I'd been curious about this place for a while as I frequent some of the nearby shops and saw that…read moreit was a locally owned spot in a sea of chain food establishments. If you're looking for a traditional BBQ joint, this isn't it. The concept is similar to that of a Chipotle where you choose a base and build a bowl with a variety of toppings, some BBQ related, some not so much. They do have BBQ plates if you want to go that route. I got a bowl with nacho chips and rice as a base. I added the brisket, some nacho cheese and a few other toppings. Overall the food was fine. Nothing really had a lot of flavor, but it wasn't bad at all. I tried the brisket on it's own, and it was tender, but again no flavor stuck out to me. I imagine you might be able to taste the meat better in a BBQ plate vs. the bowl. It was a good value though. I think my bowl came to $13 dollars and it was definitely a good amount of food. Good for two meals for sure. I also got a nutella cookie which was pretty good. It seemed homemade and had a lot of nutella in it. They had some bottled drinks but no soda fountain machine that I could see, which I thought was odd. The guy who took my order and put together my bowl was nice and they have a few tables for dining in. I tried to stay there and do a little work as I was waiting for my dog at the groomer, but he didn't know the password to the wifi.

Similar to Chipotle , pick protein, base, add one and sauces and type Can get quesadilla, burrito or plate. We went with smoked chicken plate and pulled pork. Pulled pork was better, less dry Service was good as was ready when I pulled in. Reasonably priced . Rice and greens were a good base and Carolina Gold sauce was good

Decided, on a whim, to stop at Smokin' Joe's BBQ today. The spot used to hold a Chicken & Waffles…read moreeatery so I was curious to see how the new place would measure up. The lady who took my order was very nice and personable. I ordered one of my favorite dishes of all time - a Po' Boy (with spicy BBQ sauce). A regular side with the Po' Boy is offered at $1.00. So I jumped at the chance to try the mac n cheese. The order came up pretty fast. I went to the liquor store for a Snapple a couple businesses away and by the time I walked back to my car, my order was done. So about 5-7 minutes. The Po' Boy came in a little to-go box. I let out a Darth Vader, "NOOOOOOOO!" when I saw the size. Luckily, It was nom nomz. Also, something to note here, the sauce was not spicy at all (but it was yummy). The slaw that was piled on, along with the fries and BBQ sauce, was delicious. Thumbs up! Now, the mac n cheese was a tad bit disappointing. It could have used some, how do you say, STANK on it. Seasoning the cheese (or using two types of cheese, perhaps) would have gone a long way. It wasn't terrible nor was it dry - it just needed a little (ok a lot of) umpf. Oh and can we discuss how TINY the portion was?! Come guys, I know you're a new establishment but you're not gonna make a lot of people happy with children under 5 portion sizes. Smokin' Joe's BBQ is perfect for lunch (sans the mac) but you'd have to double your order for something a bit more filling. With that said, I will be back for the Po' Boy and I want to try out the ribs as well.

Hard to notice from the street but don't worry, you're not missing much. The first thing I ordered…read morewas their version of a strawberry mojito. It was watered down as if it was a mojito made by white claw. Now let's dive into the food. We ordered "quesamole" which is exactly as it sounds, queso and guacamole mixed, but with brisket. This appetizer was decent and I'm in no way a guacamole fan. For the main course I ordered a combo plate of sweet and saucy ribs, sweet and spicy shrimp, and baked Mac and cheese. Deep sigh. Let's begin with the mac and cheese, or should I say cheese. There appeared to be several penne noodles mixed with cheese beneath an inch thick layer of melted cheese. I can't stress enough how much cheese there was. The ratio of cheese to noodles was probably 80/20. Was not a fan. Next were the sweet and saucy ribs which seemed like they started with a bad cut of meat. There was fat in places where there shouldn't have been. My ribs could've come from a bad rack, but fine, don't serve that rack. The sauce was very mid tier. Not awful but nothing to write home about. The combo plate came with three bones; I ate one, picked over the second, and left the third. Last and certainly not least were the sweet and spicy shrimp. There wasn't anything sweet or spicy about these shrimp. If there was a sauce that was supposed to come with them, it didn't. However, the shrimp is what saved this restaurant from one star island. They were fried perfectly to a golden brown crisp. Not over cooked in the slightest bit. Shrimp is a delicate protein because it absorbs practically anything it makes contact with during the cooking process. A lot of places fail at fried shrimp by having dirty grease. This was not the case. If I had to recommend anything here, I'd say order a beer and the shrimp. Overall, I wouldn't say avoid this place, but if you are making a visit, don't have high expectations.

When you pull up it looks like a dive from the 1960's or a small Soviet bloc, not many windows and just a square little building, but you come inside and the people are inviting and friendly and the food is out of this world. We were in the mood for a good burger and we saw that this place had been voted "Best Burger in…read moreCleveland!" So we figured we'd try it out! If we were not looking for this place specifically, I know we would've driven right past it! It's a standalone little building and the only markings I saw outside was a little sign that said BAR. But it was 2 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon and there were several cars in the parking lot, which is a good sign. The inside is really tiny. There's a large U-shaped bar and about six tables. We looked in the menu and opted for their famous Smashburger. It is $14 and comes with fries. It is a double patty cheeseburger. I did not want a burger that big so I opted for just one Patty. They said that was no problem, but the price was still the same. I also got onion rings, which were $3 more. The food came out really fast and you could tell it came right out of the fryer because the french fries were super hot! This place is called a dive bar, and I guess it is - but on a Saturday afternoon, the place was filled with all kinds of people. On one side of us was a family with little kids. On the other side of us was a couple in their 20s. And then the rest of the place was filled with people from every age group. I have to say that the music they play there is fabulous! But back to the food. The burger was seasoned really well! It is a smash burger, but they're still able to make it crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Our server was really good. She did not hover, but she was around to see if you need anything. Depending on the vibe that you're looking for, if you want more of a bar vibe, you should go in the evening, but we were happy to just be in a relaxed little joint with good food. They opened up another Crowley's in Painesville so we will probably have to try that one too.

I say Team, because they all were working together! The hostess, server, people getting food to the tables! Such a great environment! You truly feel appreciated as a customer! Indulgent and great for a celebration! The grits were yummy and I ended up taking the home fries home! Hahaha. My only critique, is that while the coffee was flowing, it was a tad on the bitter side. Still an ok cup of coffee! We liked it so much, we came back a week later with other people! We've told multiple people who were looking for a place to go for breakfast to definitely come here! My favorite place was a diner where the food is good, specials different, and the help is happy! As I entered Petie's the manager immediately "hello 1 for here??" Huge smile.
