The dipping bread came out with marinara. It was ok. The salads weren't that exciting either and the blue cheese dressing was truly not great. The potato soup was better but also not remarkable. The mains came quickly and followed suit. Most things weren't bad they just seemed like a knockoff Olive Garden - and that's not exactly great either. The exceptions were the lasagna and chicken parmesan. The lasagna just wasn't good at all and the chicken was overdone and dry. I found the pizza decent, but the rest of the family was less impressed. Our oldest said it reminded her of high school pizza and others reported it was bland. We didn't complain but someone was kind enough to provide a complimentary cheesecake with the sauces. One who sampled it didn't find it to be that wonderful either.

I don't think it would do so well in a tiger city but like many smaller towns they have to make compromises for a smaller audience, and more limited resources. I think they made a good effort and we would come back. The pizza dough was tasty, and sized right for me. The cheesy bread was not so great and too dried out. The salad was simple but adequate. We also ordered bruschetta which was too mild and kind of ordinary but maybe that's what the locals like. Usually there is more seasoning, olive oil in the mix and a more toasted baguette slices.

Monday 13th Went in for ice cream with my gf…read more We watched an employee with open sores on forearm handlinng food and ice cream, no gloves or covering The same employee, which later the manager confired, used dirty and soapy bleach water to clean off the cup and lid area. This employee is using the bucket of dirty bleach to wipe the top of the paper cup while the other employee, for the past 5 minutes prior to the cup incident is using this same bucket and rag to clean everything else. Counters, machines and etc We asked if that cup was for us because we are watching the same dirty, soapy and bleach covered rag being used to cleaned the inside rim area of the paper cup. The manager, insisted this the practice they use and are aloud to use daily. The manager had an attitude. The employee said they can make a new one. As the employee is throwing the ice cream out, the manager becomes rough with the employee, saying you didnt need to do that. After this, it progressively got worse. The manager made comments about how at this point, it was 30 minutes before close. That all we are doing is complaining. That he is going to call the police on us. Then proceeded to call the police, lies on the phone with the police. 1 employee says sorry then when the manager says something to her, she backs down. The manager claimed we were yelling, pouring ice cream on the floor (cameras in the store will prove otherwise), made a comment about other employees being uncomfortable. They definitely were visibly uncomfortable around him. No one was yelling from any side. Just really sad "customer service" from a "manager" because we didnt want to drink a milkshake with bleach. Trespass customers for wanting clean and safe ice cream. Even the police said they wouldn't have taken that milkshake that was made by them. Hopefully the owner sees this.

In fact, I remember coming here about 30 years ago with Mom and Dad Pickett, so coming back always brings back a few memories. The new owners have done a beautiful job giving The Corner a fresh new look while continuing the tradition of this longtime local favorite. The restaurant has a clean, welcoming style, and the new menu offers a great variety of choices. I'll admit, I do miss the old BBQ place and some of those familiar favorites, but I was pleasantly surprised by the new menu. There really is something for everyone, and they've done a nice job keeping some of the family favorites while adding new options. Our food came out hot and was really good! And the burgers are real hamburger--not frozen patties, which definitely makes a difference. It was really nice to see a place that has been part of this community for so many years getting a fresh new beginning while still honoring where it came from. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend stopping at The Corner Restaurant and giving the new owners a try.
