Recently Tree and Land Masters took care of shaping and pruning several trees on our property. All of our trees and bushes that they worked on look great. Of special note - the mock cherry tree looks like a giant mushroom and will bloom back awesome in the spring. i hired Tree Masters twice to remove several dead trees from my property. They are quick and capable of removing trees. The first time I used them they broke a large branch from a healthy tree. i called several times to have them remove the limb until I gave up. The limb eventually fell in it's own without injury or damage. Do to my lack of knowledge, time and a series of bad experiences with local businesses, I hired them again to remove the remaining 2 dead trees on my property. I told them I needed the wood chips and they informed me they do that off site and would return with wood chips. I called several times after they removed the trees until I once again gave up. In addition, while removing one of the trees, they broke one split wood fence rail and 2 slates on a privacy fence. After a lot of hooting and hollering, the foreman told me his employee responsible for the damage would give me a $20 for the damage. I did not take it. It's a year later and the fences ate still broken and I have no wood chips. This review is late. I've had way too many more important things to deal with. I'd love to forget about this but I think about Sometimes when i look at the broken fences. Anyone know where I can get a ton of wood chips delivered to my backyars and 2 fences fixed for a $20? if ypu are super diligent, and a man, go ahead and use this company. Highly recommend! I received several quotes from other companies and their prices were very reasonable. They even called when they had a cancellation allowing me to have the work completed earlier then expected. I hired them to remove 3 large maple trees from my backyard and to grind down about a dozen existing tree stumps from my property. They cleaned up everything upon completion(including several existing tree logs which were left on my property by a previous company). Got an estimate from the owner Andy and accepted. Was followed up the same day with an appointment for tree removal two weeks later. His team removed a total of about 20 trees from my yard. His crew was extremely nice, personable and professional. Worked on my yard the entire day removing all trees, debris and bushes. Ground all the stumps on the property no matter how small. UPDATED FROM 3 STARS TO 4 due to owner's personal apology and gift card. But because our project timeline was so affected, original text review remains. If you have a straight-up tree project, uncomplicated, no hard deadlines with contractors coming in after the work, and it's not their busy season, you'll be fine using Tree Masters. Their company is better than most in the area in that regard. Unfortunately our job was a bit more complicated, and found that Andy would over-promise and under deliver. We would have MUCH preferred him to just say "no, call someone else, we can't do this." He just kept "yes-ing" us until we missed the deadline for our next contractor to begin. We originally called Tree Masters when they were recommended by a friend. We had a dozen very large trees and a wooden shed we needed down. Andy originally wanted to take the shed and keep it as his own. He gave us a good deal on dozen trees for that exchange, $8500. Long story short, the shed was too tall to clear the power lines. It needed to come down. Andy said he could chain saw it and I offered to pay him to do so. After missed appointments and calls to work out details, we were pressing upon deadlines for the next phase of the project. I reached out to Andy one more time. I told him if he dropped the ball on us, the review would be appropriate. He quickly got back and again told us he would do it. Another missed appointment later, I called another company to help us. Andy reached out on the DEADLINE DAY and said he would do it that week, which would be too late for our timeline. In short, happy with the tree work, but pretty disappointed that promises, follow thru, communication on the rest were very poor. Should have just been upfront that the wooden shed was outside their expertise. read more

I had these guys out to remove a few trees from my property right before Thanksgiving in 2015 after getting a ton of no-call no-shows from a few other companies. The owner had come out and walked the yard and was very thorough and documented everything in the estimate and provided a decent price for the work to be performed. Now, partly being my fault, I should've done a better job myself to inspect the work after they had cleaned up and moved on, but due to having little time to do so before leaving for an out-of-town trip I had scheduled, I wasn't able to inspect the entire property (2 acres) until I got back. However, I am a very trusting person and expected the work to completed as outlined in the estimate. Having returned from my trip 2 weeks later, I had finally an opportunity to walk the yard and had noticed that the stump left over from a 75ft. Chestnut tree in the back part of the yard had never been ground and debris from that tree had been left and not taken care of. I had also raked up around where another tree was taken down next to my garage to find that the stump there was never fully ground either. I had called their office (Mid December) and explained to the office manager that the work done was unsatisfactory and would like to have someone come out and finish the grinding of both stumps and clean up the debris in the back that was left behind. I was told that someone would get back to me and schedule a time to have it done. Weeks passed an nothing. Then a couple months passed, still nothing. Then finally I had called and spoke to the owner again and explained my frustration on how the situation was handled and that no one ever got back to me and told me that he would come out personally the following day to inspect what was left and needing to be done. Never happened. Nada. Zilch. I will not be using these guys again because I didn't like being told one thing and then nothing to come of it. I guess this is what I get for being trusting of someone to do a job they were contracted for and paying before inspecting every aspect of the work completed. Lesson learned. read more

The entire team at Tree Masters is great. Andy manages two crews exceptionally well and we can count on great service from estimate to job completion. We have had them work on our property in the Tansboro section of Winslow Township on at least 5 separate occasions and each time the work has been accomplished exactly as proposed often with a few extras thrown in while the teams were on site. It is fortunate that we have a well forested property and can gradually cut back trees for each project. I understand that it's a busy time with storm cleanup but that's no excuse to waste our time. Trimming in preparation for solar panels last Spring, then taking out a very large tree (nearly 5 foot diameter), hauling it away, and grinding the stump this Fall. My advice, don't waste your time. They don't show up when scheduled, the owner is basically a bully, and their work is sub-par. Probably why they changed their name from AJR tree service cause their BBB rating was atrocious. Ask them about it. I see a nice rating. Probably left by the owner or his wife. I would not used this company again. My neighbor was getting work done so I asked the supervisor to give me a price. I showed him the trees I wanted down, he indicated he understood and when I got home they had cut down 2 trees I didn't want removed and left to 2 main ones I wanted removed. When I called the next day it was like oh well we can come back for $350 and not even try to work with me. PS if you pay them cash they don't charge you stare tax. read more

I had an appointment for Tuesday but was given no time window. I called at 9:00 and a man said he would call me back shortly. No call received until a nearly 1:00 voicemail from a girl stating they were running behind. I called the number left on the voicemail and spoke with the same man (never got his name) who told me that because I am 30 minutes away and the other job in my town cancelled that it's not profitable to do my job that day. I asked when the other job would be done and he said tomorrow (Wednesday), so I agreed to have them come out then. Wednesday rolls around; no call and no show. I call the same number at 3:30 and talk to the girl from the voicemail. She proceeds to tell me that "she does the scheduling" which made me realize that since I didn't talk to her that I was never on the schedule in the first place. I told her they obviously have communication issues over there and that I will be having someone else cut down the tree. There were never apologies, just reasons why I was a total inconvenience to them. Look, if you don't want my money because I'm SO far away, someone else will. Tree Masters should have been up front with me out the gate. They didn't want to travel the 30 minutes in the first place. FYI: Stanch's is coming at 10 am today to take the cash I originally withdrew for you. Update 11/3/16: Today, I received a handwritten apology in the mail from Andy. I appreciated the sentiment and have amended my review from 1 star to 3 to reflect the humble gesture. I hope Tree Masters can work out their communication issues in the future. read more
