I was charged for a "2 can dine for 9.99" meal that I did not receive. Today is Christmas Eve and there was so way I could make it back to get my missing food by closing. The manager was very rude and told me "there's nothing that we will do" I have my receipt and offered to pick it up the day after Christmas since they are closed tomorrow. This use to be a great place to eat. Last couple years it has been horrible. Staff is very rude and make up the hours day by day. Will serve the car in front of you and then make you wait 5-10mins and decide to close early. The management of this locations needs to be reevaluated. read more

Service--well the dining room order taker came out mumbling under her breath I can only assume because they yelled for her to come out front as she was in the back. Hey i get having to work on a Saturday night, however the attitude deterred me from placing a to go order as to not disturb her a second time. To be honest the food was fair really should change the grease/ oil you cook the fish in tasted old which also deterred me from placing a to go order. No tea in the dining room we settled for soda again not wanting to disturb the worker to ask her to do her job. Ambiance--clean the booths the seats are nasty and the backs look like no one has wiped them off in a while. We try to stay local but this place just can't pass for even a decent place to eat. We will drive the extra miles to go somewhere that one has friendly service and two changes the grease/oil more than once every few months. Good luck staying open. read more

Food is always what you expect, delicious fish and tasty sides. Staff was courteous. I ordered online and while awaiting it in the parking lot, an employee came out saying their system had crashed and my order was lost. She took my order by hand and a few minutes later filled it and brought it out. I felt this was above and beyond on her behalf. My only complaint is it's very inconvenient to keep the dining room closed. This is unacceptable when you can drive 5 minutes down the road for the best catfish in town. read more

I have recently went to this captain d's location and I got extremely sick afterwards. I went during a rush and expected the food to be warm, it wasn't, and when I bit into a peice of fish it wasn't fully done. I now have been throwing up for the past 2 days. I will NEVER eat here again! read more

Be very wary of the prices because what the order board says and what they charge are way off. I understand prices going up but there was nothing saying that. I asked when I got to the window and was told prices went up. Fish sandwich combo is now $8.98 not $7.49 as the board says. And I got like 6 French fries . Fish was good, basically the same it tastes at all Captain D's. The side items were terrible. Cold fries that had been setting under the warmer for at least an hour, soggy and cold okra and hush puppies were just ok. Oh why, oh why can't we just do a good job at whatever you're doing! Wow! This place gets horrible reviews so I thought I'd add my thoughts. I have eaten here occasionally for a number of years. Sis and I were busily preparing the summer place for Other Sis' yearly sojourn and decided to come to the Captain's rather than our usual Burger King lunch run. Upon entering, we were met with the usual too-cold atmosphere; why do so many restaurants keep the temperature so frigid? Who knows, but this place always does. The specials were listed up front, but at the counter you don't see them so if your memory is bad (like mine) you have a problem. I got the fish sandwich special with fries and Sis got the lobster rolls; we both had iced tea. You can look at my reviews and see that I eat at plenty of fine restaurants, but I do have highly adaptable taste buds, so I like fast food, too. My sandwich and fries were pretty good, though the fish was a bit on the greasy side. The iced tea was OK, but the sweet tea was too sweet - a common problem these days as each fast food place ups the sugar level as their contribution to the obesity situation. The place looked clean though not spotless. Tables were cleared off, but whether that speaks to the employees, the dearth of customers, or the tidiness of previous diners, I don't know. The sole employee at the counter handled inside and drive-up orders. She was pleasant and patient with her aging customers, of which the place has a lot. I did not check the restrooms. In short, the Captain offers a fish meal for a cheap price. For what it is, it's OK in my opinion. Who was Captain D? Actually, the restaurants were named for Ray Danner, a Nashville entrepreneur of fifty years ago. It was an offshoot of his Shoney's empire and was originally called Mr. D's, as I remember. I don't think the two chains have any connection today. His obsession for cleanliness and good customer service were legendary. That DNA has weakened through the years. read more

I love Captain D's, However the WORST RESTAURANT EVER, IS THE CAPTAIN D's in Dickson TN. I will never go back there again. You definitely have the WORST Ever manager and assistant manager, at this one. I have a Voice Recording of me calling to complain, on our 30 mile trip (there and back) for a Mother's Day Supper, for my wife. The assistant told me she was in charge and she actually really didn't care, she laid the phone down and hung up on me. I called back and no answer for 3 times that it rang. 4th time someone answered but didn't say anything until I said that I was going to call the main office. Than she got on the phone says stuff but it does end like this. She says "Sir Have You Lost Your Mind? We are in the middle of a crisis, in the middle of a pandemic, and your really dogging us like that. We apologise because we got your meal wrong, and you are fussing and really dogging us like that. So everybody in here is not acceptable, as far as I am concerned we don't really need your here at this restaurant" so in Dickson TN this is the very first one to not give me what we ordered. I have never had issues with anyone on getting an order that we placed in Dickson TN, except for two times here. So if you love someone don't send them there, but if you hate and can't stand someone, That Would Be The best Place To Send Them. read more

Have y'all ever seen such a look of defeat after a beloved friend of mine saw a commercial and it immediately filled him with pure hunger and a desire to fill his belly. As I watched him prepare to take his order I saw a look in his eyes only comparable to a kid in a candy shop. After a 30 minute wait, just after 8, his dreams were shattered. They told us they could not take our order. Only it was so impersonal they had a robot deliver the news that broke his heart. I have never seen such sadness and betrayal in a man's eyes. If he was standing in that moment he probably would've fallen to his knees. Unacceptable. If you are short staffed, at least get one of your workers to come outside and tell us you won't serve us, rather than wait until we've wasted our time in line getting our hopes up. There was multiple cars behind us who shared the same fate as us. We then went to Krystal's, where all was well. Peace was restored. SHAME ON YOU Captain D's. One star is too much for you. read more

I asked my wife if I bought the Crab Cakes that are on special, would she eat them. I'm allergic so I pass. I wheeled into the drive through and order 2 cakes and brought them home. On the way home the smell was like wet cardboard but I don't know how they are suppose to smell. When I got home and she took a bite, she made an awful face and promptly threw them out the back door for our pet possum. She said they were awful and they looked awful. read more

This is one of my absolute favorite places to eat. The food is always fresh. The crew is always helpful, kind, and professional. Also, the dining area is spottless. The employees even manage to keep the drink and condiment station clean, unlike at every other restaurant in Dickson. I have been a frequent customer and I definetly plan on keeping it that way. read more

When I go to Captain D's I always get the chicken dinner and it is always really good. Today the fries were fresh, the food was hot, I love the hush puppies, I had zero complaints today. I did not dine it, just drive thru and I received really fast service and the young man at the window was very polite and friendly. I do think the chicken dinner is slightly over priced, it would be fine if it included a drink in with the price. read more
