I'm glad I did, because they were trying to tell me that it was between 12 and 2pm. I mentioned that this would not work because my new building has strict rules, and that they would have to be done by 5pm. The movers arrived the next day at 1pm. Upon arrival, they seemed professional and started to move my stuff out of my old apartment. Some of the movers did not speak English very well, so our communication was a little off, but things seemed to be working out. Even though the majority of my items were packed in boxes, one of the movers seemed to have a bit of an attitude if certain items were not packed properly (like my desktop and monitor). I have an IKEA entertainment center that they would not move because they would have to take it apart. I had to go back an get it at a later date. Its a good thing that I chose to move before the end of the month. After they finished getting the items that they would take, they followed me to my storage unit. They said that they would not be responsible for lamps, and made me put them in my car. They loaded up all of my furniture that I had in storage and proceeded to my new apartment. They put all of the items into my apartment and made the 5 pm deadline. If I had to do it all over again, I would have just used them to move all of my large items. I wish they would have explained thier lamp policy among other things when I made my reservation.

Negligent drivers and dissapointly dismissive ownersip - was involved in a collision with a PayDay…read moredriver in downtown Baltimore where the driver hit my passenger fender, tearing it, as he was aggresively switching lanes before an intersection to make the light (where he then blocked traffic in that intersection - photos attached). When I was able to pull up to his truck to talk with him, he immeditaely began yelling at me that I hit him....Sir.........if you are a a driver for a company i would HOPE that you have a basic understanding of the following: "Vehicles that do not enter a traffic lane safely are responsible for any incidents that occur as a result of their entry into the lane. In a similar manner, when a merging driver changing lanes cause a collision, the merging vehicle is almost always to blame." If my car is stationary in a lane, and you hit me changing langes, YOU are at fault. I digress..... When he would not reason, I called the owner of the company (who I previously very breifly called immediately following the incident) and left a voicemail to which he NEVER responded. Due to this, a police report must be filed to get my damages repaired. Just know.....if you are willing to hire this company, their workers are not only negligent, but will also scream roadside at young women, with NO care from owner/management.

I came across Envelop by McClain on Facebook marketplace while looking for a new dining room table…read more The table was reasonably priced and McClain was not only willing, but able to deliver because he owns his own small, family moving business. Having moved several times, I feel safe saying that the McClain brothers went above and beyond any standards I previously had for movers or accommodating businessmen in general. After agreeing on the table delivery, I realized I should take advantage of the box truck and began adding on various stops, pick ups and drop offs. McClain never flinched, simply negotiated a very reasonable service and delivery fee and it was all done with care, speed and quality. Envelop is insured, legit and a local, family business, with access to 17 & 26 feet vehicles. All we intended was for them to deliver a table, now they will moving us to our new home and I'm happy to know the last worry we'll have is the reliability of Envelop.

They got everything moved without a scratch on anything, and honestly, they're the fastest movers I've ever seen. James said he treats moving like Tetris, and he and Jesse did an excellent job getting lots of boxes and furniture safely onto dollies. I also appreciated how they triaged the types of furniture and loaded so many things onto multiple dollies in order to take it all down the elevator in as few trips as possible. From a pandemic perspective, they wore masks during the move, and I didn't feel any concerns. When I had to sign final paperwork at my old place, they headed to the new place and informed the concierge of our arrival to get the loading dock ready--now that's service! They just left about an hour ago, and I've already recommended Capitol Hill Haulers to a friend who is also moving soon. Big ups to CHH and to James & Jesse!

I was hoping a negative situation would turn out to be a positive based on how the situation was…read morehandled by the company when notified. This my experience. I had the company come out on 09/20/2025 what an experience not in a good way. As I was leaving, I was shocked to see my entertainment center at the entryway of the complex (broken in parts). It literally fell out of their truck. Of course, in a panic, I frantically park my car to move it the best I could out of the entrance to the complex before any cars tried to leave. I reached out to the team that left and was told they couldn't come back for 45 minutes. I immediately fired off emails stating what happened. My entire day was ruined because I had to stick around to see if the items were going to get picked and I felt the need to drive around to see what else dropped out the truck. No surprise as soon as I finished pulling the entertainment center to the curb and getting back in my car, I turned the corner out of the complex to find a large piece of a computer desk in the middle of the road near the major intersection. I went into another panic because cars were running over the board and I was afraid it might flip to hit someone's car. I again raced to park to see if I could run out into the middle of the road before cars came but the piece was run over several times that it landed in the worse location with the view being blocked by oncoming traffic from the opposite end. I couldn't get a grip on the board because cars were coming so I'm literally in the road trying to kick the board to the side of the road with my foot (yes it was painful). Luckily, one car saw my efforts and stopped. It was not a cool temperature day and I'm no spring chicken (which I'm surprised I didn't have any health issues from the adrenaline, embarrassment, frustration and desperation to move these items). Since I couldn't leave this heavy board on the side of the road, I'm literally trying to carry this wood board back to where the entertainment center fell out the truck (definitely not a short walk). It was exhausting and humiliating to run around and lift items that should've been hauled away given the amount paid for just a few items. I finally was able to speak with a representative who made an offer based on my troubles created by their team. I agreed to the offer from the representative and waited what is more than a reasonable time period (9/22/2025 to12/2/2025) without any luck. While there are things that can happen when the team is working from one job to the next, it is more important how the company handles the issue with the customer that can change how the overall experience is viewed. It makes the difference in showing that a small company stands by it's service and sets it aside from the bigger companies. Unfortunately, I was extremely reasonable even when the worker was going to lose a week of work for the incident. I was completely against this in today's economy and just asked that improved quality standards be in place so it doesn't happen again. I understand the workers are doing this all day so things are going to happen. Again, it's not about what happened during the service as the biggest issues, it's about how it is handled by the company. I do everything I can to support small businesses but I think the more I do the more problems I experience. As someone who wants to extend as much grace as possible, the constant waiting on the USPS at this point is beyond reasonable. Nevertheless, I wish the company the best and hope they take this as a lesson learned to improve how to resolve issues immediately. I didn't expect to be part of the crew that day with having to move my own heavy items out of the street when I paid for someone else to do it.
