Following the microburst storm that hit Philadelphia on July 11, 2026, Alonso and his team did excellent work to remove 4 fallen trees, 3 of which hit my house. Alonso was professional and clear in all of his communication with me from the initial walk-through around my property to the days of complex work on my property to the final celebration of liberating our home from the massive oak tree that fell on and remained on my house until they removed it. It was a complex job and Captain's Tree Service was up to every aspect of it. I don't have sufficient words to describe how confident I was in having Captain's do the work to remove the trees. I am forever grateful for their superb work and careful attention to my requests. I will never forget them. Had Captains come out to remove 14 trees. Crew arrived and did a nice job at first. Had to tell them they took branches off one of the trees and never cut it down. This required them to take the lift back into the area to cut it down. The crew started speaking spanish and laughing. The joke was on them (I also speak spanish). Clean up was subpar. I called the office and asked to speak to the owner. After the second call on Monday he called back right away.Was very apologetic and asked for photos of areas which were sent within 30 minutes. He said they would send a crew out to take care of the areas needing cleaned up. This was a week ago and no show from Captains tree service. Captain's Tree Service is amazing. We reached out and Alzono came out and did a consultation with us. We had two Arborvitae trees falling over and one was falling into our neighbors yard. Alzono explained the reasons why the 2 Arborvitae trees were falling and a few different ways in which we could handle it. We decided to remove all 9 Arborvitae trees because of the current and future issues we would have and wanted to start over. Alzono and his crew came out and had them down in a flash. They ripped up the stumps and roots as well. We also had 2 bushes removed and a small tree. They planted 10 smaller 5-6 foot Arborvitae trees and mulched. Alonzo even through in little flowers in between the spaces and added fertilizer on his own so the job was done right. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was very affordable and was well below what I had expected.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They even mulched the front garden with the left over. His staff is very friendly and the work was done fast. I could not believe how quick it was done and it was done beautifully. I could not have asked for better service. I was the one I gave them a one star initially for their service to remove a tree from my roof. A few days after the incident the company called me to apologize form their unprofessionalism and to let them take care of the tree removal at a discount so they can show me their service. We schedule a date for Nov. 25. A whole crew came and started to work at my house taking down branches and trees as discussed. They were professional and got the work done. I am happy to say they did a great job and am happy with their service and would use them again. read more

I engaged Captain's Tree Service to remove several trees on my property including a large oak, two cedar trees, and a large gum tree. I expressed my concerns about other trees above my bedroom and requested their removal, but the tree professional convinced me that trimming the dead parts would suffice. I reluctantly agreed and trusted their expertise. Unfortunately, dead branches continued to fall onto our roof over the next two years, causing me to fear for the safety of my home. I reached out to the company for assistance and was disappointed with the unprofessional response I received. The representative I spoke with was dismissive and refused to address my concerns. Despite having spent ~5k with the company, I was treated poorly and felt unheard. This issue was a result of the company's recommendation, not my own decision to save money. I regret not choosing a more trustworthy and empathetic company. I do wish he took the time to learn about the situation and offered some solutions, I don't expect him to work for free, but possibly look at the price i paid, and estimate what the additional cost of that job would have been at the time of contract and charge that amount. If they wanted to go above and beyond they could have added this stop to a route one day and did it and had a customer for life. It was infuriating the way this was handled. We used Captains several years ago to remove trees from the rear of our property. There was an issue with the neighbor & for $600 the issue would resolved. Captains asked us to split the $600 with them. Not wanting to start a conflict with the neighbors, we agreed to split cost with Captains & paid them $300 of the $600. Come to find out, the neighbors only wanted $300 so Captains never paid their share. I would never use this company & I've persuaded many friends to NOT use them. Hope that $300 was worth it! Using manpower and machines they protected my lawn, raked and cleaned everything up. All this was done at an awesome price. I highly recommend Captain's Tee Service. They removed a huge tall tree from my yard which was spreading over a fence into my neighbor's yard as well. They had a team of men who did it extremely carefully so as not to land branches on the fence or into my neighbor's yard. They also trimmed other trees and removed all debris. Not often do you meet people who are kind and not often do you meet a business owner who puts people and in my case, an animal over money. On Saturday my kitten ran up a tree and was scared to come down. The cops, fire station, nor the Humane Society was able to assist me. I was told not to worry, that her natural instincts would kick in when she got hungry enough and that she would climb down the tree on her own. On day three I began to panic and I called Captain's Tree Service. I spoke with Alonzo, I believe that he is the owner. Not only was he willing to help, but he was genuinely concerned that my cat had been in the tree for such an extended amount of time. That day, thanks to Alonzo and his crew, my cat was rescued! There is a saying that "cats have nine lives" and I am convinced that Alonzo saved one of hers. Given her small size and the height of the tree, I don't know how much longer she would have been able to hang on before falling to her death. And the kicker is....Alonzo did not charge me a dime! My cat managed to climb 50 feet up a tree and was unable to climb down. I was upset and afraid for my cat as he had been in the tree for nearly 36 hours. I called the local fire department but they were not able to help so as a last resort I called Captain's Tree Service to see if they could help. Joe and his team were courteous and compassionate with me and were quickly able to climb the tree and rescue my cat!!! This was a terrible experience. They are unorganized and clearly do not communicate with each other or their clients very well. Not only did they not complete the job they were asked to do the first time through but they were impossible to communicate with throughout the entire process. They pushed my original appointment back (due to the storm) which I understand, there are other people in need. Nailing down a time after they stepped away to help others became nearly impossible and I felt like they just squeezed me in. Attempted to collect payment before finishing the job and were extremely unorganized in payment communication and collection. When I spoke with the OWNER to share my displeasure rather than apologize and understand he instead questioned what projects I was being held up from while waiting for them to finish the job. This was a terrible experience and I would recommend not using them for your tree removal needs. read more
