I hired Michael and his team for a large hardscape project. To his credit, he has at times gone above and beyond -- for example, hauling away construction debris that wasn't his to keep the site clean. But in general, he has not been able to provide a crew that delivers work matching the quality you'd expect for the price. His crew frequently doesn't show up, and he often doesn't know where they are. When they are on site, they drink alcohol and smoke heavily. One day they appeared to have thrown a party, leaving food and beer bottles scattered across my yard for me to clean up. They've also taken items from the job site belonging to the homeowners and never replaced them. They've made decisions that put people's safety at risk, with no urgency to fix them. The main steps to my yard had to be redone because they were all different sizes and sloping down. Instead of making a plan to ensure a rapid repair, they tore up the stains and left the site a hazard. He then asked for payment for materials and tools to redo his mistakes. Michael doesn't seem to have real control over his crew and only shows up when an issue is escalated or when he needs payment. As homeowners, we shouldn't have to micromanage a contractor this closely just to know what his own crew is doing or when to expect them. On multiple occasions, his crew told him they were on site when they clearly were not. We have cameras. He also asked me to cover the cost of tools he should already have as a professional in this trade -- for instance, a wet stone-cutting tool to control concrete dust and protect his workers from inhaling it. Despite asking multiple times, his crew seemed resentful when I requested wet cuts, even for their safety. At this point, having already been paid roughly 90% of the total cost, it seems he doesn't have the funds left to finish the job and is now stuck. Like other reviewers here, I've been more than patient -- but this project is months overdue and still incomplete. read more

Our backyard was raised so we wanted to flatten it out in order to not have to have stairs. All the other contractors we spoke to said it could not be done or gave us a quote that made the dream impossible. However Michael readily agreed and gave us a fair quote. It took about a month longer than scheduled (like most projects) but everything was always communicated. read more

Westcoast Hardscape did an amazing job on our backyard. They tore down our existing patio overhang and concrete, and built a large new pergola, and also poured new concrete. They installed artificial turf as well. Ground lighting in the turf, and recessed lighting in our pergola ceiling completed the project. They also brainstormed with us on a couple problem areas like poor drainage under a downspout, and moving a water faucet to a better location. I think the thing I appreciated about them the most was the communication from Michael. He let us know when the crew would be out and visited our yard frequently while the job was underway. His quote was accurate, and I was VERY happy not to get change ordered to death. And Cesar - his lead for this project - was BRILLIANT! He seemed to know everything and gave great advice and ideas. No shortcuts were taken, only high quality products were used, and I know it will last decades. Should we have another project, we will definitely use Westcoast Hardscape again. read more

Oct 13 update: Our site is still having debris (construction leftover piles), broken damaged fences, constant reminders to fix pool wires and tiles ,no updates or estimate for gate on time, so. basically we are stalled once again. Drainage work got done/permitted with him getting workers while we paid for big bobcats and now moratorium needs immediate engagement, which he promises and delays by week as before. We have at this point no update of contract/money overpayment returning by bank loan while we keep getting told liars on text when we resist non stop delays. We are engaging and paying for his little involvement and plenty of cussing. Sign at your own risk read more

Had an opportunity to discuss and get estimates with Michael Lopez. He reached out to me and offered his service. Showed up on time to our meeting get measurements. Provided clear written estimate for the work I looked to get done for my backyard. He did a great job of following up without being too invasive and respected my time. Although it wasn't the right fit, Michael showed a great deal of professionalism and was easy to talk to. read more

Westcoast Hardscape were awesome. From the beginning Michael was very easy to get in touch with and super responsive. While I was looking around for quotes, I felt he was the most honest and was willing to work with me in order to earn my business. Shoutout to his crew as well. Those guys work hard from demo to installation to cleanup. I am glad I went with them, and now our backyard is much more enjoyable and low maintenance. read more

