(3.5/5 Stars) After reading the reviews, I was excited to try Captain's Table while visiting Panama City Beach. Overall, the service was outstanding, but the food was a bit of a mixed bag. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a wonderful hostess with a warm smile and a friendly attitude. My party of five chose to sit in the bar area and were seated immediately. Our server, Trent, was fantastic! He was personable, attentive, knowledgeable, and happy to answer all of our questions. The customer service was definitely one of the highlights of the evening. We started with salads and appetizers. I ordered the garden salad with Caesar dressing. The dressing was absolutely delicious--one of the best parts of the meal--but the salad itself was disappointing. It consisted mostly of romaine lettuce with just a tiny slice of onion, a couple of cucumber pieces, and a few carrot strips. The crab cakes, on the other hand, were excellent! They were flavorful and paired perfectly with the remoulade sauce, which tasted fresh and homemade. For my entrée, I ordered the stuffed shrimp. Unfortunately, it fell well below my expectations. The dish consisted of seven shrimp, each topped with just a small dab of crab stuffing. While the sauce was delicious, the overall presentation and portion of the stuffing left the dish feeling underwhelming. Around the table, opinions were mixed. The fried okra and hush puppies were both big hits, and everyone agreed the oysters were excellent. However, the Captain's Platter was a little disappointing, and the blackened fish was heavily over-seasoned for a couple of people in our group. Overall, Captain's Table delivered exceptional service but inconsistent food. I may come back to try some of the fried seafood since it looked really good on other tables, but based on this visit, I'll give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. read more

Came here on a busy Saturday night. Poppy was are server. We had a party of 10 and she did an amazing job and got everything right! The food was amazing. Fish is pretty good. Oysters are always good. Shrimp can be hit or miss. Cheese grits are good. Most of the sides are really good so are the desserts. Service is always good. read more

If you love seafood, this is the place for you. We enjoyed raw oysters, oyster rockefeller, the smoked fish dip, and oyster po' boy. Everything was amazing, staff was so friendly and efficient, and were very dog friendly. The outdoor patio has options for under the patio or in the sun. Plenty of heaters if needed. read more

I had heard great things about this place so I had high expectations. It started off really great. We were told 1.5 hours was the wait. We walked down to the water to waste time and came back and sat at our table in less than an hour. It really is in a great location, sorta boho area really quaint. After we sat the waitress answered all of our questions and took our orders quickly. Our drinks came out in a timely fashion and the salads and appetizers came out quickly too. We ran into our first issue the chips and dip weren't good and there was a hair in the dip which went into my mouth. After some fishing around, I was able to pull the hair out. The dip was charred a little too much and the chips were stale. Several people at the table got she crab soup. Where's the crab? And it tasted awful, too much cream or something it was just off. We waited over an hour for the actual main dishes to arrive. My wife and I both got grilled fish with sides. One of my sides was unavailable so I had to replace it with a different side. We both had thin small pieces of flavorless overcooked fish. The sides were fine, not great but ok. For 2 undersized flavorless overcooked fish plates and 2 drinks my wife and I paid almost $100. We felt ripped off. No one at our table was happy with this place. Other people at our table had ice cold food, we had to send more than 1 dish back to be heated up, this is unacceptable. To sum up overpriced, overcooked and slow service. Will not return. read more

At first, we were excited to see the outdoor seating wasn't busy... then once seated because there was a wait for indoor seating, the flies were extremely bad (not entirely much you can do about that but maybe put fly traps? ) there were large fans running too but not enough . Service was pretty slow. The kids meal, I immediately put in when we ordered our drinks so they can eat as soon as possible (that was quick) .. however, the grown ups, it took a while to get our meals and a table behind us who arrived after us were served quicker) - there were 3 of us adults . The outdoor area has nice Decor and games for the kiddos and adults to play while waiting even while the adults ate the meals. I more than likely will not return to this location. read more

This is not The Captain's Table I remember. Wait time was minimal as we had a reservation. The experience started downhill when we asked for lemons and the waitress asked us how many. We literally had to raise our hands like grade schoolers and she counted. Everything we asked for or wanted seemed like a chore to her. Salads were delivered seconds before the meal which annoys me, especially when there is an up charge for them. Food portions were smaller than they used to be but still ample. Ordered the fried seafood platter. The hush puppies and shrimp were delicious I must say. However, the baked potato was cold and wouldn't melt butter, the scallops were nickel sized and chewy, and the grouper "sticks" were like rubber. One person in our party had no shrimp on her plate and had to ask for it. Another only received two hush puppies when everyone else had four. Very inconsistent plating. Tartar sauce was delivered and we were eat allotted one. She ran out of what was in her basket so she just didn't come back. Of course tip was included with a large party. However, 20% was a hard pill to swallow when she was less than hospitable. read more

The restaurant is very clean and spacious, lots of outdoor seating too during nice weather. The service was top notch and the old fashioned was perfectly made. Highly recommend! It's location is great as it's one block away from the water so you can take a stroll after your meal. The restaurant appears to be a spot frequented by locals and thier families so it was a positive, bustling atmosphere. As far as food, I started with a cup of gumbo, it had plenty of meat it was pretty good. For dinner I had the grouper throats, cheese grits and the vegetable of the day (Collard greens). The service was good, but that's where the good ends. This place is super expensive for the amount of food they serve. Me, my wife, and my 4 year old son ate there and spent $120, and we are still hungry. So don't go there starving. The oysters are very small comparative to other restaurants I have been too charging less for larger oysters. First time visiting Captain's Table. We are locals, so always looking for a new restaurant to try. We saw Captain's Table a month ago when eating down the street. We live in Panama City Beach, so we're always learning about new places. There were four of us and everyone was very pleased with the food and service. There was no wait in a Saturday night. We did arrive around 5. I had the Blackened Grouper Sandwich and my wife had the Popcorn Shrimp. The grouper was excellent and the Blackening spice was mild and not overwhelming. My wife enjoyed the shrimp. There was easily a couple dozen shrimp. The dish could easily be shared. Our friends had the Snapper Imperial and Stuffed Shrimp. Both were very good and highly recommended. Will definitely return and try some other items. read more

The food was good and decently priced. We first were told it would be a hour wait so we opted to dine inside or outside. we waited 40 minutes before being told we could stay outside and order. The server was nice until the end. Then she stopped with refills and was annoyed when we said one plate was missing an item. We were missing another item too and were told they had ran out of both. We were not offered any togo drinks or boxes. I had to go inside to another server and ask for a togo box and the check. By the nights end we had been there 2.5 hours.
