My husband loves craft stores and we are both fans of going to our favorite national stores when we travel to see what is different from our local store. This Michaels felt significantly bigger than the one we have at home and they have self checkout which isn't an option at the Benton Harbor location. I ended up buying stickers and 2 molds originally meant for baking, but I use them for resin projects. Having been home for a bit, both the molds work well for what I needed them for and the stickers work as expected as well. Bathrooms were clean, employees were nice, and store is well organized. Things are well prices as well as most items being on sale and having coupons through the phone app. read more

I had a new debit card and it didn't have a pin assigned to it that I knew. New system will not allow credit option and I didn't have another card on me to use so I had to abandon the order and leave because of new Michaels systems. Contacts customer service and no one know how to work it unless you have a pin. It's not the employees fault but this is not how you run a business. I hate it but I'll be going to a competitor from now on because this is just annoying business practice. read more

While visiting Kentucky for my Father in law's funeral, I spent SO much time at this Michaels. They kept me sane. Their associates were friendly when we needed their help. Their bathroom was clean and neat, and their store was well stocked. I was happy to find some great buys - such as easels for $6.99, previously $40. We needed them for the Pictures we were making for the Rememberance photos, and they surely helped. read more

Quarantine shout-outs to the Newport Michael's for helping get down with my quarantine crafting without having to break social distancing. I placed my order online for pickup, called when I arrived at the store, showed my ID, BOOM! Time to get my craft on. Make sure that if you want to get your order the same day to order as soon as possible (before 3 p.m.). I ordered after so I wasn't able to get mine the same day, no big deal. The staff were super friendly and got all my supplies perfectly. The woman who brought out my order was wearing a mask and offered to put my order in my trunk. The whole process was seamless. I'll definitely make sure to use this feature while social distancing and will be back to get my craft on some more once it's safe to open the doors again! read more

I live about a mile from this location and if possible I avoid. Tonight I was in a hurry and had to swing by target so ran into Michaels for a few craft store items I needed. When I first walked in I took a sigh of relief as the store seemed pretty empty and usually there is a line that requires lanes. Quickly retrieved what I needed and got in line... only a couple people in front of me and two people working up front.... oops, no just one, the other one was just walking around. I am not kidding you that I waited over ten minutes with two people in front of me... the ONLY reason I didn't run across the street to the new craft store is I didn't have time.... in the future I will try out the new store first.. we make a weekly run to fresh thyme anyway.. Yay! Brand Spanking new Michaels! Although, it does feel awkward and weird that I am cheating on the old banged up Michaels in Hyde Park. But to tell you the truth, this one is going to take some getting used to since it is gargantuan! Still has all the same great seasonal items, art materials, frames, crafts, etc. but the aisles seem teeny tiny and smashed together. Thank god they have the cutest little mini carts ever to get through them. Nothing really new to report, just got in and out with what I needed. Also COUPS! If you don't know about the printed coups at the end of the receipts you are loosing 40% off basically every time you shop. Let me start off by saying I had some items that were hella old and wAAY past their 180 day return policy. But we didn't need them anymore and they were unopened so I called the store wondering if there was anything they could do because I didn't just want to throw them away. A manager was very helpful and told me that as long as I had the receipt (which I did) they could put it back on my card. I went in the next day and the cashier said that I needed to talk to a manager. This lady named Nicole came and from the second she saw my receipt she started demeaning me and treating me like crap. I told her that I knew it was beyond the return policy but the only reason I was there was that the manager yesterday had approved the return and told me to come on in. She kept on saying "this is ridiculous" and then she looked at me and said "so, you're just sitting at home chilling for a year" without using these items. I'm used to being treated this way by my daughters when they're PMSing but I don't really like to be treated this way by random store employees I don't know. It went on and on. I told her I don't like to be demeaned and she said "I don't need to take a return like this." When I reminded her about what the manager said she said "that doesn't exist and they didn't leave a note for me." In the end, they gave me store credit. I gave it to a friend because I won't be going back. Life's too short to be treated this way. ps. If you want you can see the picture of the person that treated me this way under pictures. This store is little smaller than other locations and stock is not always as plentiful in certain items. However, this is my go to store for photo frames, not professional framing, just for frames that you would buy for smaller prints. I've also had luck finding seasonal decor here whether it's for Halloween or Christmas. The lines can be long during the holidays, so bring your patience. read more

Terrible experience in the framing department. Dropped two pieces off to be framed, and was given a two day pick up window. This was then pushed back 3 separate times. I was even sent an email at 4 in the morning letting me know my work was finished. I drove the store, and they were not finished. I was told by almost every employee it was someone else's fault. The price has also risen 2 fold. Something to do with matting? First and last time working with there framing department, or the store in general. read more

This place is huge! I usually find myself at the Colerain or Hyde Park location. They have everything you need craft wise from photo frames and construction paper to face paint and clay. You can still find awesome seasonal items here. Go check out their Halloween crafts and decor currently right in front of the store for your convenience. The place was clean and easy to navigate.
