Very unexpected cafe! Came here a few times for coffee. Ordered the tumeric drink the first time and the next the barista suggested using the lemonade base instead. This is so good! Highly recommend. Overall this is a great cafe but can get busy at times!

I stopped in here on my way home from work last night. I was excited to use my capital one card and get 50% off. The space is really clean and the folks working there are excited to be in the area. That being said, i hope it stays nice. They have 2 community rooms that can be reserved for free and people to discuss financial options with you if you want. The coffee/drinks/ setup is very much like starbucks- the drinks quality seems better but the food looks iffy. I just went by what i saw in the case and it was not appetizing. I didn't try any food but hopefully its decent! I want to try their avocado toast and ham and swiss croissant. The best thing they have is the 50% off if you use your capital one card- in this economy that's huge. I don't know if it's a temporary thing or permanent, but it's great!! Go check them out and welcome them to the neighborhood!!

As a Capital One cardholder, I love visiting their cafes, where drinks are always half off if you pay with one of their cards. I ordered their mint mocha with less syrup, which was delicious. For the holidays, they were giving out adorable knit cozies as pictured, as well as simple wooden ornament assembly kits, which were really cute. The staff were all very kind, and I was able to get my banking sorted out at the same time. The area in which it's located isn't the best, making it stand out as a bright spot in this plaza.

The best experience ever and the more of these locations they make, the more convenient it is to visit the bank.

First of all, the Bishop Arts District itself is incredibly charming. Block after block of unique shops ranging from bookstores and bakeries to candle shops, candy stores, coffee spots, and little boutiques. It's exactly the kind of neighborhood I loveeeee exploring while traveling and if I lived in Dallas, I'd probably frequent this area often. As for The Wild Detectives, the concept alone immediately appealed to me...bookstore meets cafe meets bar meets restaurant. That combination will pretty much always grab my attention. I love to read, I love to eat. The space has a pretty relaxed, community oriented vibe, and during my Saturday morning/early afternoon visit, there were plenty of people working, reading, chatting, and hanging out both inside and on the patio. My one slight disappointment was that the bookstore side itself was smaller than I expected and didn't have quite as extensive a selection as I had imagined. That said, I still managed to leave with a few great additions for my ever growing TBR pile. Overall, this was a worthwhile stop and one I may revisit the next time I'm in Dallas.

We were told they weren't making them at that time as "they were busy" and to pick something else like drip coffee. Perhaps they should advertise what drinks they'll make and when they feel like making them. The drinks we did get were ok but nothing special or standout and not worth the drive. It's a shame because they appear to be trying and we got excited from what we saw on social media but like everything on the internet it's all fake hype. Pastries: Absolutely disgusting. Dried out, flavorless, junk. Not sure where they get them from but they taste worse than day old grocery store pastries. We didnt try the vegan ones but they looked much better than the horrible regular ones we had. Parking: Very limited 3-4 spots. It's a super awkward tiny lot and a bit of a challenge. Aside from that the shop looks cute and nice to sit in.

Really made the experience more special! Overall, I loved this shop and wish I lived closer - I'd be here literally all the time!

I visited today after a friend highly recommended this place as somewhere great to eat and get work…read moredone. I came in planning to order food and a golden turmeric latte and spend some time working. When I walked in, there was a messy looking podium which turned out to be an unmanned hostess stand, but there were no signs or instructions indicating whether I should wait to be seated or order at the counter. I started walking toward the counter when a tall woman quickly stomped her way to block my entrance and demanded to know what I wanted. Then asked if I was dining in or ordering to go. The way she rushed over and her tone made me feel as though I had done something wrong just by walking in. The interaction felt unnecessarily aggressive and confrontational. I was so taken aback that I just ordered a golden latte to go. I felt embarrassed by how the situation was handled, especially in front of other customers. Any excitement I had about trying their food disappeared after that moment. And I was not allowed past the podium. I was basically by the door while I waited. Unfortunately, the interaction didn't improve from there. The barista handed me my drink while keeping noticeable distance, which added to the uncomfortable feeling as if I wasn't meant to move past the entrance area. As someone new to the neighborhood, the overall experience felt very unwelcoming. I even tried to lighten the situation by mentioning that a friend had recommended the place and that I was new to the area, but I was cut off mid-sentence. The drink itself was also disappointing. Compared to golden lattes I've had elsewhere, this one was very grainy and lacked flavor. It tasted more like hot water with sediment than a well-balanced turmeric drink. Given this experience, I don't plan to return. For a small café that wasn't busy at the time, the presence of a hostess-style setup without a hostess there felt unnecessary, and the customer service did not match the welcoming atmosphere I was hoping for. This is not a high end place and I was wearing a bouse, black pants, and dress shoes. So I'm not sure what that was.
