We literally raced out of a wedding reception to make it here before closing! We arrived maybe 30 minutes prior to closing but the greeting we received was as if they just opened. Hush puppies come to the table right after you order. Leave your carb counter at the door here. The hush puppies and butter are delicious! Tonight's special included a one or two-piece flounder dinner. Hubby ordered the two piece and I ordered the one piece so we could share. It came to the table quickly and was piping hot. The fish was fried to perfection as always. The meal came with a choice of two sides. I chose coleslaw and fries. Again, great choices. I love their slaw! You cannot go wrong with Captain Bob's!

Let me say first that this place does have a lot of potential. My wife and I both got the BBQ plate mine came with okra and a baked potato. Overall the service was average. I was never asked what I wanted on my baked potato and the menu didn't say anything about what came on it. The atmosphere isn't terrible when you walk in although upon being seated I had a problem with the floor and the windowsills being so dirty. There were at least two dead flys on the windowsill behind where we were sitting and there were two more living flys on then window directly next to us. When the food came everything was hot and the waitress did ask how everything was. The pork BBQ has good flavor although it was dry. This could have been fixed by the sauces at our table but when I reached for those they were both very dirty and I was not getting ready to pour the vinegar on my food with it looking like it had sat there for the last 10 weeks. The hush puppies were pretty good and not greasy by any means. Before I ordered the okra I asked if it was fresh to which my waitress replied "yes". The okra was definitely not fresh as it was very soggy (but not greasy). Also I would have actually preferred the okra to have just been baked because it didn't have any seasoning at all, therefore there was really no point in frying it. My baked potato was very fresh tasting. In fact it would have been great if it had come with cheese, bacon, butter or even some chives (nothing fancy). The potato came with a packet of sour cream, and a packet of fake butter. I was very disappointed that they were cutting corners in this area. The sour cream had cornstarch in it (artificially made stable) and the fake butter had absolutely no dairy in it at all. If your going to cheat people this way why not plate the fake butter or put it into a ramekin on the side? Butter and sour cream are not too expensive any restaurant. In all it was $23 and I couldn't believe I had just paid $20 bucks to be served a baked potato with no butter and some dry pork. If they had just given me real butter and cleaned their restaurant this place could easily be a 3-4 star. Even as I write this I am debating whether or not a 2 star is too giving.

    "Cornbread"

Been here several times and it's been hit and miss. Tonight however, it was a big miss. Went here for my dad's birthday for the seafood buffet. It was $20 a person for fried shrimp, fish, broiled shrimp, a few cold salads, North Carolina BBQ, and hush puppies. Now Bob's has amazing bbq so for me it is a good deal, however my mother in law ordered from the menu. Not only did they get the order completely wrong (ordered grilled but served blackened), the baked potato was raw (quite literally), and the "cornbread"...I attached a picture so you could see for yourself. I have never seen anything like this and it definitely wasnt cornbread. It was inedible and the waitresses attitude was as unappetizing as the corn thing. We ended up having to go to the servers station ourself to get refills, and in response to the bad meal "that's just how they cook it"... yeah... Bob you really screwed up tonight and if wasnt for the bbq I sure wouldn't be back.

I really enjoyed each of the dish and all the beers that are on a tap is the highlight of the restaurant. There are two long tables in the middle for larger groups. The seats are surrounded by TVs and a great spot for the family. The second shift breakfast burger is delicious! The Pork belly BLT is also more refined and will please finer palates. The crispy apple jack chicken has all the ingredients for a delicious sandwich. But I would replace the 3 chicken tenders for a large chunk of chicken breast. That would make the sandwich perfect. On Saturday morning my wife and I decided to try out the newest restaurant in town, skipping lunch and jumping onto the waitlist just added to the excitement. Although Texas Roadhouse has been open for about a month now, they still seem to be packed nightly! We had no trouble finding a spot to park and got in line with everyone else. The outside of the building adds to the excitement and experience, playing classic country and honky tonk. Its style is spot on and adds to the legendary character. After the obligatory amount of time passed my wife and I were shown to our seats, our table was a little dirty and the floor was covered in trash. The appetizer plates were dirty and there was no silverware, but all things considered it was no big deal. After Al a busy restaurant is a good restaurant for the customers and the employees. We ordered our drinks and a blooming onion, the drinks arrived rather quickly along with the replacement plates. We went ahead and ordered our dinner, I ordered a 16oz sirloin rare Pittsburgh style, baked potato and some broccoli, along with a side of horseradish and a side of sour cream. My wife ordered a 8oz sirloin medium rare, baked potato and mixed vegetables. Our waitress took our orders and that was the last time we saw her for the next hour or so. Our blooming onion came and looked delicious! We were both playing a little trivia game and began to dig in. The crunchy parts were good, but sadly the onion. Was both over cooked and undercooked. We ate what we could and did enjoy the sauce, It's a spicy sauce that pairs well with the onion. Unfortunately for me I didn't foresee the lack of refills in my future. Our steaks came out within 15 minutes of our arrival so great speed, The steak was cooked to the right level and was crisp and blackened on the outside. The flavor of the steak was pretty good also, I did lack my sour cream and horseradish sauce. I made due, eating my baked potato and waiting for the waitress to return so I could get something to drink! Alas! My hope was in vain! My steak was good, it was suitably tender and the flavor was good. My wife's steak on the other hand was, how can I put this? More of the consistency of pâté that had been grilled somehow, it was a disappointment and to be honest I've never eaten a steak that had that consistency and texture. She subsided on her potato and vegetables, filling her belly with the sides and a legendary disappointment. We waited about 30 minutes after our food arrived to begin looking for our server, we had seen the excitement of two Texas style birthdays and one round of dancing! What we had not seen was our waitress, not wanting to be rude and just walk up to the waitress stand, I waited for a manager to pass and I stopped her to let her know our concerns, I had to inform her that I was thirsty and had not seen our waitress in about half an hour, but more of an issue than my desiccated mouth was the repulsive texture of my wife's steak, it had the consistency on boiled chicken liver, mealy and squishy texture that was completely unpalatable. After telling her she looked at me blankly and I had to hint to her about payment, I asked wether I should just pay here or should I wait for a check, she stared at me intelligently. I had to inform her that would not be paying for the steak that was brought out for my wife. Now, I understand that a busy restaurant can be a stressful job, and management is doubly difficult. But there has to be a point in which you slow down and make sure your customers are happy, or at least alive. Instead of having the meal gratis as I would expect I was told that the steak would be removed from my check. Not the sides. I know it's a trivial thing but when you as the manager take matters into your hands you could a least not charge for the "legendary"mixed vegetables. Raw broccoli and some slightly steamed carrots don't break the bank but I digress. She came back to show me how she removed the 8oz sirloin from my check , with some apologies and asked us to try the place again. We were gracious and thankful. She left us to pay on the kiosk at the table. As I began to pay I came to the tip screen, and instead of allowing me to discuss tip with my wife in private the manager returns with the waitress, like a hound who wanted to make up for piddling on the floor. Feeling extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed I just tipped 20% and called it a night. As I sit here writing this review my mouth is still dry, although I had the manger at the table I was still not offered another drink, so I recommend this restaurant to all those who are of the toothless nature and those who perhaps bring with them a canteen of water. Please I invite you to have a legendary time.
