After months of trying to find a door company to replace our fire rated garage door with no results ANYWHERE, I found Capitol. I had a meeting for my job. You email me and say; I turned away your man. Nice try. Your office promised he would be here at 1:00, he was an hour late when it was not okay for me. Then you keep my money. Just want to be sure we have this down right. I understand you don't think this fee is much, but when people fraudulently keep my money, I don't play. After making repeated phone calls and paying a couple visits, the company either will not return my calls or claim they do not know where my paid merchandise could be located. I reached out to this business to put in an order for 2 locks that were used at the company I work for. My maintenance department first stated that I could call the company and let them know we have an account there. When I called and spoke to Hillary, she let me know that we did not have an account and it would have to be paid for up front. She explained to me that they did have the lock on hand. The following day I went in and asked for Hillary. She was able to supply me with the locks needed along with aligning my master key with those locks. I have bought several doors from Capital door in the past when I lived in Modesto. I have always been very satisfied with the sales reps and installation in the past so much so that when I bought a house out of town I drove 100 miles ( round trip) to continue doing business with Capital door. The door that I wanted needed to be custom built. My sales rep was Kevin Vincent. I gave him the measurements of the door I needed. I was told it would take 8-10 weeks to build and he would have his installers come to my house and install it. I was fine with the time line and paid cash for the door, hardware and installation up front. It took about four months before Kevin called me to set up an installation date. They had to reschedule the install for the following week because some of the hardware was not in yet. I was okay with that. On the day of installation Kevin text me that his guys would come and deliver my door and hardware but would not be able to install it due to them not doing the measurements. I responded " If they needed to do the measurements themselves why didn't you address that when I purchased the door and gave you my measurements and why did you let me pay an install fee? " I told him to call me please. He responded back via text and told me that the door is mine they would deliver only and that if my measurements were correct it would be for me to install. I was furious at this point and called him. He would not answer so I called and spoke to the sales manager. I told her to turn the delivery truck around after explaining what had happened she set up an appointment for the install The following week. The installers showed up on time and in the rain. I was very happy with both the quality of the door and the installers. I would be giving a five star review if Kevin Vincent would not have been involved. What he tried to pull on me and how he handled the situation was unprofessional, rude and deceptive. At this point I don't know if I will ever do business there again. The product is okay and the person who did the measurements and installation was great- 5 star. The problem is their customer service and timely delivery. We were told when the order was placed, which had to be PREPAID, it would be about 2 weeks - that was JULY 18th (process started July 3rd when the measurements were taken). After waiting about a month for their call to set up installation date, I followed up and was told they were waiting for a hinge (a DOOR company doesn't have a hinge for replacement french doors that are in over 250 homes in our development so are most likely a standard size and are made to order - NOT CUSTOM) . A simple phone call to say there would be a delay should have been made. Finally, in September they came out to install the doors and one of them had been cut too short. They were both finally installed yesterday (October 18th). The 2 week process took 3 MONTHS to the day!!!!! Never any follow-up calls, no apologies for the delays. Mistakes happen and this review would never have been submitted if they would have just given us progress reports. We wouldn't have been happy with their avoidable delays (hinge and door made wrong size), but at least we would have known what was going on. read more

After 30 years of doing business with Capitol door sales this last 8 months have been horrible, the company was sold at some point around the first of the year or so, This new owner has preceded (in my opinion) to destroy it, so many issues with my orders have been mind blowing, way to many times I've had problems with quality with the doors and other orders , I was trying to be understanding however its become very frustrating. So today became the end of my relationship with Capitol Door, I went to pick up my materials and 4 doors that they called and said were ready for pickup, materials were missing I started to load doors notice damage they needed to repair, then checked other doors quality issues with them so I asked the salesman to please have the owner (John) come look at the issues, he agreed that they probably should repair the loose skin on the door (Good) then proceeded to tell me that the rest of the issues were the painter's problem to deal with because the doors slabs came that way to him when I said it's his issue because I'm buying it from him John said he not fixing everyone's doors, I then just said go back to your office I'll deal with salesman, John then jump in and said nobody tells him where to go and for me to get off of his f**king property I said no because you have my money and my products, right away he got right into my face (inches) I asked him if he was going to hit me? He said he might wtf way to run a business needless to say he threw away 30 years of loyalty away in an instant... 3 employees watched it go down my advice for anyone and everyone find somewhere else to go as soon as I get my products Modesto door gets my thousands a year going forward, my business my clients most important to me. We were told the doors were available and there would be a two day turn around. We paid for them on a Friday and finally called Wednesday afternoon. At that point we were told they were on back order. They asked if we wanted to wait or switch our choose of doors or wait. We asked to be credited back and cancel the order. At this point we were told that he didn't have authority to do that but his boss would be there on Monday and he would speak to him. Horrible communication. NEVER use this company! first we had a new sales person so some mistakes are expected... after 2 weeks of incorrect updates and failed promises, we were notified that our order was never even started due to Capitol door waiting on the correct hardware. We'll, the hardware they we're waiting on was actually in stock in their workshop. we were told the order will be