This spot was a 2 min walk from my hostel so I stopped by here on my way out of the city. The 2 eggs toast home fries and sausage was good and cooked quickly. My brother and I were in the area and were on the search for a quick but delicious place for lunch. Luckily we found Capitol Hill Taqueria and had an amazing lunch. We ordered q wide selection of their tacos along with a side of rice and beans. The taco portions were huge, so I recommend ordering once less taco than you think you would want. Everything was seasoned nicely and the salsas were fantastic. The prices were incredibly reasonable as well. Last time they added 3.00 as a surcharge for the price of eggs going up, now after the egg price crisis is over you would think that the prices went back to normal. No, they give you a menu with no warning or reason for a price increase for a 9.00 breakfast that is now 12.00, $12.96 to be exact. Plus tip.. This is a 33 % increase, If the menu said 12.00 you could make your own decisions, here they slip the surprise after your meal. This place was DELICIOUS. We came here for brunch, 2 adults and an infant. It's a small place with limited seating, but we were able to get a table shortly after arriving. We both got the chilaquiles with eggs and steak. I also got a side pancake. All of it was so tasty. I couldn't even finish my main entree. We look forward to coming back here. Capitol Hill Diner & Taqueria provided a delicious brunch feast this past weekend. My partner and I waited briefly for a booth and set about exploring the menu. Famished, we accidentally ordered a little too much food. This was not a bad thing, we soon learned. The chorizo special was delicious. Rich meat cooked up with eggs, onion, tomato, and jalapeño, served with plantains, beans, and tortillas. So many flavors and preparations coming together on one plate! Very glad I gave this a try. The chicken enchiladas were also impressive. My plate was full of yummy food: three rolled enchiladas smothered in a tart and slightly spicy salsa verde, freshly chopped lettuce and crema on top, with beans and rice in ample quantities. I am an enthusiastic consumer of enchiladas, and these easily passed my test. Finally, the birria tacos with consomme. This proved a bridge too far as we struggled to stuff ourselves with more food. The birria was decent; a little salty perhaps, but not the worst I've had. Probably wouldn't be my top pick next time around but it was nice getting to try their version. Service was decent considering how busy they were. They do a brisk takeout service while the dine-in customers seemed a mix of families, college students, locals, just lots of different folks coming through for a pleasant and affordable meal. read more

A little spot on Smith Hill that serves Mexican food. It's pretty comparable to other Mexican spots like La Lupita or Órale, but what sets them apart is their fantastic breakfast menu. It feels like a classic diner complete with booths and stools next to the counter, and although it's a little on the small side and can feel a little cramped if it's busy. The service is excellent, as are the prices. If you love diners and haven't been here yet, I'd definitely recommend giving it a shot. read more

This place was delicious! I got the huevos rancheros, I asked for avocado on it but didn't get it (even though we were charged for it). It was still very tasty and yummy. The red sauce tasted homemade and the beans were the best part. The tortillas were a little hard to cut, but whatever. I was very happy with my rancheros, very delicious. you know when you go to a new spot and you already can feel that you will become a regular? that is exactly how i felt when i walked through these doors. everything about this place is so freaking quaint and lovely. the exterior of the building reminds me that i am in new england, the inside gives classic retro diner vibes. the food was so delicious and so well priced. we got the chilaquiles and steak entree. and we shared the flan and it was delectable. the server was so sweet and attentive. and we did not feel rushed but it was quick service at the same time. i cannot wait to try all the other yummy items on the menu. oh and how could i forget they make their OWN tortillas in house and i could tell just from looking at them and then almost cried happy tears eating them. the whole place really tasted like i was eating in someone's home and they made me a hearty, quality meal. read more

Definition of hole in the wall. For a couple of years I drove by Capitol Hill Taqueria on my way to work and its Mexican dinner and American breakfast menu always peaked my interest. I was always hesitant to go in because the area isn't the best and from the outside it doesn't look like much. One night I decided to give it a try and see if this place fit the description of a hidden gem.[[HIGHLIGHT]]Upon entering the inside struck me as fun, booths plastered with comic book covers, Mexican music softly playing in the kitchen and a game show playing on a small tv above the register cued me in to thinking I was in for a good meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I sat myself in one of the comic plastered booths and a server was over right away with a menu. She was very friendly and gave me a recommendation of what to order. I got some tamales and a drink I couldn't pronounce the name of. I didn't have to wait long for the food and it was incredible some of the best Mexican I've had in the state. I left satisfied after that night, yet I was left curious about their breakfast selection, would it be on par with the Mexican? After having had breakfast there twice now I can confirm they also knock breakfast out of the park. Crispy bacon, fluffy eggs, golden hash browns, and some of the best pancakes I've ever tasted. Seriously what is in those pancakes they have a unique flavor and I can't put my finger on what the magic ingredient is. Been twice in one week, first time to try tamales, excellent. The second time for lunch. My companion had the chorizo and eggs, it was again excellent but the waiter needed help. The tortillas tasted homemade. I ordered the chicken enchiladas, very good and great beans. The place is tiny and I was told I can bring adult beverages if we would like to at night. Woke up craving breakfast burritos. Found this place online and decided to place an order for pickup. The person on the phone was super sweet and the process of ordering was very easy. Food was ready in 20 min, and it was DELICIOUS. Ordered two of the big burritos and the Mexican Eggs (the Only Eggs combo with plantains, beans, and tortillas), and spiced mango. Everything was so yummy. They even gave us candy with our order. Definitely recommend all of the food we ordered. The corn tortillas and salsas tasted super fresh, and the burritos had cilantro, lettuce, rice, refried beans, all the good stuff in them. Mexican eggs were great. Have had breakfast here many times, and it is always so fresh and delicious. I decided to use them to feed my birthday party and they were absolutely amazing! We had a lot of food (like, a lot) and all of it was outstanding. We had tacos, rice, guacamole and chips, and nopales salad and they provided us with all the toppings and sauces. I'm from Idaho and we know potatoes. I'm giving the chef an honorary Idahoan membership. Next the omelet was cooked to perfection. If you are wanting some Mexican food give the Gringa a try. Tons of delicious meat and cheese in a tortilla. The plating of all of the food was beautiful. We finished up our meal with the churros and ice cream. It was wonderful!
