We did arrive around 5. I had the Blackened Grouper Sandwich and my wife had the Popcorn Shrimp. The grouper was excellent and the Blackening spice was mild and not overwhelming. My wife enjoyed the shrimp. There was easily a couple dozen shrimp. The dish could easily be shared. Our friends had the Snapper Imperial and Stuffed Shrimp. The food was good and decently priced. We first were told it would be a hour wait so we opted to dine inside or outside. we waited 40 minutes before being told we could stay outside and order. The server was nice until the end. Then she stopped with refills and was annoyed when we said one plate was missing an item. We were missing another item too and were told they had ran out of both. Great meal! It was a little bit if a drive from PCB but it was well worth it. Generous portions, fresh, and very inexpensive. We went pretty early so we were sat immediately and had such a friendly server. The grouper throat is a must try. It's a ton of fish and well seasoned. The fried seafood was great as well. It took approximately fifteen minutes before someone asked if we had been taken care of. We started to walk out but I wanted to see if it was better than the pre- Hurricane Michael version. A laid back restaurant that's not real fancy but very good in the things that count. Great raw oysters which are hard to find in restaurants now, because of the hurricane from a while ago that destroyed the oyster bays down here. They also have quite a few different fresh fish on the menu as well as crab claws and salads. I had something called Grouper throats which are just that. Something that's normally thrown away, it really is the meaty neck area and good. One fish they had was Mullet which I've never seen in a restaurant before. They're normally considered a trash fish but I talked to guy there that was eating it and he said it was good as any fish. Sides like cheese grits and coleslaw were all yummy . There is outside eating and the tables here are picnic tables. We ate at the bar and enjoyed watching the action with the oyster shucker and the hectic pace of the servers. We give it five stars and it's our favorite restaurant so far on this trip. Street parking and a surface down the block. The waterfront is across the street as is the other great restaurant Uncle Ernie's. read more

The she crab soup was somewhat cold, baked oysters luke warm and had clearly been sitting out a while. Stuffed shrimp over cooked, tuna dip delicious. Calamari was rubbery and barely had any meat outside of the breading. Seafood platter had a lot to be desired and was luke warm, and the cheeseburger, well, don't do that at a seafood place because you will be disappointed. After a couple years of being closed from Hurricane Matthew, we finally came back to eat at one of our favorite spots in town. Waited 30 minutes to be seated which is fair for a Saturday night. Service was a little slow, took 45 minuets from sat till our food came out. I order the fried grouper throats with cheese grits and new potatoes. I have mixed emotions about this place. We stumbled on it after running from the heinously loud cover band/live music blaring at the hostess stand at Hunts that had a 45 minute wait. Our first experience was at Captain's great. We had a wonderful waitress. I don't remember her name but she was a petite, curly headed brunette that was fast, efficient, friendly and contributed well to a pleasurable meal. Shrimp PoBoy was average, but the blackened grouper Sammy was the bomb. Fries were really good. Okra was traditional southern fried okra. Grouper Sandwich came with tartar, lettuce and tomato (with a slice of lemon). This was a solid 4.5-5 star meal. The grouper sandwich was so good, we decided to go back a week and a half later. Enter our waitress Amber who walked past our table at least three times after we were seated without acknowledgement. I wondered several times who our waitress was. She checked on the table next to us that already had their food two times before she eventually came over for our drink order (at least 10 mins after being seated and they were not busy -- weeknight in the off season). By that time we were ready to order. My husband ordered a soda and I ordered water... Amber seemed disappointed we were not ordering alcohol. I asked innocently if the sides were $4 ($3.99) and the cheese sticks were $5 could I sub cheese sticks with my meal for an upcharge? She literally BARKED back at me that it was not allowed, shaking her head vehemently as if I'd just committed a cardinal sin just for asking. I was so taken aback I was in shock. The only reason I asked is my husband is extremely lactose intolerant and it would've been a treat for me to enjoy something with my meal I don't usually have out or at home. It was not a special occasion and we don't just order appetizers on the regular and certainly not one that my hubs could not eat. We ordered our meal and it came rather quickly. This time the grouper sammies came with DRAWN BUTTER in a cup on our plates that had been sloshed around to the point of coating everything on my plate (bottom side of sammy, hushpuppy, lettuce, etc). Thankfully my husband did not have the same problem as he is prone to have stomach issues for days after eating something like that -- he had taken a pill which helped with the butter that was on the bun which we didn't remember had been toasted with butter the first time we went, but much more than a small amount and he would be affected. He's so concerned about inconveniencing anyone that he would never send back food because of his condition; he would just suffer through it. We asked for tartar sauce and put the butter on the side. All I could taste was the drawn butter throughout my meal, soaked into the bottom of the sandwich bun. It ruined my meal. I should've sent it back but was afraid of retaliation at that point because I knew she visibly saw my shock when I reacted to her response to my earlier question about the cheese sticks. Collard greens were the veggie of the day. They were decent. Zucchini, yellow squash and onions were the medley of the day and was decent but half way through eating I could see there was a huge chunk of uncooked zucchini in the mix. I have no idea how or why this would've happened... the rest of it was cooked fine. Amber continued to hover over the two ladies that were next to us that had ordered wine while giving us about a 1/3rd the attention. I'm not sure if we will go back. Atmosphere is good. Family friendly but also sports on the TVs for lively, engaging atmosphere. Lots of group tables for larger groups. On a $41 meal, we tipped $8 because we are decent people but prepandemic, we would've given Amber the bare minimum. Had we have gotten great service... well let's just say we take great service into account when tipping despite having not ordered alcohol. read more

Dinner with two of my besties last night at Captain's Table in St Andrews, PC. We had fantastic service from our waitress. She was attentive, even with a packed house.
