To be brief Carabello is the straight shooter to the specialize Analog within the premises. I was actually recommended by the staff to have the gourmet dine in experience at Analog. I did not experience any of the signature brews made but for good reason as it serves as a basis for what Analog produces. The interior of the establishment was warm and welcoming. Exactly what you expect from a small coffee bar. Quick and on the go Carabello is where you want to be. If you have some time to enjoy walk through the hallway for the Analog experience. Pro tip the baristas work interchangeably between Analog and Carabello. My intern and I stopped in for an early lunch/coffee break. We received the warmest greeting from the girl working the coffee bar. She was super helpful and patient. We ended up ordering a few food items, like chicken salad, quiche, and a few pastries. I learned the food is all sourced from other local businesses. I really enjoyed the quiche and the chicken salad. The almond croissant was good as well. For drinks, we ordered from the Analog Coffee Bar-- where the more artisanal drinks are made and served. I got a banana pancakes drink. It was essentially a cappuccino with banana and buttermilk flavors. It was one of the smoothest coffee drinks I have ever had, but sadly the flavor was a 3/5 for me. There are several doors on this corner shop with a suggestion to keep going down the block to the actual front door. When you're in, you have a couple of options. There's a straight-forward menu with drinks and some tasty bites. There's also the Analog Coffee Bar with personalized something or other. I don't know for sure. They'll take your order, give you a number (if you get anything to munch on needing warmed up), and you can pick a seat on either side of this spacious establishment. A quick stop for coffee on a road trip. There was a line out the door, which we interpreted as this was the spot for coffee. We learned this really meant it was kind of disorganized and slow. Staff at the register kept changing as it seemed they were kind of disorganized and maybe overwhelmed? There were probably 5 people between the 2-3 taking orders at one register and the 2-3 making drinks. I've experienced much busier coffee shops handle double the customers with half the staff in half the time. Who knows, maybe it was an off day for everyone? We brought our own cups, which seemed to confuse them multiple times, despite them offering a discount if you bring your own cup. I guess no one does that but us. They offer a discount for your own cup, but it took two people to figure out how to ring that up. They found out that it's only one bring-your-own-cup discount per order and offered to ring our drinks up separately. We didn't want to delay the long line, so we declined. We waited awhile for our drinks. My husband noticed my finished drink had been sitting behind the counter a long time, so I walked up to the counter as one of the staff was asking another whose drink that was, and no one knew. I said "that's mine" since it's in my cup and I know my cup, lol. After handing it to me, while I was walking out the door, I heard her call my name, so I think they made it twice, I might search for a different place to get coffee if I was heading through town again, but I wouldn't rule it out, I'd just know what expectations were. read more

We were over in Newport so decided to try out Carabello Coffee, which had been in my "try" list for a while. Pretty good! We got my standby iced vanilla latte and an iced matcha, to go. Both tasted great! Busy establishment with many people sitting at tables spread across 3 rooms. Nice architecture in an old brick building, on a corner with nice bright windows. Server was friendly. It took a minute or two to get our orders, but no longer than expected for craft brewed drinks. There were a few quirks -- the entry is not intuitively where you'd expect it to be. It's down the cross street, not the main street. And even then and with sign pointing the direction, there are a couple doors. Maybe an improvement to be had there for non-regulars. Also confusing was the name: the front room signage was called Analog (so if you are looking for Carabello, you might think you entered a different shop). But the word Carabello is gigantically scripted on one inside wall of Analog, so maybe you are in the right spot? And then there's a table with a barista who greets you but is clearly not the main barista. And then you'll see there's what looks like the regular coffee ordering space in the next room. Whew! There are tables and chairs -- about 50% occupied when we were there -- if you want to sit for a spell or work. Street parking. read more

