First time at the Anderson location. Needed a quick superhero costume to get 2 strokes off at a golf event that evening, so I stopped in and wasn't disappointed. Got an easy mask and cape combo, but when telling the Cappel's employee, Stephie, about what the last-minute costume was for, she showed me the "Cheetah Woods" visor hat they had in stock. The goofy costume made a lot of my fellow golfers laugh pretty hard. Thank you, Stephie, for saving the day!!! read more

Today I had the rudest employee experience I have ever encountered at any business in my entire life. The Manager watched the way he spoke to me and didn't say a thing until I was walking out the door. She apologized for his behavior and tried to explain that he was having a bad day and took it out on me. OKAY. We won't be back. read more

Cappel's has so many options for your party, I highly recommend adding it to your rotation of party stores. Think Party City with less balloons and more costumes. This location has a lot to offer. I really like all of the small trinkets they have for .10-.20 each. Often making items $2.20 per dozen. This is especially nice for school aged moms that need to fill treat bags! They have a section for everything... holidays, weddings, birthdays, costumes, small favors, bead necklaces, leis, banners, balloons. Pretty much a one stop shop with decent prices. The only thing I reeeeeeaaaally don't like about this location is that it's so cramped with stuff, they can't even provide carts to push through the aisles. Try carrying a baby and a toddler in a store with no cart and sensory overload. Sadly, this is the reason I mostly avoid this store until I have a moment with no kiddos. Keep this in mind! read more

Terrible customer service, the so called manager wasn't helpful whatsoever and gave us false information about the exchange policy. Both Nick and Kathy stated that we could exchange the outfit (s) and that it came in two costumes when it really came in one. The building was absolutely disgusting and there was trash and miscellaneous items all over the floor. Myself as a minor felt very discriminated against when the manager went to help the Caucasians people when we arrived first. Then ​ Nick proceeded to be on the phone while we were waiting patiently. We are already half way through the year, there is no way people should be getting discriminated against based of their colors and that goes for all races and what ever beliefs they have. This is truly unacceptable, my sister and I won't be able to participate in spirit week for school because of their terrible customer ​. read more

Not only is this store quite dirty, the staff is very unorganized. The person who helped me with my balloon order forgot to circle paid on the order form the day I placed the order. The employees then accused me of not paying when I came to get the balloons a week later. Funny enough, they were able to go back and find my receipt to confirm I did in fact pay at the time of ordering. They ended up popping two of my balloons and only separating the balloons into two bouquets instead of the three I ordered. read more

This place isn't terrible...they've got a decently big selection of costumes, craft materials, & decorating gear....most of the costumes are of the typical campy cliche kind Halloween brings about, but of course Cappel's is open year-round. My only complaint about this place is that actually getting an associate to help was tough. The woman who was running the register seemed more focused on talking about her kids to a few people (I got the impression that she was friends with them) who had "dropped in to say 'hi' "....she couldn't be bothered to acknowledge myself or Nathan, pause her conversation to ring us up, or even to find another associate that could help us. This is the best costume place in this area that I've found. The selection is huge. They have costumes, every accessory, party supplies, wedding and birthday party decorations. It's a little worrisome that I walked into a completely empty store on a Saturday. I don't know how long that location has been there but it makes you wonder if it will be there long with business like that. There were 3 associates there and no one offered any assistance. BEWARE!!!!! I got my daughter at costume the cost $71 and she got LICE from the head piece! My husband and I mentioned to the store people that the bag was open and the head piece seemed used (it smelled a little) and they said no that people had tried it on. We did a home treatment and didn't work. I had to hire a company to come in and treat the whole family which cost $400! Stay away from this company! It's now Monday 11/12 and Kathy and the owner refuse to return the costume. Spoke with an attorney and per a no return policy The is an unwritten warranty that the item is new and should be guaranteed not to cause a health risk. read more

Tried to return 2 packages of "2013" graduation napkins that were identifiably their stock. My husband purchased these less than 1 week ago. I had the credit card receipt but not their "teeny tiny" itemized receipt. { think (?) the receipt does not have item descriptions, anyway.} Again, these napkins were on their shelves as I was visiting the store. They would not accept return of the items without the "teeny tiny" receipt even though I had the credit card receipt. They would not even issue store credit. I will never patronize any of their stores again!! (I remember having issues once before at this store.) 'Plain and simple....this establishment is NOT about customer service. read more

Unfortunate that they have such a horrid manager at this location. Store has some interesting things but the rediculous policies render shopping there a risky venture. Stopped in on July 3 to.get some 4th of July gear for my child for the 4th. I bought a flashing stars necklace so that.I.could see him in the dark at Coney. When I got home and showed him.the necklace, it did not work. I brought the necklace back on July 5 with the receipt. The clerk was very nervous and said she had to call the manager. She proceeded to have a 5 minute discussion on the phone with the manager, who was in the back. It was obvious that she was getting interrogated as to the details of the return. Manager was trying to get out of it from.the get go. The clerk ultimately told me that the manager would allow me to get another star necklace in exchange. I clearly no longer needed a star necklace as the 4th of July was over and wanted my money back or a credit would have been fine as well. The clerk encouraged me to speak to the manager but did not seem to want to deal with her herself. I met with the manager. I.told her they sold me defective merchandise and that I no longer had a need for the necklace. She nastily told me that she didnt have to give me anything but that she was willing to give me another necklace (like she was doing me a favor). I told her, actually, you HAVE to give me another necklace because you cant sell customers defective merchandise. She argued with me that she had no obligation. If this was not the owner, I urge the owner to take a look.at who you have representing your business and interacting with customers. What kind of place are you running? A garage sale? A third world flea market? Guess what. You cannot take money in exchange for nothing, as your manager indicated you have every right to do. A no return policy is fine but when you sell defective products, it is YOUR problem to send them.back to the manufacturer. You give your customers their money back. I will never be back to this store. I went to just exchange some things I bought for my daughters baby shower they had to call manager up she said sure which was going to be more than the napkins I was returning. Then asked for my receipt I did not have one because the lady who waited on me the first time we were talking she never put in my bag or handed to me did not think about because I assumed it was in the bag. I got home checked bag was not in there. Then I told her the lady that waited on me who was standing right there. Manager very unprofessional says oh we never put receipts in bag but the lady who waited on me at same time say I always put receipt in bag. The manager was rude unprofessional. Just crooked. I've always liked Cappel's but this location has the worst service in a retail store I've seen in a long time. I went in to buy 1 thing. There were 2 clerks, one man and one woman, working. The woman was in a personal discussion with a customer that lasted the entire time I was in the store. They were talking when I went in and were still talking when I left. The man only wanted to check people out and not help anyone look for anything. They both knew I needed help and saw me waiting but neither could have cared less. When he finally did decide to help me, after a discussion with a customer about a football game, he took about 8 steps from the register when someone walked up to check out. Of course the other clerk was still gossiping with the same woman so he turned to go check them out telling me to wait and he would get to me. I left and went somewhere else to make my purchase. Cappel's has a decent selection but their service is so I suggest you not shop there unless you can find what you want by yourself and you have all day to stand around until the clerks are finished with personal conversations. Thank goodness there are other stores that carry the same things and like to sell, not just chitchat. read more