We loved working with West Coast Hardscape to fix our backyard disaster in San Francisco; the monkey on our back that shady contractors inflicted upon us when they ruined our property last year. I'm sooo busy lately but I'm also very design and detail oriented, so I was really afraid of leaving this project without an any supervision during one of my busiest travel schedule to date. From our first consultation, Michael felt like a genuine dude whom I could trust to get the job done, so I didn't feel like I had to manage anything or directly keep tabs on their work for the month or two it was completed AND WE STILL got the most gorgeous paver patio with curves to die for that I didn't even have to spec out myself. I feel like I just chose the pavers and Westcoast Hardscape made this beautiful new backyard happen magically. JK WE KNOW THEY PUT IN A LOT OF HARD WORK and the results speak for themselves. They were really patient and flexible with my insane schedule too, which made these cool cats even cooler. Needless to say would definitely work with them again for future projects! read more

Michael was wonderful to work with. He was professional and patient as he listened to our creative ideas. He and his crew were able to bring our paver and fencing ideas to fruition.  Michael was also available to us throughout the process, all the while listening to our concerns and making things right. He'll walk you through what can be a stressful process to one of enjoying a beautiful product when completed.  Thank you and we look forward to working with you in our future projects. read more

Westcoast Hardscape did an amazing job with the transformation of our backyard. We are truly satisfied from start to finish. Mike estimated a time of completion of course with weather permitting and the job was done in 2 weeks as he assumed. We got the quote. We even compared other options which we appreciate Mike for allowing us some time to make that decision and glad we chose Westcoast Hardscape to complete our project. We are impressed with the team and its efficiency to give us quality work and made for a fast seamless process from taking out the pile of garbage, gutted our old rusted shed, demo, removed the trees and took out the old dog house to giving us exactly what we asked for which was to build us a new fence since the last storm took it out, cement and lay pavers all throughout with leaving some space for plants. They even worked one day in the pouring rain when I expected for them to take the day off. They are amazing for that. The guys are so nice. They don't all speak English but they will make the effort to understand your requests and are more than willing to listen to some on the spot asks which was highly appreciated. THANK YOU WESTCOAST HARDSCAPE. You guys are for sure my go to for future projects and would highly recommend to anyone. read more

Westcoast Hardscape did an amazing job turning our backyard into a modern, usable space to enjoy in the summer and colder Bay Area days. We worked closely with Mike Lopez the owner to make our vision come to life. He listened to all our requests, maintened great communication throughout the project, gave us different options for materials, savings and was very accommodating. His team was punctual, friendly, fast and efficient. Our yard is now the hangout spot for our neighbors and friends. We have a great space for us to enjoy outdoor meals, a safe space where our son can play, our dogs can run around in and we can enjoy a drink and cozy up by the fire pit. Overall it was a great experience working with the Westcoast Hardscape team from the planing to execution. We'll definitely be working with them in the future as we expand our backyard plans and upgrade the front yard. read more

We recently enjoyed working with Mike from Westcoast Hardscape, who helped transform our small barren backyard into a beautiful garden. Our project included installing new pavement, a retaining wall, all new sod, lights, new fence gate, plant trees and sprinkler systems. We knew Mike was the right choice for our project from the initial consultation because he is friendly and the price is competitive. Throughout the project, Mike was always quick to respond and coordinate work in a timely fashion. Working with Mike was a breeze, even with several change orders along the way. He was always cooperative, understanding, and proactive in finding solutions to meet our vision. We are very happy with the completed work delivered by Mike and his team. Mike's great communication and flexibility made it easy to work with him. We highly recommend Westcoast Hardscape to anyone seeking hardscaping services. read more

Disappointing experience. They missed our first scheduled appointment to view my yard for an estimate, and on the second attempt showed up in the wrong city. Not the level of service I expected. read more