My first visit to Carabello and it did not disappoint! I met with a friend for a coffee date this morning and wow I don't think I've ever seen a coffee shop so packed! I knew I was in the right place lol! I tried the goetta, egg and cheese wrap and the orange cappuccino. The wrap comes cold in the cooler but they heat it up for you and it was pretty tasty! They also brought out a side of salsa to go with it. The drink was good as well. While the shop was very busy it was a nice size venue and had two sides to help with seating. This is my favorite coffee shop in nky. Love the ambiance, the espresso is delicious, and the people are always very sweet. My only advice would be to get larger table markers! I visited recently and tried the blue matcha latte. I enjoyed but personally didn't think it tasted different than a normal matcha latte, and also the powder had clumped at the bottom. Even better, the establishment prioritizes farm direct coffee by purchasing coffee beans from farmers at a price that is higher than the Fair Trade pricing which not only increases the quality of the coffee but also ensures that farmers are being paid ethically for their work. While at Carbello, I purchased a vanilla iced latte which was freshly made and even better than I hoped. The barista was very polite and the drink was delivered to my table promptly. Over the years I've become a bit of a snob when it comes to my coffee. I am not proud of this but it has been really really fun to explore this side of coffee. And now I have tried Carabello Coffee and nothing will be the same. When I tell you this is the best coffee I've ever had, I mean it. It's simply phenomenal. Truly. So good that upon arriving home, well over 500 miles away, I ordered a giant bag of their espresso because luckily for me, they ship all over the county. After sipping on their coffee in other shops and hotels across NKY, I finally stopped in to the Carabello storefront to see where the magic happens. This shop is inviting, and homey, with lots of natural light. It's definitely a popular place to sip and stay awhile: there were several people there when I arrived, but the tables are spread out between rooms, so it's less overwhelming then it could be. The team member at the counter was kind and knowledgeable. I asked what his favorite drink was, and he recommended the "Miel." I'd never heard of this before ... but apparently it's a Spanish coffee drink with honey and cinnamon. And let me just say, what a great recommendation! If you dine in, the coffee is served in a big cup, and their latte art is certainly Instagram worthy. I also ordered a chocolate croissant. I'm not sure if these are made in house - but they're exquisite either way. I might have liked it even better warmed, but that wasn't given as an option. I also purchased two bags of their coffee beans to distribute to family members who'd also tasted Carabello while dining at Hotel Covington. The bags were a little pricey, but you get what you pay for with artisan coffee. I spent a couple of hours working on my laptop in one of their rooms. The Wi-Fi was fast and easy to access. This is a great place to get away from the home office ... although if you need a quiet space to focus, I wouldn't recommend going here. It wasn't extremely loud - but between the music playing and the old friends catching up across the room - you won't be able to take a deep dive into something that needs all of your attention. There was a decent amount of street parking when I was here mid-week, although I wouldn't be surprised if that fills up on weekends. Monmouth is a pretty walkable street though, especially if the weather is nice. I'm definitely going to make this one of my regular coffee shop stops! read more

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in the Cincinnati/NKY area! I can't say enough good things about Carabello - from the coffee and pastries, to the atmosphere, it really checks off all of the boxes. As an avid coffee lover, I always come in for one of their iced mocha lattes. They steam the milk before pouring it over ice, which is a nice added touch that not many other places do. The mocha flavor is just the right amount of sweetness without diminishing the coffee taste as well. I love coming here to get work done, as the wifi is quick and there are plenty of seating options. It's usually busy, but the noise is never really too loud and I'm still able to concentrate on what I need to get done. The baristas are always super friendly and chatty too. My husband and I just stopped by this spot before running some errands. First off, we were promptly greeted upon arrival. Unfortunately, we were still waking up from our redeye flight, so once we got our rental car, we looked up this spot so we could caffeine up properly before starting our day. The shop has a couple of retail sections--coffee accessories and other items for sale--food and acceasories. We were pretty overwhelmed with the options available--fresh pastries, breakfast sandwiches, wraps, quiche, oatmeal, etc. I was also a bit overwhlemed by the drink options, but after some consideration opted for the Redeye coffee drinks. It's a chill atmosphere that is cozy and allows for people to hang out and enjoy some drinks in their comfy seating, or tables where people can set up their laptops to get some work done, or carry out any of their items. I'd say it was a nice 50/50 split of work and relaxing. The service was impeccable. Someone was being trained while we were rung up, but both ladies were quick to offer some suggestions on coffee drink, size, and food options. Since we were still groggy from the flight, all the recommendations were welcomed. The food and drinks came out quickly and accurately. Top notch for food and service. And pricing was pretty reasonable too. The staff was attentive and friendly. Should I be in the neighborhood again, I will definitely make a return visit. read more
