He has an amazing team of trusted employees and sub-contractors who did an amazing job demoing and preparing my backyard for paver installation and new sod. The paver design was absolutely perfect, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect layout and completion. Also we had two short fences installed, and they were very well built and the gates are the perfect height and perfectly functional. Some might not like a contractor bringing too many workers onto the property, thinking that they are just doing a rush-job, but with this team of guys they all worked very efficiently and got the job done in only one week. That's pretty darn fast. Also the cleanup work was also very thorough, and (very important) they brought a port-a-pottie so we didn't have to worry about where the workers would relieve themselves.

We were wondering whether to go with pressure treated wood or concrete blocks. Hugo met with us the day after we called him and explained a wood wall with a French drain behind it would last that long and be less expensive than concrete. He sent us his detailed proposal with the price for both wood and concrete so we could compare. We decided on wood but had many questions about exactly how the wall and drain would be built. Hugo met with us the next day, addressed all our concerns, answered all our questions, included our requests in his revised proposal, and sent us the new proposal the next morning. Hugo's crew came out the following week and completed the job in two half-days. They double-coated the three 3 X 12 boards in waterproof wood seal, set five 4 X 6 posts four feet deep in drilled piers, and fully encased the 2 ft X 3 ft X 13 ft drain in non-woven filter fabric with two feet of drain rock and one foot of soil. It is a sturdy wall! Hugo and his team were great to work with throughout the entire process, understood that we were sharing the cost and kept us all in the communication loop, and showed us each day what they would be doing. We are happy customers, and we would use them again if we had to.

After getting multiple quotes, Vitoria stood out immediately for their professionalism, responsiveness, and willingness to come out more than once to walk the site, discuss ideas, and thoughtfully plan the project before we ever committed. Their pricing was fair and competitive, and their approach gave us confidence from day one. They have been truly exceptional to work with throughout the entire process. As our plans evolved (as they often do on a project of this scale) Vitoria was flexible and transparent, providing quick, clear pricing for adjustments and options that helped us stay comfortably within budget. Any unexpected issues or small mistakes that came up were handled immediately and corrected without hesitation, additional cost, or us needing to push. Their team worked incredibly hard and efficiently, often close to seven days a week, to stay ahead of incoming rain so we'd have safe, usable surfaces for walking and parking. The quality of workmanship is excellent, and the attention to detail really shows... especially with the hardscape and driveway lighting they installed, which makes the entire project absolutely pop. Our backyard and driveway are now stunning, and we couldn't be happier. Mike, Flavio, and the entire Vitoria team were competent, hardworking, communicative, and consistently met (and exceeded) our expectations. We loved working with them and would hire Vitoria Pavers again in a heartbeat. Highly, highly recommend.

But in general, he has not been able to provide a crew that delivers work matching the quality you'd expect for the price. His crew frequently doesn't show up, and he often doesn't know where they are. When they are on site, they drink alcohol and smoke heavily. One day they appeared to have thrown a party, leaving food and beer bottles scattered across my yard for me to clean up. They've also taken items from the job site belonging to the homeowners and never replaced them. They've made decisions that put people's safety at risk, with no urgency to fix them. The main steps to my yard had to be redone because they were all different sizes and sloping down. Instead of making a plan to ensure a rapid repair, they tore up the stains and left the site a hazard. He then asked for payment for materials and tools to redo his mistakes. Michael doesn't seem to have real control over his crew and only shows up when an issue is escalated or when he needs payment. As homeowners, we shouldn't have to micromanage a contractor this closely just to know what his own crew is doing or when to expect them. On multiple occasions, his crew told him they were on site when they clearly were not. We have cameras. He also asked me to cover the cost of tools he should already have as a professional in this trade -- for instance, a wet stone-cutting tool to control concrete dust and protect his workers from inhaling it. Despite asking multiple times, his crew seemed resentful when I requested wet cuts, even for their safety. At this point, having already been paid roughly 90% of the total cost, it seems he doesn't have the funds left to finish the job and is now stuck. Like other reviewers here, I've been more than patient -- but this project is months overdue and still incomplete.