I hired Westcoast Hardscapes to replace my concrete driveway with pavers. The owner Michael Lopez came over and did the estimate himself, and the crew did a great job for a fair price. I then hired them to rebuild a falling down fence, and to completely redesign my back yard with a new sprinkler system, raised boxes for vegetables, wider flower boarders and a circular succulent garden. His crew was professional and prompt, and worked some long days to get the job done on time. Michael was my contact, and he responded quickly to any questions and provided me with daily updates if I was at work. His written estimates were clear and accurate, and he really worked with me to make sure the project had everything I wanted, within my budget. I highly recommend West Coast Hardscapes, and would hire them again for any future work. read more

Five stars all around! Michael and his team were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. They were so quick to get me a quote and were also able to work with me on pricing to fit our budget. We reached out to Westcoast Hardscape to redo our backyard that has a pool, and Mike and his team did an amazing job. It was so easy working with Mike and his team. I like how the quote included all material and labor cost. Mike would give head's up when certain material needed to be picked out, and he did all the ordering. There were times when I was indecisive on what color pavers or type of stones or thickness/color of turfs to pick, and he would order and drop off samples to help make the decision easier. Mike and his foreman are so knowledgeable, and his team worked quickly. We hit the rains for a few months, so they stopped working but went back to work after. Since our yard was big and we did some change of orders, it took some time to finish. Throughout the duration of the project, Mike was communicative and was very responsive via text and email. We have a slope on the back of the yard, and Mike was super helpful in terms of giving me ideas on what we can do with it, and also different ideas to work with our budget. Our yard looks amazing, and I'm so so happy with it. Would definitely reach out to Mike and his team again with future projects. read more

Mike helped us renovate our bathroom and backyard. He was courteous and responsive to our needs. We provided him a picture of how we wanted our bathroom to look and he did it exactly to the tee. Who does that?? Amazing! He actually went with me to the decor store to pick out the tile and other items so that was awesome. Most contractors won't do that especially since it is just asking for a change in the project. Pricing was competitive and he was transparent. Will definitely use him for all projects around the home. read more

Owner, Mike Lopez, took our money and ran, literally. Admitted that he diverted funds to other projects. And then promised that he would purchase materials with the money we gave him. The materials never arrived. Learned from his team that they weren't getting paid. It was terrible. He hooks you at first by being incredibly responsive, including with fixing problems. But manages his projects and the money poorly. In the end we had to cut our significant losses and hire subcontractors to get the job done. Don't be fooled like we were. read more

Mike at Westcoast Hardscape did a great job with our driveway in 2021. It was a big job and his price was very competitive. After getting started, within 2 weeks his crew had removed all the old asphalt, installed new drainage pipes and other conduits, put in the new base-rock and sand and laid down the pavers. Even the neighbors were impressed with the speed and quality of the work. So a few months ago when I needed to redo my backyard, I didn't shop around and just called Mike. Within 4 weeks (delayed due to rain), I had new drainage, irrigation, pavers and lawn. It looks wonderful and again his price was very reasonable. Mike and his crew have really good attention to detail, use high quality products and don't try to cut corners. And if I noticed something small that looked a bit off, they were receptive to feedback and always willing to fix it. Throughout both projects, Mike was great about responding to my questions and working with me on any concerns or changes. He was easy to talk to and I never felt that he wasn't committed to doing right by me. I'd definitely go back to Mike for any future outdoor projects. read more

Super happy with the work that Mike and his team did. We needed pavers to removed from our playground and replaced with cement slabs. We also needed wood chips between the cement slabs for an additional sensory play area. Westcoast Hardscape was not only reasonably priced but also professional and super timely in executing the project. The timing of the work had to happen between school sessions, but Westcoast Hardscape was able to meet our scheduling needs with no issues. We even had a minor hiccup with one of the cement slabs being too rough, but MIke and team redid the work super fast, and still within the scheduled time. The finished work came out very smooth and clean. The kids love the update to their play space. Thank you so much for the solid work done! read more

