Outstanding customer service! Mike and the wonderful woman who initially helped me at Capitol Lighting in New Jersey went above and beyond to locate a discontinued chandelier I had been searching everywhere for. They actually searched their basement and attic until they found one, made sure it had all the parts and was in excellent condition, and arranged to have it shipped to me. Less than five days--and just as many states--later, I had the chandelier in my hands! I truly appreciate the extra effort and personal service. It's rare to find people willing to go this far for a customer. Thank you both for making what seemed like an impossible search a success! read more

This review is a tad bit late... 8 years late haha! My wife and her family have been coming here for all their lighting needs for years! We came here a few years ago to do our major purchases for our apartment. We got 4 fixtures and 1 beautiful giant 12 piece chandelier! They have a huge showroom, with a ton of lighting options on display. Many of the ones that they have on display scale up or down. So if you see a design that you like, most likely they can get a larger one or a smaller one to suit your needs. Staff was very friendly and very helpful! They were able to answer all out questions no issue. They also provide installation services, but we wanted to do it ourselves. We came back a few weeks later because the bulbs that came with our chandelier were too big for the room and they replaced them with lower ones without question. A few years later, we moved rooms in our apartment and while taking the chandelier down, we broke one of its arms. They were able to order us a replacement likety split! All in all, it was a wonderful experience. Amazing selection, amazing service! 100% go here. read more

We just had a great experience at Capitol Lighting in East Hanover. We chose many lights for various rooms in our new home. Summer T. was soooooo helpful and couldn't have been nicer. She was friendly, gave us suggestions and even emailed me to confirm that we were aware of the maximum wattage on our outdoor lights to make sure that they would be bright enough for where we are putting them. The day that we were, the store was closing at 6:00pm, and Summer happily stayed late to help us complete our transaction, even though everyone else was leaving around us. She was pleasant the whole time, and we didn't feel rushed. The prices of the lights were competitive and a good value. I would definitely recommend this store to anyone looking for lighting for their home! read more

Old-fashioned service wins the day here. Yes Capitol has a fancy website with pictures and everything, but only list prices. I called in to this East Hanover store and very helpful salesperson Sherry D. helped me out with a respectable discount plus free shipping on a ceiling fan, sent directly to me, contactless shopping was great! The variety of offerings in the lighting world is just dumbfounding. There's a lot on display here but so so much more out there, no store can ever be big enough. read more

Capitol Lighting - My chandelier had a defective pole and Dave got a replacement part months before they said it was possible. - Lighting Stores Near Me - East Hanover, New Jersey

Absolutely horrible customer service experience. Selling a defective item and not giving money back to their client is fraudulent and is an unprofessional business model. I do not recommend anyone purchasing items from this company. I received a damaged product and immediately contacted the customer service, Ty, to get it replaced or get a refund. 4 weeks later, I finally get an update from Ty that I should be shipping back the item using a shipping label which he claims he sent three times, which I never received...3 Customer representatives let me know I will get an email confirmation of the status after 24hours, none of which I've received... At this point, I'm not sure if I will get my money back and it's a very disappointing process for a very simple request - a refund for a defective product which they sold. read more

excellent service by Dave D'Angelo. Loved the ease of doing business and the lighting we purchased. Will recommend this place

I had a desk lamp purchased more than a year ago. It was out of work a few weeks ago. I went back to the store, hoping the lamp could be replaced. The female store manager was very helpful. Dave Angelo is a true gem and asset to Capitol. He is knowledgeable and patient and knows the inventory.

What a great experience my fiancé and I had at Capitol Lighting with Dave at the East Hanover location. He was extremely knowledgeable and helped us get the perfect chandelier for our dining room. He was very patient and gave us a lot of time to think and make a decision - giving us all of the information we needed along the way. We will definitely be going back to him when we look to buy pendants for our island. Thank you for the great support Capitol Lighting and Dave! read more

Wonderful experience! Gage was so easy to work with. Very professional- definitely be back.

This review is for the quality of the customer service, which is non-existent. I ordered a light fixture, which I had professionally installed about 3 weeks after receipt. Unfortunately, the light fixture was defective. I called and spoke to Ida, who appeared very cooperative during that initial call. I followed her instructions to contact the manufacturer. But, after 3 voicemail messages to Ida, I have received no response. I love the fixture I purchased, but I want to exchange for another fixture that is not defective. I do not want a refund. I am not a design professional and I took a chance in ordering from this company. I placed another order more than 30 days ago that has not yet shipped, and I have sent 2 emails requesting cancellation of the order. It is no surprise that I have not received any response. Given the lack of responsiveness, I would advise to avoid this company. read more

If you think Capitol Lighting only carries lights, check yourself before you wreck yourself. Capitol Lighting is a dream come true, almost literally: the ceiling of crystalline, shimmering, metallic lights is a dreamscape. If you manage to take your eyes off the glorious, glistening chandeliers, lamps, and light fixtures, you'll see gorgeous pieces of furniture, stunning wall-length mirrors, and beautiful paintings and wall decor. And if you're able to take your eyes off of those things, you'll notice the price tags that are priced so well that you'll faint in disbelief; that's when one of the employees will swoop in. Customer service is extremely important to me: a customer service experience can make or break a store. David is the kind of employee who brings me back to a business time and time again. David is outstanding and goes above and beyond every during every visit. He is kind, cheerful, and works hard. After setting me up with a new chandelier, he promptly scheduled an electrician for installation, and then proceeded to sell me other items that captured my heart (i.e. painting, mirror). Dane is also fantastic. He is so friendly and thorough through the process of check-out/receiving your purchase. He made sure my chandelier was safely packaged and transported to my car and securely wrapped my framed painting to protect it on the journey home. I am so impressed with Capitol Lighting and recommend it to anyone I know looking for beautiful pieces for their home. I can't wait for my next visit to this shining, shimmering splendor. read more

Disappointed - this store has been around for ages - but it's getting old. the staff is not helpful, doesn't really care, doesn't attend to details, and I had to ask a ton of questions to get the basic information. No tracking number, can't find my order number... and Google rating is misleading because it's basically a self-serving mechanism. It chose a 5-star for me even though I tried to select a much lower rating. read more

I love the lights in this store but everytime I visit absolutely no one approaches to help me. This is my fourth and once again very disappointing visit. I'm always given an excuse that everyone is busy. It could be that I look very young for my age or something else but the customer service has been extremely poor. I love their selection but I can't bring myself to purchase again from this location. read more

Worst customer service ever. We are doing some lite house work- so we decide to change some of the fixtures. Since we are very familiar to the area, we decided to take the 35 minutes drive from home to come to this particular location to pick some light. One of the worst places for customer service ever. We literally witnessed one of the workers approach the other customers and offer them her business card while telling them that they worked on commission. So why then were we overlooked? Seems like eyeballs were following us all over the store, yet reluctant to approach us. I'm guessing we didn't 'look' green enough... read more

I would highly recommend checking out Capitol Lighting. I've been purchasing light fixtures from them since 2018 when I bought my house. They have better quality products and greater and more unique selection than Home Depot and Lowe's. Also, I've found their pricing to be better than anything you can find on Home Depot, Lowe's or online. Every time I go I only work with Sherry (I leave and come back if she's not around). Thank you Capitol Lighting! read more
