I live about a mile from this location and if possible I avoid. Tonight I was in a hurry and had to swing by target so ran into Michaels for a few craft store items I needed. When I first walked in I took a sigh of relief as the store seemed pretty empty and usually there is a line that requires lanes. Quickly retrieved what I needed and got in line... only a couple people in front of me and two people working up front.... oops, no just one, the other one was just walking around. I am not kidding you that I waited over ten minutes with two people in front of me... the ONLY reason I didn't run across the street to the new craft store is I didn't have time.... in the future I will try out the new store first.. we make a weekly run to fresh thyme anyway.. Go elsewhere

Yay! Brand Spanking new Michaels! Although, it does feel awkward and weird that I am cheating on the old banged up Michaels in Hyde Park. But to tell you the truth, this one is going to take some getting used to since it is gargantuan! Still has all the same great seasonal items, art materials, frames, crafts, etc. but the aisles seem teeny tiny and smashed together. Thank god they have the cutest little mini carts ever to get through them. Nothing really new to report, just got in and out with what I needed. Also COUPS! If you don't know about the printed coups at the end of the receipts you are loosing 40% off basically every time you shop. Pay attention, and you could score something for a huge discount!

This "manager" was demeaning and insulting because I wanted to approve some items that were approved by another manager.

My first visit to Knit On! was a success! They have such a huge selection here, a whole room of…read moreyour natural fibers (like wool or cotton) and another room of acrylic and baby yarns. I was amazed at the selection given I am a beginner and have only shopped at Michael's Crafts for yarn. It's clear the yarns are high quality but they have some at every price point which is great. This place is so much better than the big box store where I've had a hard time finding a selection of wool yarn and things like safety eyes. Knit On! had everything I'd ever need for a project and a lot for inspiration too. There were some baby lovey kits and kits for scarves and other fun creations. There are cute pins and jewelry too! I liked how it was all well organized. The proprietor Nancy helped me and was very kind. She showed me where everything is and let me browse as I pleased. She also wound my yarn into a cake/ball for me and let me know they offer knitting lessons if I'd ever like to try! I enjoyed the visit and will definitely return for any special or nice project I want to make.

The yarn selection is phenomenal - every color and texture you can possibly imagine. I lost track of time wandering up and down the aisles, petting nearly every skein. I think I managed to buy some of the softest things ever invented. Some of the yarns were so cool and weird that I actually did a little excited dance! I love that the woman running the shop didn't even laugh at me when I ran up to the register, smiling and giddy, and said "WHAT CAN I MAKE WITH THIS!??!" Instead, she gave me a pattern and made sure I knew how to do all of the stitches, since I told her I was a new knitter. The cat, Tanner, is the fattest cat I have ever seen, but she is absolutely adorable. She sprawls out in the aisles, and if you rub her belly, she'll lay on her back with her legs stretched out and look like a big ole pillow. It's also a nice bonus that they'll wind your yarn for you if you buy any hanks. In my case, this ended up being a double-edged sword though, because I wandered around and found more things that I simply had to buy. Nice trick! I love shopping in small yarn stores like this because they also give you so many project ideas! Looking up on top of a shelf and seeing a beautiful shawl constructed with the yarn you're holding in your hand is awesome and gives you a much better idea of how the yarn actually looks in a project. I can't wait to come back to this place! If only they could pick it up and move it to Columbus!!

It was a great way to kick off the holiday season. I love that there was an outdoor craft show at…read moreWashington Park at the same time, so I got a "two-fer." I shopped there for the traditional arts and crafts gifts, then went into the side door of Music Hall (yes, at you're looking at it, the fair can only be accessed through the left-hand side door of music hall) for unique artist-made crafts. I didn't buy much -- just a silk-screened t-shirt and some tasty Jalapeno jelly -- it was the perusing itself, and talking directly to the artists that was the joy of the season. And I had some great, animated conversations with the artists themselves, who were helpful and excited to talk about their work. Yes, these are hand-made specialty items, so the price was high. But it is going directly to the artists, so it is worth it.

The booths were very high-end, offering great design and well-made products. Eli's BBQ was there, along with a bar, coffee stand, and gelto. It wasn't very crowded when we went, so take that for what it is. YMMV. Be prepared to spend some serious cash, also. I didn't buy many things, but the bill was high. I like supporting artists and designers, so I don't mind, but it certainly isn't a budget shopping experience.
