I don't recommend this service, when there are so many out there to choose from. I tried to donate my car to Lindsay Museum and they use this service. I got their info from the Lindsey Museum website and called over a week ago. After an extremely long time on hold, they took all my info, and all the info about my car, and said someone would call me back. It's been almost a week and no-one ever called. When I called them back today to tell them that I'd need to move on, if someone wasn't going to come get the car ... all the girl on the other end said was, "Sorry, m'am." I asked if someone was planning to come or did they have a reason, etc.? Again, she just said, "Sorry." That was the end. We hung up. She didn't ask me for any info., or offer any reasons, nor try to save the donation. It was a very strange and disappointing experience. So, unfortunately, Lindsey Museum lost out. read more

Truly the greatest people. My new car was repaired by a mechanic and in the pandemic , as well, two days later, the engine failed. I had just began a new position, and did not have the means for a new car or time to shop around. I felt very lucky this place is local to my home. I bought a wonderful reliable Toyota Echo, in perfect condition, that will last forever, well below market. I travelled and did many vacations through the pandemic, and, I know this car will last another 100,000 miles or more. I purchased the vehicle for 2500.00. They are extremely honest, nice, and, def. Friendly, responsive, competent and local. They were able to pick up and donate my mother's car in Walnut Creek, even though I live in Arizona. Her favorite charity (Tony Larussa's ARF) is among the many they affiliate with. All paperwork is provided, all arrangements are made, and we get the tax deduction. Many organizations encourage car donation; this fine company will make it happen with ease. read more

I recently had to make the decision of putting a new transmission in my 99 Beetle with 173,000 miles or donating it. I really loved my car and dreaded looking for a company to assist with the donation. I called ARF in Walnut Creek (my chosen charity) and they sent me to Car Donation Services. Best experience buying a used car ever! Rich is 5 stars!! Straightforward and honest. He makes a few recommendations and cuts you loose to look at his inventory. When you pick out a car and make the deal the paperwork is handled simply and right away...boom-boom! I test drove two cars, looked at about a dozen others, negotiated the purchase with Rich, completed title transfer and taxes nearby and traded in my old car to Rich, all within a short period of time. Amazing! Rich is so honest I overhead him say to another shopper "You don't want that make and model, they are prone to transmission problems"!!!!! My experience was completely different from the usual slimy used car purchase experience, which I was dreading. Rich gives you all the time and space to make your own decisions and negotiates in good faith. How refreshing! To explain. This is a used car lot. I've had my 2002 Camry for almost 15 years (my mom had it before me) and I finally bought a new car last year. I had every intention to sell the car to pay back some of my car loan, but after more than a year, it was still sitting on the street with me moving it around to avoid parking tickets and street sweeping. Since that had been my pattern and being so busy with work, I decided to donate my car and get a tax write off instead. I knew that places like KQED and Make a Wish did car donations so I did some research online and found Car Donation Services that had a bunch of charities from which you could select. I ended up selecting Island Cat Resources and Adoption as my charity. They're a wonderful organization and my aunt actually adopted her cat from ICRA. After filling out the form online, I received a phone call the following day. They let me know that the would be sending me a packet in the mail and that a tow service would be contacting me and that the process would take about 5 days. I asked if there was any possibility to have it picked up sooner as the battery had just recently died and street sweeping was 2 days away. They said they would check and see what they would do as they were booked. I got a call back and they were able to squeeze me in. The tow truck arrived and the guy asked for my signature on a couple documents and handed me a Notice of Transfer and Release of Liability form and instructed me on what I needed to to. He asked for the keys and said he would take care of everything, but I wanted to go to the car and make sure I had taken everything out of the car. Having had that car for so long, it was weird to walk away knowing that a chapter had come to a close. Car Donation Services Inc made the whole process so easy and really offered excellent customer service. I work in the service industry so really appreciated what they did for me. Got a really good deal on a 04 Mazda from Rich. As other's have said he's easy to work with and honest. I know they do some kind of systems check on the cars they have and pass it for smog before selling it. Also it's pretty cool some of the money's going to charity instead of just some dude on Craigslist. read more

I viewed and test drove and made arraingments to have a 1989 Toyota Corolla inspected by my mechanic. The vehicle was not delivered as promised and was sold to a person that came after me. My mechanic scheduled the time and lost income as a result of Car Donation Services representive, one "John", failing to keep his commitment. I believe my insistence of having MY mechanic inspect the vehicle, instead of, quoting "John"..."the mechanic WE use." had something to do with his resulting actions and misrepresentations. read more

I had occasion to donate an older automobile that I no longer used. I looked into several alternatives and chose Car Donation Services as they seemed to be interested in making it the best deal they could for me, the charity I selected, and, of course, themselves. They made the process very easy and gave me clear answers to my questions. I just received their notification of the amount they sold the car for, and it is clear to me that they did make a serious effort to maximize everyone's benefit from the transaction rather than going for a quick and easy turnover.
