Based on the great reviews, I was excited to purchase a car I was interested in on their website. Over the course of a week, I tried contacting them through CarGurus, then by direct email, and called three different phone numbers, two of which had full voice-mailboxes. I didn't want to pester them and initially assumed that they were just busy, so I spaced out my attempts to get in contact. I had finally gotten in touch with someone from their office, who re-directed me to Gerry's direct line. Again, unable to leave a voicemail, so I resorted to text. No response. At least be decent enough to communicate. After reading through more of the negative reviews by customers regretting their purchase, I wonder if the no response has to do with my specific questions about the state of the vehicle's transmission and whether I can take the car to a third-party mechanic for inspection before purchasing. This is a difficult review for me to write. I'm an ASU student who did business with Gerry because I needed a car for my senior year of college. I saw the great reviews, did some of my research, and then reached out. Gerry was easy to talk to, helpful, and came across as a genuine personality. We scheduled a test drive on a 2010 Honda Civic and that went well. I first realized that I made a mistake two days after purchasing the vehicle. My dad and I did a test drive during a cool evening and it seemed like the AC was working OK. I mentioned that it felt a little warm but Gerry reassures me and says that it probably needs more freon but that he'll add it. First day driving at 90 degrees I could barely feel any cool air. I live in scorching hot Phoenix AZ so obviously this is alarming to me. I take it to Poway Honda for a complete inspection to inspect my AC as well as alert me to any other issues which the car may have. Several hours later I got a text informing me that my car needed immediate attention for an engine oil leak and insufficient shock absorbers/struts/suspension/tie rod ends & boots/steering gear & dust seals. To add to that they tell me that my headlights, tail lights, brake lights, hazard warning lights, turn signals, and exterior lamps will need to be replaced along with, of course, my entire AC. I'm looking at 2,000+ dollars in repairs. I pay for the most necessary repairs but I'm left feeling shocked, frustrated, and foolish. Fast forward to a few weeks later and the car has had numerous problems while driving in AZ. I've already had to replace the car battery once and today my car broke down while I was waiting at a stoplight. I have to look into what the issue is now but at this point, I'm tired of dealing with this shit. As I mentioned before, it's difficult for me to write this review because I felt like I hit it off with Gerry. He's a unique personality and it truly did seem like he was trying to help a college student get by with a good deal. But I guess first impressions can be deceiving or even misleading. I see the other great reviews and I'm confused as to how my situation ended up so much differently. I regret buying the car because I feel as though I overpaid when you factor in all of the grief that the car has caused me so far and all of the repairs that I've faced. read more

Bought a Used 2013 Mazda Mazda3 i Sport from this dealer. I was super impressed and grateful that care was taken even for details like polish and detail. In my personal opinion- you can tell a lot about the attention of the overall car just by the cleanliness of the inside, and this was a prime example. They also replaced things like struts and spark plugs before even advertising for sale. It is in fantastic condition, and even after getting a second opinion from another mechanic, green flags. I have only good things to say about Gerry. I got burned on my last vehicle purchase, and was rather paranoid and anxious in finding another one. While looking around for the cars I wanted, I stumbled across Car King and Gerry. Gerry was prompt and direct in contacting me back. The car I initially wanted had already been sold by the time I contacted him, but he had a slightly newer model, that was a better deal for the mileage and price compared to every other seller around. We met up for a test drive. The car was clean and presentable, and he had all the car fax and maintenance info. The car ran great (It's had no problems since I bought it in January). Well here is a story you need to hear. I went through the entire carfax for the car I was looking to buy and everything looked good. Test drove and the salesman seemed very trustworthy and straight forward. Fast forward to the paperwork and paying portion of this experience, we used a bank loan and our bank required the dealer to call them and check to make sure the car was worth the selling price. My bank declined the purchase because the car was only worth 3,000 DOLLARS and he was selling to us for..wait for it, 5700 DOLLARS. I had posted a review with 5 stars until the following took place, the day after I brought car home. Car was dirty inside and the floor also was filthy. Windows had a film on them inside, and found out it was smoke scum. I brought car in to tint the windows, they told me this, the following day. I was then accused of giving Jerry fraudulent cashiers checks. 2 of them, which I obtained from my bank. Quoting Jerry, "I dont want to have to call the police on you."The checks are fine I contacted the bank. I was handed 30.00 cash from Jerry to get the car smog tested. He should of done this not me. Problem is there is not 1 smog place in my area that will do it for 30.00 dollars. THE COST where I live is between 54 and 64 dollars. So im the end I got treated pretty badly. Not happy at all. Buying a used car is risky business. I was considering buying from a private seller as that is usually the cheapest way to go. I was also considering buying a car at auction. That's very risky because the cars are sold 'as is' and there is little opportunity to inspect and test drive the vehicle. With Car King, I was able to find a great 2nd car quickly without the risk. Sherif at Car King was very professional and allowed me to minimize the risk. I was able to test drive the car. I was also able to take the car to have it inspected by my regular mechanic that was only two miles away. The mechanic was very impressed with the vehicle. The sales person, Sherif, presented me with the car fax history of the car. The car fax showed a few owners but it also showed excellent maintenance. I was looking for a reliable but inexpensive 2nd car. Those two characteristics are usually mutually exclusive. I originally contacted them to see a Nissan Sentra they had posted on their website. Sherif let let me know that the Nissan had just been sold but they just obtained a Honda Civic. It was a bit more than I had originally budgeted. However, as I mentioned the car was in excellent condition - from the exterior body intergrity, to the interior, to the mechanics. To top it off, the price of the car was at the very low end of the Kelly Blue Book value. I didn't see vehicles in this category being sold much cheaper anywhere. The car was well-prepped for sale. Both the engine and interior were spotless. I know from the car fax where they purchased the vehicle - but as I mentioned earlier they take the considerable risk in doing so. It's clear that they do a good job both finding and preparing the cars for sale. I bought a car at the very low end of their inventory and it's been an impressive vehicle. Another thing I greatly appreciated was that there was ZERO pressure from Sherif. The most 'pressure' I got from him was him asking me what I thought. He never hesitated when I mentioned that I wanted to have my mechanic inspect it. He was very accommodating regarding the logistics of doing so. It was a very easy, very low pressure, fast buying experience. The only 'minus' is that they don't have a large lot with a large inventory. They specialize in finding good vehicles and having their mechanic get the vehicles in top running condition. All showings are by way of appointment. All in all, it was a very good experience. This is the first time I've bought a used car in 33 years but if I were to buy another used car tomorrow - I would contact Sherif to see what they have available. read more

Gerry- I just want to let you know what a horrible car you sold me. I know it's a used car but I can't believe I actually bought this thing from you. I was completely lied to and taken advantage of. I've had to replace every single tire - thank god one didn't blow out on me on the freeway. A rim was cracked . Every sensor went bad within days. The fuel pump is bad, the windshield wipers, back up camera does not work, the console drains my battery completely if I leave the car off more than one day- oh that's right needed to replace my battery too. After you told me it was a NEW BATTERY. No it was from 2017. So many BOLD FACED LIES. I NEVER received the door lock cover that you so called mailed to me after I bought it. Last night the car complete shut down on the freeway late at night while I'm going 70 mph home after working all night. The danger you have put a young woman in by selling me this car is just insane.
