Bottom of the cake overcooked and tough with no milk at the bottom and as tres leches cake should be.

Bought a cookies and cream cake from Capy on 88th for our daughter's 9th birthday and the cake was delicious. We thought about that cake since, it was so good! Fast forward to today, our daughter is 11 and decided to order the same cake. This time the cake was overcooked and we were underwhelmed. Was not soaked as a tres leches cake should be. The bottom was clearly tough. It just didn't taste the same. So disappointed. Sad to say we won't be coming back to them for another cake anytime soon.

I randomly found this cake store along Roosevelt Avenue under the 7 Train. I walked in and realized they had all kinds of tres leches cake. I love tres leches cakes. This cake store/bakery looked really clean from outside. Once I walked inside....it is even more clean which is impressive being that it's located right underneath the 7 train. There is so much space in this retail store that I didn't understand why they didn't make it into a cafe with tables and chairs. If you are not familiar with what a tres leches cake is, tres leches cake is in Spanish, three milks cake which is a cake that is soaked in three kinds of milk: evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream. It's my favorite kind of cake because it's moist all the time since it's soaked in milk. The cake doesn't fall apart...it is wet but without being too soggy. I don't know how that can be, but it works. Only problem is, I am lactose intolerant...but for this slice of cake, I am willing to take a palm of about 20 lactase enzyme supplements. Capy has a variety of flavored tres leches cakes. Capy is a chain of cake stores that originated in Mexico. Capy mostly sells 9-inch diameter cakes that range from $38-$45. A 9-inch cake will feed about 12-15 people. The best part for me is Capy also sells slices of their cakes. I have tried the almond, mango and peach cake....I loved the mango the most. My boyfriend was making "....Mmmmm...." sounds alternating with exclamations of "...Oh My Gawd!.." at me when we were sharing the mango slice of cake. For $3.75, it is sure yummy!

Moras con queso...tres leches and cream cheese filling topped with blackberries

Light Latin Sweets If I didn't work in the neighborhood, I would have never known about this chain bakery. Their cakes are light and not overwhelmingly sweet. Their English isn't so good so you might have trouble ordering if you don't know what you want. I'm gonna let this secret out that I've been keeping for quite a while. Their best cake is a hybrid Tres Leches Cake with cheese cream, with blackberry jam topping. The bottom layer is decadent Tres Leches and the "Cheese Cream" taste like cheese cake. It is called "Moras Con Queso." I usually don' enjoy sweets but this Moras Con Queso is one of the best cakes I've ever had in my life. They might have a slice if you are lucky but you have to order in advance to acquire a whole cake. Moras con Queso is a must!

Love their cakes. They are so delicious and the best thing is they were able to customize my favorite flavors for a baby shower!

4/5 food 2/5 service…read more This is a quiet, cash-only spot. I came here to do some work, and get a small snack. I came in around 1:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. It was dead empty with the exception of one person waiting for their to-go order, and entire time I was sitting there eating and drinking, only three other customers came in. I walked up to the counter to see what the food options were (the onigiri is on display in a case, kinda like a deli shop), and the drink menu is up hanging up high in small print behind the counter. The cashier asked me immediately what I wanted and I told him I was still looking at the menu; he told me to call him over once I was ready so he didn't have to stand. Once I ordered, he asked me if I have cash and asked if they were cash only to which he said yes. Side note: if a shop is cash only, signs should be posted in multiple areas (on the door, at the counter, etc.), and this place did not have any signs. I got the salmon onigiri and a hot lemon ginger honey tea and it came to $8. The tea is from those pre-made jars that you can purchase at any Asian market. The onigiri was very tasty and the rice was very soft. One of the better ones I've had in NYC. After I ordered, I saw a "no laptops" sign tucked away in the corner. So there went my plans of working in a quiet shop, though I did hop on a zoom meeting for an hour on my phone. I made it work. This is a cute spot for grab-and-go, though the service could use improvement. And considering there are no customers, I don't know why there's no laptop rule.

The owner was super friendly, welcoming and just the type of person that makes you want to visit again. Food: wanted to try their sushi but they ran out. The owner said he only makes a certain amount for the day and once they run out, he doesn't make more. I had the calamari sandwich and the pork sandwich. Both very tasty but a bit overpriced for my opinion. $10 for a pork sandwich seems a bit much. They really need to update the online menu because it says $5 on it so was quite shocked when I got there and saw the price. All in all, it is a nice place to visit with great staff and yummy food but with that price, won't be going as often as I would like.

Love that they put all their sandwiches in butcher paper. Fresh sliced meats and cheeses. Hubby didn't like the crusty roll but I thought it was great. They have "cash" prices and "credit card" prices. The first night we didn't have the $.50 change and the guy said don't worry about it. Went back the next night and got ham, egg and cheese roll $7, and bacon, egg and cheese roll $7 and another Italian hero $15. We got these specifically to put in the refrigerator for the next day. They reheated beautifully. A lot of bacon on the roll. The last day we were there, I got the Philly cheesesteak $10 and another ham, egg and cheese $7. The Philly was a little greasy but was just as good as the one we had the night before in Philadelphia. This store is full from wall to wall. If they don't have it, you don't need it.

I Also stated that I have paperwork and I can bring it. They both said no it's okay to proceed to keep on making humor out of the situation. They also tried to gaslight me saying I had ate something else, when I was very open and transparent with them to let them know my situation about that night that I had came and gotten a sandwich from them. Accountability was never took and reassurance was never given. It was also an elderly man with a blue hat that made the sandwich)
