I went here because of the good reviews: DO NOT BELIEVE THEM. I made an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation. During the hour between the appointment being made and the appointment time, they apparently called me but I was busy. According to the very rude employee I spoke to, they have a labor issue. When I asked "what?" because what do you mean my appointment is cancelled because of a labor issue, he rudely swung the bay door open to show that they literally did not have a single employee. He said they *might* have an employee show up Monday through Friday "with tools." So you need to make an appointment through a centralized franchise call center service, but the location has not apparently made the centralized call center aware that THEY DO NOT HAVE EMPLOYEES. Unbelievable. I would have been understanding -- I understand that these things happen -- but the employee was so unbelievably rude that I am disgusted. It looks like most recently this has been an ongoing issue, but with review services showing the glowing reviews first, it feels like a total scam. read more

***BEWARE*** Let me start off with saying, I never leave feedback or reviews, however this was next level. Booked an appointment a week in advance. Took off of work to take care of my oil change and tire rotation. Arrived 15 mins early. The older man behind the counter said, oops. I forgot to call you. We're fully booked up today. A call then came in. Instead of asking the caller to hold a min the guy proceeded to make me stand at the counter for 12 mins while he took the call. Explained I took off of work to handle this. He then proceeded explained how I'd need to wait another week. No sorry or a we'll give you a discount. Ended up walking. The best part, all of the bays were opened. Not a single car there. All of the mechanics were standing around looking at their phones. It's almost comical. I'll never go to another Car X again. read more

I recently took my car to Car-X Tire & Auto for an oil change and wheel alignment on November 12. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Mark Watts was at the front desk ready to help me with my appointment. I arrived 45 minutes early only to find out that I did not have one. Mark explained to me that when I made the appointment over the phone, the call center did not process my information accordingly, but he did not refuse service and tried to accommodate me for the day. As he was taking my personal information, I noticed that Mark was on a phone call while helping me. I was patient, as I could see that he could not focus on assisting me because he was on a call. His mechanic was also there with some questions for him. Mark became overwhelmed by the amount of things he was doing all at once and froze. His lack of attention was reflected on my invoice; he did not get my email address right. After I noticed that he was not helping, I asked, "Am I good to go?" He said no and got back on the call, completely ignoring me. I asked again, only to receive another no for an answer. I went ahead to say, "If you are going to help me, you need to hang up the phone and pay attention to me." He put his hand up and said, "It's my manager. Look, you can leave right now! We do not need your business!" I would not have stayed for business with such a terrible response, but I have a busy schedule for the next couple of months, and this was my only available time to take my car to a shop. I refused to let my appointment go to waste and stayed for the service. To make matters worse, the mechanic found an issue with the idler/pitman arm and tried to explain to me what the problem was. I could not understand everything he was explaining, and he became frustrated, raising his voice and repeating what he had said. I asked, "Can you fix it? Can you replace it?" He replied no, saying he did not know how to do that. At this point, I came to realize that the manager does not understand customer service and the mechanic does not know how to repair cars. Mark never apologized for trying to kick me out of the shop and refusing service. I paid my bill of $288.74. I did not use a coupon, nor did I ask for a discount. I expect better service and accountability from a reputable shop. I hope Car-X Tire & Auto addresses these concerns to improve customer service in the future. read more

I made an appointment for an oil change. On the day of my appointment Patrick (manager) called saying his technician did not come in....so I rescheduled. A couple hours later he called saying a different technician came in on his day off and he could do my oil change. {Good thing as I was overdo.} Kudos to Patrick for being diligent and thank you to the technician for coming in. My oil change was completed quickly and I had a great discussion with Patrick. He is going to be a great manager for Car-X. read more

