Grouper Imperial
Lindsey L.

Came downtown to grab dinner but the place we intended to go was closed, and after checking other restaurants in the area, we ended up at Harrison's. We ate here on a Sunday night at 5:30 - half of the tables were empty. Our service was absolutely horrendous. We were seated for at least 15 minutes before we finally flagged down a waiter and asked them who our server was. After another 5 minutes, someone came to the table and gave us a lame excuse about our table being assigned to someone who had left earlier. They brought us our drinks, and then our appetizer - we got a burrata salad which was okay but nothing amazing. For advertising "sliced heirloom tomatoes" it was disappointing to receive a mix of cherry tomatoes. Even after the long wait to be greeted, it was also a very long time before the food was served. My food (blackened shrimp tacos) arrived lukewarm and was alright. My partner got the grouper imperial - he enjoyed the sauce but mentioned the rest of the dish was flavorless. My mother-in-law got the braised short ribs and was disappointed when her "roasted vegetables" arrived raw. Granted - they did give us a 20% discount because of the awful service, however knowing the service is so bad it has to be discounted without even saying anything is disheartening. Ironically enough, as we were getting up to leave, a table seated well before our departure was complaining about how nobody had been to their table to get their drink order and it had been a while. Ultimately, not worth the price for the food, and the service was bad enough that we will not be returning.

Food was good. I didn't love the sauce on the grouper bites (it was like an Asian inspired sauce) but fish inside was very flaky and soft. Tuna inside the tuna tacos was very good and fresh. Service was ok. They were very busy but did the best they could. The patio has a great view of the bay and cute furniture and outdoor area. Cute for a date night or place to grab a drink.

Harrison's Seafood Dinner

The only thing keeping this from being a one-star review is the beautiful waterfront location and the fact that one dish--our friend's CAB Filet--was actually good. Aside from that, our experience at Harrison Seafood and Bar was a letdown. Despite the restaurant not being full, it took over an hour from the time we placed our order to when the food finally arrived. By that point, everyone at the table was starving. What made it worse was the complete lack of communication--no one checked on us, no apology for the delay, and we had to track down our server just to get an update. I ordered the Seafood Platter and was surprised by how small it was, especially for the price. To top it off, the side dish didn't arrive until 10 minutes after the main plate was served. While the food wasn't terrible, it certainly wasn't anything special--and definitely not worth the cost. Before we left, we spoke with the manager. She did apologize for the poor service and offered a 10% discount. While we appreciated the gesture, it didn't come close to making up for the frustrating experience. Sadly, this visit left a bad taste in more ways than one. We don't plan to return and wouldn't recommend this place to others.

Steak Oscar style

First night, had a great steak and service. Second night had a very "mid" level grouper fish tacos with Mac and cheese as the side. The Mac had little flavor if any and was very "limp". The tacos were kinda "mid" to be honest. I came back a second time due to the great steak the first night, hoping for the prime rib the second night but they were out. Disappointed enough in the second meal to not return for a third for anytime soon.

I think it's time to upgrade the dishes, and I don't just mean the food. Seems like they're trying to over complicate the new menu to match their ridiculously high prices. Went in for a drink and a snack. The peach sangria ($14) was great, which is why they get 2 stars. The peel and eat shrimp appetizer left a lot to be desired though ($24) It was cooked correctly, the shrimp was not over or undercooked, they were quite large and the portion was just enough for two to share, but there wasn't much flavor (unless you consider butter a flavor). It was also meant to come with bread, which was missing, and I had to ask and wait a long time for cocktail sauce. The sweet potato fries were just ok ($7) and slightly overcooked. But the moscato ($12) was not chilled and tasted old and sour. Overall, the experience was very disappointing. It's my third time trying to give this place a chance but I was left with a sour taste in my mouth. With 30a pricing I'd expect more than chipped up cheap plastic dishes and a lukewarm experience.

My server, Madelyn was great. Most of the staff are young college age people, all were very professional and friendly. The food is adequate nothing spectacular. The atmosphere is very beachy. Airy and open which give you a spacious view of the bay from all sides. If you have an over night stay at the Indigo Hotel in Panama City you can receive a 15% off your dining experience at the Harrison's Kitchen & Bar.

Great views of the bay and a magnificent sunset. Servers and staff were attentive and helpful. We doubled down on the grouper for a starter and our main course. Chef's kiss!

Smoked Tuna Dip Oysters on the Half

The BEST sweet potato fries ever! Never had any like them before! We will be back just for the sweet potato fries alone lol! I had the fish tacos they were okay, a little bland needed a lot of hot sauce but the sweet potato fries and drinks sold me! Definitely will be back! Oysters were also great! Can't go wrong with some tuna dip either!

We stopped in for lunch! Great aesthetic, good service, decent cocktails and grub. They get you with the views. We started with the tuna stack and it was good, albeit a bit dry (needs hot sauce and lemon). We tried out the Rosemary Black Lemonade and Strawberry Basil Mule which were both delicious and great size for the price. We ordered the shrimp and mahi tacos - splitting each. They have crinkle fries (sigh) for inquiring minds. Overall the food was good and the service was spectacular. If we came back with better weather I'd like happy hour out on the patio!

