corporate driven for a nonprofit. They never tire of asking for dontaions and having fundraisers even the the CEO makes over a half million a year. The changed they're name to Care Dimensions in 2013.

One thing that I cannot say enough about is the activities department! If not for them I would have taken my mom out, they kept my mom busy and entertainment for the last six months of her life. Jacinda the director should open her own business! I have so many items that my mother made that are beautiful and I will cherish them forever. Let me get to the negative about this company. The management is truly awful, I won't go into too many specifics but I know that karma will have her way with these folks. I will start with the family is supposed to get together with a manager and get a 30 and 60 day review of how their loved one is doing, Jack the manager had to change the date, ok fine but when I went in on the date he changed it to he started yelling at me (the customer paying 9k a month) saying he was too busy! There is a nurse case manager who oversees the nursing staff, unbeknownst to me I don't even think she's an RN, that I caught in a bunch of lies about my mother falling, which ultimately resulted in her death. I had asked to see the video to see my moms fall and was given the runaround how Jack couldn't find it on the film (what??? Why do you have cameras then?) my mom was in hospice care and did not have a long outlook but this definitely rushed her process along. I could go into many more stories, something that really left a bad taste in my mouth? They sent me a bill after my mom had passed away, keep in mind, this is a 50 bed facility, not a huge corporation! My mom had been gone over five weeks now, I'm still awaiting the refund I was promised three weeks ago, the management doesn't care about their clients whatsoever, it's all about the money, thank goodness for Lorna, Denise and Jacinda!

My brother was a resident here for a little over a year until his death there in March 2026. I…read morewould visit weekly or every other week, bringing him his favorite soda and snacks. In all that time I only saw him out of bed once. He was just left in his gown in bed wearing a diaper. A few weeks before his death he complained of great pain in his left heel; it hurt to even touch the bed sheet. He was taken to the hospital suffering from necrotizing (dead) skin; it was black and hard. Probably keeping him bed 24/7 caused this. After his hospital stay, he was taken back to Brentwood; shortly after he was found dead in bed. I visited Brentwood in the days after my brother's death to retrieve any personal belongings. While I was at the nurses station, I heard staff calling out that a patient was unresponsive; a staff person came running to the station looking for the AED device that was supposed to be in its place in a case by the station; the case was empty. The aide then ran to the elevator and was waiting for the elevator (which could take a while) to presumably go somewhere else to get an AED; someone came out of the dialysis unit and handed her one of those devices that's supposed to help get air in to a person's lungs; she took it and ran to the room. I think this facility offers bare bones care; not the worst, but not the best. They definitely need to improve based upon what I saw.

His muscles were breaking down from non mobility. ( he's in his 80's) He was sent to a rehabilitation facility for PT , rest and what have you . It didn't go well ! The hospital recommended that he go to a rehabilitation facility for Physical Therapy and care . He refused to go back to the previous facility. Thankfully he didn't !!!!!! He was sent to a place called Hathrone Hill in Danvers Ma . If I could give this facility 10 Stars I would! From the first time I went to visit to the day he was released, I was impressed! You are greeted by friendly and informative staff. They show you how to check in and give directions to the room . As my husband and I went to the elevator we noticed how clean everything was. We also noticed the PT areas and activity areas were also very well maintained. We made over way to our friend room and dinner was being served. OMG ! It looked , smelt and from what he said , tasted delicious. ( the other facility's food wasn't even close to being that good ). I don't think it's appropriate to name them as I don't write bad reviews. Hathrone Hill is worth writing about. I think it's hard enough to see a family or friend going through medical issues. So having a place you feel comfortable with is a major stress relief ! I waited until my friend was released to write this because truthfully I was ready to write this review from day one ! I waited until he was released because I felt that I needed to write a review of this importants , that was not just the first impression but also the last! If she rang the call button it could take up to two hours for someone to come . There was an unexplained 5 inch bleeding cut on her leg. She had two gold bracelets stolen off her wrists when she was sleeping and nightgowns stolen. The staff (not all but most) should be ashamed of themselves for the lack of care they provide. It was a horrible experience and I feel sad for all the residents.
