    While roasted crab

We had the whole roasted Dungeness crab dinner (found on Groupon). Everything was fresh and delicious. The service was attentive. The old Italian seafood restaurant atmosphere , complete with Italian oldies music , was all part of a great evening.

We came here for dinner because I had a Groupon for dinner. Now, for $85 dollars we got. 2 whole dungeness crabs,a large Caesar salad, large angel hair pasta with garlic olive oil,and a large loaf of Boudin sourdough bread. I know right!! All that delicious food for a great price. Everything was absolutely delicious. And came out nice and hot. We also got to meet the owner who was very nice and told us the crab we had was caught that morning. The only thing was that our server was kinda non existent. Probably because you have to order your food first then find a table to wait for your food. It would be nice to order from the table instead. But thats ok. We really enjoyed our evening out. I will be back again.

Was surprised it wasn't busier on a Friday evening, not complaining! Had the chicken Parmesan panini and it was really good. Reasonable off street parking close by. Ghirardelli Square is a short walk away for a post-meal dessert

Stopped here for lunch today! It's counter service, that actually kinda through me off for a min , doesn't seem to match the set up they way but whatever. We had the fish and chips and shrimp and chips ! Food cake out super hot so we needed to wait a couple minutes! Both dishes were served fries also piping hot! Hose made tarter sauce full of fresh dill Delicious and definitely worth going back!

Nothing like subpar food again in Fisherman's Wharf. 2.5 stars I feel like this is a tourist trap. Minute maid lemonade at bar prices, heavy mayonnaise not flavorful crab sandwich, luke warm clam chowder. Genuinely sad and overpriced oysters Rockefeller and heavily battered fish. If you're starving and need a place like we were then that's why you're here. I don't expect this business to last with food and prices like this.

Sometimes I have to remind myself how incredibly dodgy it can be to eat at Fisherman's Wharf. Some places like Franciscan Crab and The Codmother Fish & Chips break out from the pack and actually provide satisfying experiences. I had a good clam chowder at the bar at Blue Mermaid, so I figured maybe after all these years of avoidance that a visit to Capurro's could be worthwhile. Was I being naive? The answer was an emphatic YES. First, I had to wait an inordinate amount of time to be seated at a table hidden from the rest of the dining room. Not sure why. Looking at the menu, I was struck that they offer a $13.99 Small Louie Salad with romaine and iceberg lettuce, sliced avocado, spring onion, grape tomatoes, and a hard-boiled egg, ladled in their Louie dressing (Photo 5). The ingredients varied in freshness with the avocado looking pretty dark and the spring onion barely there. The dressing was mixed with the chopped lettuce and nothing else. I had never heard of a Louie without shrimp or crab automatically included. I could've had shrimp for an additional $10.99, so a true Shrimp Louie costs $25 for the small. The addition of crab is offered at "market price". Who knows how much you'd be spending on the crab? The $8.99 cup of Clam Chowder was described not as New England-style but as 'White' (Photo 6). That might have something to do with the dearth of clams or any recognizable seafood flavor for that matter. I wasn't offered any bread, but at least I got the bag of oyster crackers. The chowder certainly needed something to give it texture. FOOD - 2 stars...Louie without shrimp, chowder without much flavor AMBIANCE - 2.5 stars...not sure why I was hidden away in their cavernous space but I could guess SERVICE - 2 stars...where did he go? TOTAL - 2 stars...a genuine tourist trap...back to Blue Mermaid for me RELATED - Exploring Fisherman's Wharf? Here's my collection of places l've visited and reviewed: https:// bit.ly/2HyFdzC

No wonder why they've been around since 1946.... The food and service were excellent. We ordered the crab arancini, clam chowder, and clam and garlic flatbread. This was enough for 2 people to share, the portions were just right. The decor is pretty cool nautical themed, but still also gives off old italian restaurant vibes with jazz and frank sinatra playing in the background

Great place to go to when coming to fisherman's wharf and ghiradelli square. Very family friendly as they greet you at the door. You come in and order at the bar on your right and then find a place to sit. The food itself is fantastic! We ordered the garlic and cheese sourdough bread (for the kids), a meatball sandwich and the two crispy taco's. The bread was soft and fluffy and very flavorful (sourdough). Fish was fresh and the meatball sandwich was very filling! Oh, speaking of family friendly, they also have clean changing tables for diapers in the bathrooms. Overall and excellent place to go between fisherman's wharf and ghiradelli square!

Absolutely divine veggie flatbread -- all ingredients were super fresh
    Christine N.

Loved my visit here for their veggie flatbread. It was an absolute treat, soft fluffy bread with crispy exterior and bottom. All the toppings tasted extremely fresh, too. It exceeded my expectations because I was used to smaller portions and thinner breading. Another surprise was their crab arancine (fried risotto crab ball), which had a zesty lemon flavor that was hidden in the sauce on the plate. It made each bite that much more enjoyable. Thank you to the staff here for such a delicious lunch! Service was fast, friendly, and welcoming.

You order your meal at the bar and they bring it to the table. Fish and chips were good and we had sides of veggie and salad that also tasted good.

While we were outside, we made friendly conversation with a bartender. I overheard another bartender come out for a cigarette and call him by name, so I jokingly used his name while asking if we could come in. Shortly after, a friend who was already inside came out simply to check on us and see why we were still outside. The bartender then told her to "get the f*ck out of my face" and instructed staff not to let her or us in, even though my friend hadn't done anything wrong. It was so confusing and extremely inappropriate. The behavior was unnecessarily hostile and disrespectful. This bar does not treat its customers with basic courtesy, and that bartender showed zero professionalism or customer service skills.

It was founded by Anton "Tony" Nikitovich and quickly became a gathering place for the neighborhood's Italian and Croatian communities, where people came to swap stories, argue politics, and enjoy a stiff drink after a long day. And honestly, that tradition carried on well into the years when many of us became regulars. I hadn't been back for a few years until recently, when I decided to stop in again. The bar wasn't overly busy, but a handful of neighborhood folks were sitting at the counter, trading stories over their drinks. It felt instantly familiar. Not much has changed since the early 2000s when I used to come here regularly, and that's exactly what makes Tony Nik's special. Step inside, and it still feels like a mid-century film set: tufted leather seating, a long wooden bar that's seen nearly a century of San Francisco history, and that iconic neon sign glowing outside. While much of the city has reinvented itself again and again, Tony Nik's somehow held onto its soul. It's a grown-up bar without being stuffy, no loud club music, no trendy gimmicks, just well-made cocktails, a classic jukebox, and an atmosphere that feels earned rather than manufactured. The bar stayed in the Nikitovich family for decades, and the current owners were wise enough to preserve both the name and the vintage character Tony originally created. It's one of those rare places that reminds you what North Beach used to be, and, thankfully, still is.
