A great restaurant is known by the bread, this place provides brown and serve roils with butter. Great bread with garlic and oil should be the choice, The eggplant was half inch thick, over dreaded, cardboard quality. The veal was an overcooked patty. Recently we had my son and daughter - in - law to be's wedding rehearsal dinner at Capitano's on a Friday evening. Party of 23. This was their first event of this kind. Sitting on the outside patio was lovely with a view of the sunset over the bay. Frankie our main server and her helpers were professional, attentive and friendly. The food was delicious from the appetizers to the entrees. Portion sizes were large. My Eggplant Parm was the best I ever had. I had leftovers for 2 more meals. Another guest mentioned that his Shrimp Scampi was the best he ever had. All quests raved about the food and the location. BYOB was also appreciated. Poor & inconsiderate service. It's "local summer" and we decided to try the new restaurant. We did NOT make a reservation & completely take responsibility for that. We made it up the stairs to the "host"/teen with iPad who ignored us. I'm on crutches with a broken leg. When the adult in the room made his way to host area (no seating here btw) he didn't acknowledge us and immediately seated the 3 people in front of us who also had no reservation. When he came back he told us to wait - we waited. Then he came back and said all he had was a high top table at the bar and could not accommodate us in the restaurant. I can't sit at a high top with a broken leg and I pointed this out. There were empty tables all around us. He repeated that's all he had. Of course I understand reservations but no consideration was made to be gracious or assist. I expect a new establishment to go the extra mile to accommodate especially when most people on the island at this time of year are locals. He lost a local customer AND a potential referral. For what it's worth, our neighbor said it's "meh". Do better Capitano. read more

Excellent food , gigantic portions , great space and view too bad parking is tough in season but we will be back many times

Made a reservation for 6PM. When we showed up the hostess brought to a random table outside between the door and the bussing station. There were 4 other empty tables along the rail and she said we couldn't take any of those because they were reserved. There were other 4 tops with only two people at those tables so it's not like they have a policy where they don't do that. She said she could seat us inside which we reluctantly agreed to. She brought us to a part of the restaurant where no one else was sitting and it was high top. We asked about any of the tables by a window and she just said no. That's when we decided to leave. I told the manager/owner that we were leaving because of bad customer service and she barely looked up and said okay. We will clearly not be going back. read more

The view from the deck is very nice. The wait staff is well trained as you can tell owners have other properties. Im very picky with Veal and this had to be the best I've had in south Jersey. The meatballs are delicious as well as their sauce. We Highly recommend this place. We are tough to please when it comes to Italian but this place is great. read more

Had an amazing time while on vacation w my family. For a brand new restaurant they seem to have everything running smoothly! My server was Riley, she was super informative on the menu and friendly ! I got 2 apps as my meal, the "Sizzling shrimp Scampi" , which was so tender and delicious and the "peaches and prosciutto", which was literally out of this world! My husband and I dined at Capitano the first week the restaurant was opened. From the moment we arrived we had an awesome dining experience. We were greeted by two lovely hostesses; one managed the system, while the other escorted us to our table while telling us a little about the restaurant. Once seated, the server and the busboy were quick to come over to offer us water and open our wine. They also both offered thoughts on the menu and the waitress answered all of our questions, though some had to be checked with the kitchen. It was clear that the service team was working really hard to provide a great experience to the guests. For our dinner, we chose the ricotta, walnut and peach appetizer, and salmon piccata and drunken eggplant. I also upgraded one of the salads ($7 upcharge) to the asparagus salad. The appetizers were served quickly along with some bread for the table. Our entrees took a little longer, but nothing outside the norm. It seemed to us a well paced dinner at a nicer restaurant. The food was all fresh and delicious. Everything was so flavorful unlike many restaurants on the island that serve bland seafood that you could easily make at home. It was clear that this is a new restaurant and there are some kinks to work out, but in time, this could be one of the best restaurants on the island. Here are some of the opportunities: 1) Servers need more training - though as previously mentioned the effort is there - they just need to have a better knowledge of the menu. 2) Rolls served are just ok when you consider the quality of the rest of the food. Also, there is no need to serve these on a board, which takes up too much room 3) Food (particularly the pasta) needed more salt (particularly the pasta) 4)Space could be used more effectively - the one section with a bar especially. While they don't have a liquor license, perhaps they could set up a raw bar or something interesting for those just wanting to drop in for pizza and apps. I've read some not so great reviews on this restaurant, but I would encourage everyone to try it out. It definitely is really promising and a great value. I'm excited for this addition to the LBI dining scene. read more

We knew it had just opened so expected a few bumps in our service but the food was below par as 3 out of 4 dishes were pretty much atrocious. The appetizers came out 1 by one with good 4-5 minutes in between and you could tell that there was no training of wait staff or bussers as even though they were trying hard they did not know what they were doing. Just recently opened so not fair to criticize too much. The staff are really working together and trying very hard to make this a great dining spot. They all seem to work as a team which will work well. Sandy and Eliza were great as were the runners and hostess. The outside porch deck space has been enlarged and looks great. A perfect spot to watch the sunset. As for the food overall it was very good with room for improvement in some areas. My wife had the 6 oz filet which she enjoyed. My sister enjoyed the flounder franchise as well. I had the veal Parm which was just good. The veal was plentiful and tender, but I wished the marinara was not so thick. It's a well seasoned sauce but very heavy. I would have preferred and expected a bit lighter sauce as they advertise as a Mediterranean Coastal restaurant. But that is my issue and not theirs. My only real disappointment was with their clam cocktail (six clams on the half shell). Of the six clams not one had a shell larger than a quarter so you can imagine the clams themselves were miniscule. This size clam is what you would expect in a linguine and clam sauce and not on the half shell. We will definitely return and try other items but I would not order the clams unless they confirm they are using proper size. I wish them well and recommend to all. read more

We had a reservation at 7.15pm for 2 people. We sat down and we were given water. The server came over for our order. We ordered calamari and our enteees which included salads. They brought us bread. The salads came about an hour later. We still did not get the calamari. The server came out and asked if we received our dinners yet, and we replied "no" and we said we also didn't get the calamari. She then comes back and says she realizes she never put the order in but it will be out very soon. We finally got the calamari. 45 mins. goes by, still no dinner. By this time, the waitstaff has been to our table several times with the wrong dinners. Our server comes out again, asking if we received our dinner.....ummm no! Do you see our dinner in front of us?? We told her just to give us the bill for the salad and the calamari. 10 mins. goes by, no bill. We were getting ready to leave and a server comes out with our food. This is almost 3 hours! We said we don't want it. The manager came out and gave us a lame excuse about a computer glitch. No apologies but did not charge us for anything During this whole time, everyone around us was receiving their food. We will NEVER go there again! read more