ready by Friday.... Friday came and no update so we called. they responded I'm sorry but they're still in the shop, we will have them ready next week. we called for an update on Monday, response"they're still in the shop". we called Tuesday for an update, response"they're still in the shop". we called Wednesday at and the exact same question and answer was exchanged. later Wednesday they called back and told us that they forgot to update the order and they will now send them to the shop to be built. our project was now delayed by 2 weeks. we asked to be bumped up to a high priority due to the delays but we were told there is nothing they can do..... when our doors were finally ready, they were built with the wrong swing. so jokingly we asked so will it be another 3 weeks to get this corrected? even worse, they told us the doors are non-returnable. so here we are 3 weeks late on a project & now ordering complete new doors from another vendor. we lost time on the project, damaged a relationship with a client and now have to pay another $600 to another vendor just to get the job done. We had a terrible experience with Capitol Door and their salesman, Rick. They had poor quality control, poor customer service, and horrible response time. Our original order was for six doors. We expected some delay due to the current supply chain issues in the US, but the wait was ridiculous. The first time we waited about 12 weeks, only to be told by Rick that the manufacturer no longer made the product and we'd have to wait another 6 weeks because he was going to change to another manufacturer. We had to call Rick repeatedly because he never returned our calls. The office staff was friendly and professional but Rick was rude. When we finally got four of the six doors, two of them were warped. We had to return them ourselves, then wait for the replacements. Weeks later when we got the replacements, they were mismatched. Additional weeks later when we got the right door, it was not drilled correctly. We then had to call repeatedly about the two remaining doors that we'd been waiting months to receive. When we finally got them, they were painted the wrong color! Really?? Doesn't anyone quality check product at Capitol Door!? Can't say enough about the help I received from Larry Scotten at Capitol Door Sales. We replaced a worn out and sagging door and sidelight that had been installed during the construction of our home in 1983-84. I had never paid attention to this door - it had been unevenly trimmed down to fit in the space available along with the sidelight next to it that was also trimmed asymmetrically by our builder! Do not use this company. I purchased EXPENSIVE custom front doors from this company. After one month I noticed that the wood at the bottom of the door started to buckle. I called and was told doors were covered under warranty and will be replaced. It has now been over 1 year and I am still waiting! According to my sales rep, the doors are in and have been for months now, but they are just too busy to come out and replace them. Considering I paid over $2000.00 for the doors, I did not expect these issues. Due to moisture that has caused the wood to swell, the doors now stick to the point that it makes it extremely difficult to even open the door. I have made several calls to the business, sent emails. and as of 3/14/21, I have not received ANY assistance, in fact it is just about impossible to even speak with someone about the issue. Called this morning to inquire about two exterior doors. I was transferred to a female sales rep to place my order. As I was explaining what I need she Interrupted me by just saying no no no! She stated we are a custom door shop and don't have anything in stock. I said ok but I still need to get two doors made then. She very rudely replied you need to be specific you can't just say glass in the door. She never once gave me an option or a chance to talk and just kept cutting me off. Finally I had enough and told her she was extremely rude to someone just calling to inquire about doors. Extremely poor customer service in my opinion. This was not my first experience with Capitol door. I have ordered many doors from them in the past with no issues. In our current times with COVID-19 and most business needing to take place over the phone this was the worst experience I have ever had. With business slowing down you would think people would be happy to make a sale. I do home remodel so I use a lot of doors. From this point forward I will never use them again. I am in the process of remodeling a house that was built in 1952. I'm not a contractor, just a 50+ year old woman that loves diy and knows just enough to get myself in trouble sometimes. Some of the walls in my house have sheetrock while others have the old plaster. Because of the varying thickness of the walls and flooring that has settled, buying from a big box store isn't always an option. When it came time for doors and frames I knew I needed to go with a company that specialized in custom top quality materials but I couldn't afford to spend a fortune on them. I called several places around this area from Turlock, Modesto and even Stockton. Finally I spoke to George at Capitol Door. Not only did he have the best prices on doors but he invited me down so I could pick out a style of door I might like. I was looking for solid core for all the interior doors in the house. Once there, I was led to a showroom where he showed me many styles and options. I picked out one I loved and ordered 4 of them, 2 pre hung and 2 slabs. All four doors came in on time and exactly as I ordered. However, one of the doors I mistakenly ordered as a slab needed to be framed and I was under the gun with a contractor that was due to the job in two days. So what would normally have needed a week to get done George rushed to have it done in a day. This saved me money by not having the contractor held up on the job. I got the door and the contractor was able to get it done without charging more. Another door I ordered the wrong width on the frame. Ugh! Yes, I'm an amateur. lol I called George and told him what I'd done. He explained to me how to fix it and cut me the pieces I would need and had them ready for pick up in 30 minutes. Again, he rushed this because I'm dealing with a contractor on site that needs to get the job done. Both of my mistakes were taken care of with quite a lot of effort on the part of Capitol Door Sales. They had me fixed up both times quickly and perfectly. Thank you George! So I have rarely ever had this kind of customer service with any business I've ever dealt with. Every person there is friendly, helpful and they know their stuff. George in particular is amazing. Call him with a problem and he's going to help you fix it fast. If you are looking for a good product you won't find better. I love the doors! They look fabulous and are such a huge improvement in noise reduction and style. If you're looking for good customer service you won't find better there either.