I find myself having to give praise where it's do. I don't leave my house looking for places to give a bad report. That being said, I really enjoy it when I can give positive feedback to an establishment. Harrison's just earned that respect. The location is on the pier in downtown Panama City and the view and ambience is stunning and worthy of visiting. I have been coming to PC for many years. I know quite a few local residents and they never mentioned Harrison. Me and my family were in town and looking for a good place to eat. I know several and we attempted to go to them but they were so backed up we opted to try some where else that was less crowded. My wife and my sister found Harrison's and I immediately called some of the people I know who live here. They all said the same thing I have never been there so I can't comment. Please let me know how it is if you go there. We did go and let me tell you they are on our list now and we will take all our family and friends there when they visit us. The restaurant is large and spacious both inside and out on the patio with beautiful views from all the seating. We were seated within 3 minutes because we did make reservations. Our waitress came out and greeted us shortly after we were seated. Might I inform you the place was busy and was catering 3 events at the same time. We placed our order and began to enjoy the ambience of our evening. Then things took a turn for the worst as our food was running considerably long even though we know they were very busy. That's when I asked for the manager our waitress went and delivered the message and then cam back to check on us and said the Mgr was on the way. Upon returning back to our table with food the waitress was followed by the Mgr who helped bring our food. He came and spoke to me and we step away from the table so they could began to eat. I explained to him what had happened. He did not give me the usual I'm sorry excuse we are so busy. He said please accept our apologies how can we make it right. It was at that moment I knew the experience was going to be great. He addressed the entire table and said please let me know if anything else was not to our liking and he would make it right. Everyone really enjoyed their meals and Josh the bartender made excellent drinks nothing turned out bad even though I was ready to give them some words for being late. The lateness was quickly forgotten and it ended up being our best night out for the entire week. I don't want to forget the cheery and happy attitude of our waitress (Junae) and the positive mental attitude of the manager (Keith) that made the experience exceptional. I did some research and found out that they did had some problems about 10 months ago but I am now a witness that they did Improvise, Adapt and Overcome and became a 5 star restaurant with a lot of hard work. I am happy to state that this is an outstanding restaurant. I highly recommend to all my family and friends who visit. In closing I would like to say the character of a business does not come from how many situations they find themselves in, it definitely comes from how they handle it, job well done Harrison,s.

We really enjoyed the ambiance, the decor, the food. The wedge salad was FIVE STARS. Very tasty. The shrimp banger appetizer was yummy. Maybe needed more sauce. My mom really enjoyed the fish tacos. Our server Olivia was very attentive & gave us Excellent service. Also appreciated the 15% military discount. We will be back!

Bartender exceptional, Ambiance superior, food fresh and delicious! They hit all the reasons to be a hot spot!! They may do a teacher happy hour, it should happen and we would full the house. Oh and the chicken flats absolutely no complaints!!

Ask the Community - Harrison's Kitchen & Bar

Does this restaurant have condiments available because I've seen 2 reviews for the chicken Nashville sandwich and both had 2 dry slices of bread, a dried up piece of plain chicken, a side of pickles and some lettuce. No Mayo, no sauce, nothing?

It's dry as hell....we asked for more nashville hot sauce and it's just a spicey oil really and not that hot either. It came on 2 pieces of crusty garlic bread. The chicken was dry but huge. Nothing came on it when we got it. It needs moisture!

Best Fried Chicken in Panama City or Panama City Beach -- truly!…read more This is THE fried chicken: perfectly seasoned, thickly breaded, explosively crisp! Absolute YUM. But then... the sides... Who serves fried chicken and doesn't offer chicken gravy for the mashed potatoes? I asked, and the reply was: "We have brown and white." Brown and White??? That's a fried‑chicken sin. And the sin deepened when the "mashed potatoes" turned out to be so watery they could practically be served in a cup. I mentioned it to the waitress, who explained, "We use a mix of instant and real potatoes." OH‑kaaay. My response: "Way too much water." Meanwhile, I'm wondering where the butter and cream went. For reference: I took a skinny straw and actually sucked the potatoes through it. That's how thin they were. The vegetables, however, were genuinely delicious -- classic Southern style and well prepared. A surprise hit: the fried hoecakes. Imagine Jiffy sweet corn muffin mix dropped by the scoop full into the fryer. Oddly enough, they were even better dipped into the "brown" gravy (which tasted suspiciously like modified yeast extract). Look, I understand stretching product and using convenience items. But if you're going to cut corners, do it on pre‑slicing the desserts -- not on the core of a Southern plate. My suggestion to the owners: Lean into what you do exceptionally well -- that phenomenal fried chicken. Sell it by the bucket! I'll come buy it! Trim the sprawling buffet, reinvest in real mashed potatoes with butter and cream, make real gravies, and offer a rotating blue‑plate menu. Do fewer things excellently instead of trying to be an "everything" restaurant and missing the mark on the basics. The chicken is worth the trip. The sides could be, too, with a little love.

The place is huge, very spacious with both indoor and water-side outdoor seating.... something I'm not used to seeing in Los Angeles. It almost felt like a studio set at Universal. Definitely a lot of Bayou character! Service staff was young and friendly, without any of the pretentious I'm used to in La. The folks are real, and I appreciate that. Her fish was undercooked and her mac and cheese side was very, very soupy. Not creamy but watery. My blackened fish was also a bit too translucent for my liking and I microwaved it for 30 seconds before finishing it. I had turnip greens and coleslaw for my sides. Turnip greens were ok but the coleslaw had hard, ground up cabbage cores in it. I'm hoping that today was a one-off experience.
