They offer a variety of things from coffee, to lattes, to soup, to refreshing teas. I don't think we've ever had a disappointing visit here. We mostly love coming in the summer due to the fact that their seating area is right above the water and gives you an amazing view. Listen, a cup of soup and a latte while looking out at the water changes something in your soul. I will never not love going to rockport and getting something from Bean and Leaf. It is a highlight of every Rockport visit.

Their menu is centered around the almighty biscuit - biscuits/scones are one of my favorite ways to inhale carbs but they can run on the too bread-y side of the spectrum. These were fantastic: delicate crumb, beautiful golden color, and sturdy enough to hold in all the sandwich fillings. I went with the classic breakfast egg sandwich (scrambled egg, cheese, and arugula) and added sausage. This was one of those rare situations where the bread vehicle outshined the fillings. The egg, while nice and fluffy (and tasted like real egg instead of the diluted mix I've had elsewhere), could have used some more seasoning and was begging for a healthy dollop of ketchup or hot sauce. The only thing that came through strongly was the salt crystals on the top of the biscuit. Tried a bite of my husband's chicken salad on a cheddar/onion biscuit and had the same reaction - the biscuit overpowered everything else. Not that I'm complaining. The bakery is on a side street off the busier, more touristy Rogers Street. I had this idea too late but next time I'm in Gloucester, I'd take a biscuit sandwich to the beach area along Western Ave. The cafe itself is very, very cute, with little nooks and crannies everywhere for seating and even a comfy looking couch.
