We came here for lunch after my sailors graduation. Everything looked beautiful. The display case of seafood and desserts we ordered fried clams, shrimp and scallops with sauteed veggies, shrimp etouffe plate with roasted potatoes and greens, pulled pork, lobster roll, clam chowder and a pb cup. The portions were large and filling. My son said the shrimp was a bit salty for him. The rest of us enjoyed our food. The scallops were cooked beautifully and my sauteed veggies were also tasty. Food may have looked a bit better than it tasted for some. Pulled pork was "super good. Moist. Not too salty. It was really good." Pb cup was "good to fair." Was just plain pb on top and inside and chocolate was pretty hard. It was pretty basic. Looked better than it tasted. (The cheesecakes they had in the display case looked amazing.) The folks there were friendly and helpful and the location was clean and everything was well stocked.

The food is great! The Cajun Chicken Strips are AMAZING so much better than Canes. The Clam Strips were delicious!! Corn bread on point! Not a huge fan of their BBQ sauce but it was good and we ate the pulled pork and brisket we got! The service was great! It's an order at the counter, find a seat, and they'll bring it to you type of restaurant. Everyone we encountered was wonderful. The restaurant is so clean which I really appreciate. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because everything we ate was not a 5... 2 of the 4 things we ordered were.

I recommend their beef brisket and fried mushroom. Also their turtle cheesecake even the chocolate cake. It tastes good.

We're group of 7, We didnt know that It is like a "take out"place. Shanty's located at the back which made the store looked larger. It is a 1-4 person table only. We have to wait to be seated as we're group. I recommend their beef brisket and fried mushroom. Also their turtle cheesecake even the chocolate cake. It tastes good. Young staffs are accomodating while older female staffs are cranky. Hopefully they're more welcoming next time. Other than that, we enjoyed the foods which matters the most.

Stopped in for some seafood and dinner for the rest of the family. Called ahead of time and placed the order so we would be in and out. We ordered the 1/2 lb clam strips with garlic potatoes, greens and cornbread, 1/2 slab BBQ ribs with garlic potatoes, greens and cornbread and 1/2 lb beef brisket with cole slaw, garlic potatoes and cornbread with the sauce on the side. The food was ready for pick up when we got there. The food was good, and the portion sizes were good as well. Could have used more potatoes. We all enjoyed our meals. I only managed to get one photo and that was of the beef brisket.

On the way down to visit the Navy base in Great Lakes, decided to stop in for early lunch. I've never been to a setup that mixes BBQ and seafood like this before! Everything hit perfectly. The Cajun chicken was off the hook! Praises to the cook and staff! Prices vet reasonable and plentyof parking!

Food pretty good serve fast price is reasonable. But the table and seat are very sticky and greasy. Service are pretty ok.

ratatouille / briam and eggplant

I've been coming here for years when I am in the area- it never fails to be a happy making experience! Fish by the pound is always good. They change their fryer oil often enough so the flavor of the food is always clean and fresh. OMG, the sides- where to begin! The usual stand byes are consistently good, but the ones that are specials of the day are the ones to get! Okra, eggplant, ratatouille/ briam. I could make a meal out of those alone. BBQ: It's consistent. I'll be honest, Lems is hard to beat, but Capt's is a worthy alternate.

My mother has been coming to Captain Porky's for years and had the opportunity to join her. Scrumptious home cooking with many menu choices and daily specials. Emphasis on BBQ and Cajun, but have some wonderful alternatives. On this visit, we had lamb with Greek potatoes and milk thistle greens, along with oysters Rockefeller and cornbread; all of which was outstanding. Most impressive is the friendly owner Dino who is passionate, engaging and dispenses wisdom from his many experiences. Love the homey and welcoming atmosphere.

They now have more seating which is great. Not once have I had to wait for a place to sit. Since my last review I have learned I have some food sensitivities. It is great that they use olive oil for sautéing instead of butter. Always ask to double check if you have serious food allergies or sensitivities! Just today I was able to choose between sautéed vegetables and sautéed asparagus as my side. Might not sound like much, but so many places use butter or soy oil which I can't have anymore. I also can't have wheat or gluten so I'm getting used to my options being limited. If you can have dairy, I'd highly recommend asking for the fried cheese. It's not on the menu, and sometimes they run out, but worth trying at least once.

If someone knew you were going out to Hillary's there were multiple orders to pick-up. When I moved to Kenosha, we would ride down to Waukegan and pickup orders. The service was not the same, but the food was on point. I have had ribs, rib-tips and catfish. When Hillary's opened in Kenosha, I was really glad because I wouldn't have to go to Illinois. The food now was just "okay", nothing to brag about, so I would occasionally go back to Waukegan and Zion. For the past few 5 years or more, I eat sporadically from Hillary's, but am always on the lookout for some "delicious" ribs. The quality of the ribs has sunk so low, that the only good part is the sauce. Ever so often I would get a decent meal, but it so seldom, that I have chosen not to go, if there is anywhere else I can go to. Finally, my husband and I ordered a small rib tips order; one with hot sauce and the other, with mild sauce. We didn't expect much, and we were not dissapointed. The very first piece was amazingly chewy. And each piece afterwards was worse. I thought if I let it sit in the sauce for awhile, the pieces would soften up. That did not happen. My husband eventually tossed his order. I tried to eat mine, but it was like chewing on leather, merely an exercise for your jaws. I am done! And this saddens me because I was there when Hillary first started selling barbecue out of his garage. He's no longer with us, and the business bearing his name is a disgrace.

It would be one thing if you ordered at the counter and waited the customary 10 minutes like all the other Hillary locations I've eaten at. The first one was North Chicago IL, then Waukegan IL, then also Zion which has tried twice to stay open. You order and within ten minutes you can leave with your meal Not Kenosha where I've waited up to an hour! How do you expect me to only order at the counter then wait that amount of time Poor business model and bad customer service. I don't care how much I like the food you have made it impossible for me to enjoy it.

They must either mix their own mild sauce or have it made just for Hillery's because it wasn't some cheap, off the shelf crap just to marginally fit a function. Inside, it's nothing fancy. You pretty much place your order at the counter and wait around for your food. No tables or chairs to sit at, so basically it's just a takeout place. Looks like they do cater as they have different sized pans on display for you to see how much food it can fit for your party size. I was craving some bbq and some sides such as Mac n cheese and collard greens and was disappointed that they did not carry either or. Their main sides were fries, coleslaw, and fried okra from what I can remember. I decided to go with the rib tips dinner. I ordered the extra large portion as I was going to share with the hubby. Took about 15 minutes for my food to be ready, so not bad. It came with fries, coleslaw, and 2 pieces of bread for a total of $20. The rib tips were 'aight. The meat was a little tough to chew and not falling off the bone as I normally like. Also, they were cut in huge chunks and not really in bite sized pieces. The sauce was okay but it did not really blow me away and neither did the coleslaw. The fries were pretty bland as well and could have used some more salt or seasoning. It didn't even come with ketchup in my carry out bag. Overall it was meh. I still would like to try their wings some other time and see how that goes.