Huge Shout Out to Mike and his team at Westcoast Hardscape. Recently they completed my paver project for my home in Fremont. Quality work, clean and very organized thru the whole process. I used westcoast hardscape to remove my old concrete patio and install pavers. Mike from westcoast was really easy to work with, and the crew did a great job. They were able to repair parts of the foundation that was only revealed after they removed the old concrete. I originally thought I need a French drain, but they were able to save me money by grading the patio away from the house. They did the work quickly and were friendly. I'm really happy with the results! I will use Westcoast again when I'm ready to do other parts of my yard. read more

Mike and West Coast failed to deliver on our project. Everything starts off great, and we even overlooked small mistakes, like cutting down our lemon tree. Once one our $5k installment payments apparently went towards bail money, the job fell apart. The fence has fallen apart in places. A fence post was installed in a way that blocked a window from being able to open, and they had to be convinced that this was an issue. Three out of four gate handles pulled right off in the first three months. Fence was never stained per our original project scope. Entire backyard on a single irrigation line that was put in as after thought. Been chasing Mike for followup for over a year and just over it. Buyer beware. read more

Mike's team did a good job redoing my front yard. However, Mike never completed the agreed-upon remainder of the work he was supposed to do on my sidewalk. I emailed him, texted him, and called him multiple times over many months. When he did respond, he said he would do the work, but then never followed through and it's been months. He stopped by at some point and said his crew would complete the work in two weeks and then never came back, despite texts, phone calls, and emails. I strongly do not recommend using this company if you want your work completed. I've never experienced anything like this before with any other company I've ever worked with. Very frustrating and disappointing. The work I really needed to be done never got done. read more

Mike and his team are great! They're customer service oriented and deliver great value! They'll do their best to match timing expectations and estimates as well. read more

We wanted to redo our backyard to make it more functional. At the time, we knew very little about the process, the materials, and the labor needed to bring our vision to life. We received proposals from several contractors and eventually decided to go ahead with Mike Lopez. It was a good decision as he turned out to be patient, responsive, and skilled in remodeling work. He helped us select the pavers, the synthetic turf, and everything else that was needed to make our backyard more appealing and useful. His crew was punctual and went about their work in an organized fashion. The entire project was completed on time and on budget. We highly recommend Mike's company, Westcoast Hardscape. read more

I am eternally grateful I connected with Mike and his team at Westcoast Hardscape - especially as a rookie real estate investor on my first project. As a newbie RE investor, everything looks good on paper during the analysis stage, but as I progressed forward, fear sets in as I learned all that I don't know when it came to the rehab and renovation stage, but the looming fears of drastically missing the budget subsided as Mike walked me through the expectations, the process, and hit every deadline we agreed upon - he literally walked me through Home Depot to price out materials! Amongst other things, Mike has an astounding knowledge of landscaping, concrete paving and repair, and garden supply. He and his team have stupendous attention to detail and their flexibility was critical to the success of my project. I can't wait for the next one we can work on together! read more

We had an amazing experience working with Mike and the Westcoast Hardscape team. From the get-go Mike was responsive, friendly, patient, and very knowledgeable. We already had a design planned, but he really brought it to life and gave valuable insight into materials, colors, and logistics. He also took care of sourcing and recommending finishing touches, like wall and ground lighting, that we were super happy with. As busy as he is, he took time to stop by often to check in, which was really appreciated. He was also really considerate of our schedule and timing needs. Our backyard is so functional and attractive now and we'd recommend Mike and the team to anyone! read more

At first Mike was really engaged in our project. Since it is a custom built fence with knotwood aluminum, I wanted to include him in the design phase and get his feedback on the material list before ordering. After waiting more than a week despite being told he will get it to me by the weekend. The quantities where way off when I let him know the cost of each piece and our desire to stay within a set budget he said he would look over the numbers. Another week passed and still no response despite emails and voicemail. When I finally reached out to say that we were going to find another general contractor to help us with the project he finally responded that he was busy and understood our decision. Since I thought he was sincere I reached out for another quote and again no answer! It's been weeks! I highly do NOT RECOMMEND. I think it is so important to be courteous if nothing more when someone reaches out to you for a quote. One thing this has thought me is good help is hard to find!!! read more
