Went here today to see what this place had. The staff was very helpful and outgoing. I just got a paint by number. My husband got a RC car. It was easy to find what you are looking for. They had a huge selection from puzzles, games, arts and crafts. The prices were reasonable. read more

We stopped in here this weekend for some small parts for a race track. It's a pretty small store and some areas seemed a bit dusty or understocked but I guess that's to be expected in a video game obsessed society. There's some games, Legos, crafts and party toys near the front. Some train parts towards one side and race track and remote car items in the back. We found the part we needed and a few things my grandson picked out while walking around. read more

I've been going to Hobbytown for awhile for figma's, gundams, & paints. I fell off during covid and just went to the new location today for the first time. Several boxes were damage & very questionable but yet they had them listed for collector prices, way higher then I see from Amazon, EBay, & even Big Bad Toys. So I figure I would ask them about one I wanted which was very badly damage if they go down on the price. Approached the counter & both the staff members look at me like I didn't belong there & interrupted rudely. Show them the box and asked if they would go down on the price which was three times higher then listed online by multiple parties. They both looked at me as if I had ask them to sell their first born too me. Saying it came like that and they can't go down on the price. Was planning to drop like $800 and walked out not spending anything cause of how they treated me & how damaged multiple products were. Hope they fix these issues or I am just going to support online shops instead of a local business. read more

There are some negative reviews about this store so I thought I'd give my feedback on those. Rude employees - Never had an issue with that. I have seen busy employees whom I have to wait for to finish with their current customer. Tony is usually found in the back helping customers. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. You can go to him with issues about your trains and rc related items. Lazy employees - I have no idea what that girl who sits up front playing with her phone does, because I have never seen her work. The guy who pointed out which isle something is in may not have been allowed to leave the register unattended. Lines. Sometimes there are lines at the register. But... they aren't unusually slow about ringing things out. There is only one cash register. If there is a line, I usually enjoy chatting with my line-mates about whatever it is they are purchasing. read more

I've been going to Hobby Town for over 15 years. Used to be great staff, excited about what they do. Now I go in and the senior staff treats me like garbage for asking one question. I'm a graduate student who works with drones and my fellow students and I would love a local place to buy parts. The attitude has gotten ridiculous. You guys (Hobby Town) need to change things. I came in today wanting to spend a couple hundred, but ended up with $4 in screws and a ruined day. This needs to be fixed, I don't want to give all my business to Amazon. I was buying my scale modeling supplies online before my friend told me about this store. When I went in I found their prices were almost always priced lower than buying online and less than half the cost in some cases! Their inventory is usually excellent though they are having trouble restocking certain items (like every other store). I've been back a few times since discovering them and the staff has always been helpful when I've had questions. This latest trip I talked with Lee who showed us pictures of one of his plane models, which we very much enjoyed. I would recommend checking them out if you're in need of hobby products! read more

Noticed there was a "Radio Shack Express" advertised here so I decided to check it out. This store has some cool items. We received very poor customer service. We found an employee seated behind the cash register and asked for assistance finding an item. He pointed us to an aisle and said that it should be there. I explained that we looked in that aisle and couldn't find it. He couldn't be bothered to get up from his chair or call another employee to help us find it so we left. We found the item at Hobby Lobby and had great service there. I don't think we'll be back to this store. read more

This is my local game store so I wish I had nicer things to say. They seem to be great for RC cars and train enthusiasts. But if you want to play board games, D&D, or Warhammer 40k the selection and pricing is abysmal. The staff has gotten more rude and dismissive over the past year; the girl at the front sits on her phone and ignores customers. The owner hides in the back with the RC cars. Wish there was something better within 40 minutes of me. read more

Just purchased $200 of model railroad track, which neatly filled the cardboard box it was packed in. They wouldn't let us keep the box. No. Seriously. We had to give the cardboard box back because the manager likes to keep them. We offered to buy the box. Begged, even. Nope. They tossed all this delicate model-y stuff in a plastic bag. The line was long. The cashier was slow. I passed the time reading the return policy: 14 days, no debit card refunds, no RC vehicle refunds of any kind. This place screams customer service. Been coming here for stuff since I was maybe 7 or 8 years old, back when they were still across the street by Barnes & Noble. Most of my purchases were things like glue, paint, MtG, & Warhammer 40k related so I can't speak to a lot of the model stuff, but I've always been able to find everything I needed and everyone who's helped me out there has been both super helpful and very knowledgeable about everything they carry. I'll gladly skip bigger stores that carry some of the same things (super glue, etc.) to come here because of the service. read more

This is my favorite store to visit and be ignored by the staff. I've made a game of it. After entering the store and walking past the employees in a conversation with each other who do not greet me (ever), I spend 30 minutes or so looking at things right in front of them. I have never been asked if I need help - they treat me as if I am not there. If you know what you need and have no questions, they often have it. Don't expect customer service. read more

My husband and I have purchased many RC items at this store and have always been well-served with knowledgeable, helpful staff. The RC tech guy in the back (Rich) has helped us with finding the parts we needed and providing great repair advise. They have a plentiful supply of RC parts. My son saved enough money to buy an RC car. Spent $120 to bring the car home to find it had missing parts and it didn't work after driving for 5-10 minutes indoors. Brought it back to the store with a receipt and they refused to exchange it. They pointed us at the manufacturer - ugh. Called the Dayton Mall hobby store and their return policy is much friendlier. Supporting this local business completely backfired. I will not support this business going forward anymore and my 11 year old son now has a story to tell his friends. read more

I like Hobbytown stores. I've visited several across the country and have elsewhere always had good experiences. This store seemed a little more geared toward things with motors than the others (more trains, rc cars, etc but fewer models, books, etc). What really makes this one different is the customer service....which it lacks. I've been here twice. The first time I was not terribly impressed, but the second is why I will not be returning: I come to the counter with my planned purchase in hand. As the clerk comes to the counter, he's talking socially with someone else in the store. Taking his seat at the register, he proceeds to spend more than five minutes talking to this other person about plans for the weekend, another hobby, etc. Apparently his hands are very closely tied to his mouth, because he couldn't even be troubled to ring me up until the other person (who wasn't even buying anything) finally left. I like a personal touch as much as the next person, but placing your social life ahead of customer service....while at work...is not a good way to make those customers happy. read more

my first time there the man behind the back counter was very ,very helpful sold me a battery charger and I am super pleased.

will not return electronic items. once you purchase it you're stuck with it if doesn't meet your needs or works for your application. will replace faulty stuff but not return for money back. some of their prices are higher than most other retailers. especially tools and glue. staff is knowledgeable about RC products though. but management needs a policy change in order to get my business again. never shopping there again. buyers beware! read more