This place is the absolute BEST! I needed new tires, alignment and a few other things and they got me in quickly. They all were extremely professional. They were Fast and efficient- VERY thorough. I take my car here for anything! The shop owner and employees are all very nice (not creepy) and knowledgeable about what NEEDS to be done and what can wait for later. I have never felt pushed into buying anything and they have always been honest if I didn't actually need anything. If they did want to replace something they have taken the time to show me what it was, why it was important to replace and how much it would cost. The prices are fair and they always have coupons for oil changes. My oil change came with a tire rotation, which some places will charge $25+. I need full synthetic oil which can get fairly spendy, but at Car X it's affordable around $70. The waiting area isn't anything special, but they do have WiFi. I have found it difficult to find a place that isn't trying to push me into buying anything and everything for my car or over charges for an oil change. Not to mention finding a place where, as a female, I feel comfortable going too. Surprisingly the small, no frills Car X off Penn is the place to go. read more

I found Car-X on Richfield to be an exceptionally fine place to get my car fixed. All the people who work here are friendly, responsive, no-pressure, fairly priced, and quick to get the job done. Being a stereotypical girl, I hate car places. Being a paranoid stereotypical girl, I'm convinced all mechanics are out to get me and to sell me something I don't need, or tell me they fixed something they didn't. This is why I'm grateful for my husband; especially when he voluntarily takes my car for an oil change or repair or what have you. But this time husband asked me to go with, because I had a Groupon for an oil change, tire rotation, etc. I was dreading it. I didn't even want to step foot in one of those smelly boy car places. But I was pleasantly surprised. The assistant manager couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. He even let us use their computer to print out our Groupon (sidenote on Groupon: always print them. No businesses ever know how to use the 'on phone' feature). They did a great job in a short amount of time, and he didn't pressure us to buy ANYTHING extra -- even though he recommended a few things be taken care of sooner than later. Loved the honesty and laidback attitude these guys had. read more

I have high miles cars, 200,000 plus; On seperate visits the guys at carX have been keeping them cars going for years: replaced the power steering rack, replaced the exhaust, and flushed out my braKe system on my Deville; replaced the exhaust on my Rendezvous...they always quickly do good work for a fair rate. read more

I've been coming here for the past 6 years and every time my car has gotten fixed quickly and I haven't left my whole paycheck behind when it came time to fork over my money. They don't give you the run around trying to dupe you into more repairs than necessary or jack up prices just because you're female! Even when I had a junker car they were honest with me and told me it wouldn't be worth it to put more money into repairs. With that car they worked with me to get what absolutely needed to be fixed and let me know what repairs I could put off to help save for a new car. With my more recent car they make sure it runs like new every time I leave! I will continue to come to this location in the future! read more

I had a mixed experience at this Car-X. My friend encouraged me to share it: I give credit because they completed the work and provided a free loaner car that worked well. I would not go back here, however. I felt like the approach was condescending and paternalistic, with staff subtly undermining my questions and not providing information unless I pressed for it quite a bit. Their habit is not to provide an itemized receipt until after you pay. My expectation is for people to communicate the information I need up front and in an uncomplicated, clear manner. Joking around is fine, but not when it makes it harder to do what I came to do: get my car fixed quickly. And joking is not the same as mocking your customers when they ask questions about the service. This would not be appropriate regardless of the customer's age and gender. I'm going to bring my business to a place where the communication is clear, respectful, and professional. read more

I have taken my car there a few times, and they are always honest and fair. I have never felt, pushed into anything, they always show and explain what needs to be done, and what my options are. I got a thorough inspection and it was just 2 filters that needed replacing. My vehicle has 70K miles and has never had any serious work done on it. I feel that they could have pushed me to replace something a little more expensive, but the fact it was just two cheap filters makes me feel that they have integrity and are honest. My husband always took both of our cars here to have the oil changed for years. Now that he has cancer and they found that out, they charged me way over what he was ever charged for an oil change. 20 bucks over what the dealership normally charges. Pretty low in my book, taking advantage of not only a woman but a sick man also. I have lived in the neighborhood surrounding the shop for 40 years. My first visit here was a few years ago to get a second opinion. The Jeep dealership down the street had recomended over $2,800 of repairs. I went to this shop and not only did I not need the majority of repairs (no where near $2,800) they walked me back to my vehicle to show my why I DID NOT need all of the repairs. Since that time I have moved over 20 miles away and still take my vehicle there for repairs. Their pricing is fair and they are very clear as to what should get done now and what to look out for in the future. Great guys and I will continue to go back! read more
