They advertised running the busses at noon. 2 hours. 2 hours I waited for the first one to show up. I've been at the second stop waiting for another 2 hours. Almost 5 hours to get home. They keep their price low but you kind of get what you pay for as far as relying on it for work. Some busses seem to be more efficient than others. You see 20 and 7 and all the rapid lines running efficiently but other busses like bus 10. Unless I plan to leave extra early, I just can't rely on route 10. I live right off of East Riverside Dr so it's so convenient to hop on the #20 bus that goes straight to the airport, my place of employment, in 20 minutes or less. On many occasions, I see many travelers with their luggage take advantage of the inexpensive alternative transport to the airport, $1.25 for one way and $2.50 for a 24 hour pass. I have also noticed that the punctuality has improved immensely. I have never use the rail service but I have friends in Cedar Park and Leander that take advantage of the service to venture into Austin for delectable delights and beverages with authority. read more

Worst Metro service in the USA! CapMetro seriously need to step up their game and better their service and schedules! Just today, many people waiting at the Lakeline Station for the 7:48am metro just to find out the schedule has been changed and we needed to wait another hour for the next one! WTH! App didn't show this "update" nor a notification was sent since many of us where there waiting. What's more, the drivers didn't even know anything! They were being asked what had happened just to hear them saying: "We are just the driver, we don't know anything". How do you not know anything about an updated schedule if you are the one driving the freaking metro?! Y'all service and schedules sucks! And you are wondering why people are not using the Metro? What happened to capmetro? It was great before covid. After covid, it has gotten worse. They removed pictures of stop id's from the trip planner, multiple cancellations, and rude drivers. There were 4 people at the stop, including me, and the driver said she wasn't taking people anymore, despite the bus being half empty. WTF? read more

No stars deserved for this service, any visitor who has used public transit in a comparable city will be shocked at how bad our system can be. Even after attempting to use GPS tracking and app reporting for buses, they are regularly inaccurate. You cannot rely on this system, and it barely connects centralized areas, do not expect it to help in the suburbs or outskirts of Austin. read more

This review is for the SCHEDULERS/DISPATCHERS for MetroAccess: HORRIBLE. They give you a 30 minute pick up window. If you're not ready and waiting, they give you 5 minutes and leave. BUT, THEY can schedule so many rides that they arrive LATE on a regular basis - but THAT'S okay. Right now they're running 33 minutes AFTER the closing of my window. Un reliable, phantom busses that never come, rude and demanding drivers, homeless people who smell of pee and harass others on the metro, filthy as if they haven't been cleaned in years, inconsistent always either 10 minutes early or 15 minutes late but never on time, app does not work, needs more busses on routes and leases on the rapid as no one ever uses the rapid. I got hit by a cap metro bus in September. My car was parked and the bus driver claimed my car was "sticking too far out" so it was my fault. Now he's lying to my insurance and telling them I backed into the bus even though I was parked in a legal parking space. He also told me the people on his bus were mentally unwell and homeless and wouldn't be able to help me prove my case with insurance. Unprofessional, rude, and completely disrespectful. My insurance still cant get ahold of Cap Metro to get them to admit fault. Do not recommend their services! read more

Cap metro. Going downtown during an event weekend? Stay home. Headed to walmart? Cap metro. You get the idea. Riding the bus is usually a nonchallant casual transit. Although on occassion the keep it WEIRD austinites do get on your bus, and it either gets fun, funny, or awkward. But still a convenient and cheap ride. I love taking the bus.. sure the experience can be a bit crass at times, sure you see people from all walks of life, but I love taking the bus. Riding the bus for me is like an adventure. I've even gone as far as to ride the night owl back from downtown at 3am. I've ridden the bus from north to south and east to west. Sometimes you get a bus driver who is a jerk sometimes you get a nice bus driver. It could go either way. I hear cap metro doesn't pay them very well so If I were a bus driver and being under payed I'd probably be crank also. The bus system here in Austin works so well that you can survive without a car if you want to. I'll gladly give that four stars any time! read more

Wow. I'm surprised at the low reviews this gets. Ever since I got to Austin I took the Airport Flyer Route 100 from the airport to downtown Austin for $1. I don't think anywhere else in the world can you get out of an airport to a destination for a buck. Add another dollar and you can get a day pass. I took advantage of that and rode the 1L and 1M line down Congress to go to Home Slice Pizza from my hotel (W Austin). The airport flyer was right on time but the other local busses were questionable. You kind of have to just wait +5-10 extra mins for the bus. I take the bus regularly in Los Angeles (yeah surprise) and this bus reminded me a lot of back home. I would definitely recommend looking into Public Transportation here in Austin. read more

Took the Airport Flyer #100. $1 to get to the airport is a great deal. Unfortunately the ride took longer than it was supposed to... Not sure why. Cap Metro has so much potential to make Austin a better place to live. The traffic in Austin is awful, as I'm sure you've noticed by now. There's plenty of opportunity to serve the citizens of Austin, and make this place a really progressive place to live with mass transit. However, Cap Metro doesn't pull it off very well. There's a dearth of transit stations, and the buses don't run very often/late with many good routes. The transit centers that they do have are nice, but need access to other forms of transportation from there. It'd be nice if they teamed up with the bike rental guys and tried to work something out between them. A really nice thing about the buses here though is that they're cheap! You can get a discounted full day pass, or a transit for a few extra nickles. Cap Metro has teamed up with Google Transit to tell you the bus schedules, but they don't let you know if the bus is running late, unlike some other major cities' mass transit systems. read more

What a absolute joke of a public transportation system. I've lived in many "cities" if you can really call Austin a city, and CapMetro is by far and away the worst transportation system ever imagined. They are constantly cutting service, buses don't keep consistent schedules, the buses are dirty and unregulated. I've never felt unsafe on a bus until I started using CapMetro. I'll be waiting for the "Rapid" 803 (surely they call it Rapid in jest because it's anything but rapid) at Republic Square, there will be 8 801 buses in a row arriving at the same stop and 45 minutes later an 803 will finally roll up, packed to the gills with people, when the 803 and 801 are supposed to have the same frequency. CapMetro is deplorable. I guess I'll start driving and contribute to the traffic problem. read more

The Rail...Really. A poor excuse for a pub transportation option. The rail machines ONLY take cash or pre-paid cards, the app sucks and when the machines are working some of them take cash and some don't. Credit cards are obviously too advanced for the machines so we're a 3rd world country now and the machines are expensive bill collectors. All stops are same price so if you get on at Leander or Plaza Satillo, it still cost the same. Such a joke. Tonight we tried to use the app to go downtown, bought two day passes $14... the app asked about storing them on the phone instead of the cloud.. ok, then I activated what I thought were both passes. I had some serious explaining to do when the fare checker came around, plus being embarrassed that only 1 ticket validated and the other was somehow tied/locked to a phone we haven't had in 4 months. He let me off on a warning but I was pi$$ed off. So on our return trip, since only 1 ticket activated, we purchased another day pass ticket with cash (got a paper ticket!) and guess what... when we got on the train, all of a sudden the app decided we really did have two paid day passes. It figured that out all on it's own. This. is. an. issue. I don't trust the app. I never know when a machine is up and what currency it takes. Cap Metro get your act together. read more

In my opinion the second, connecting bus should have at least a 5 minute waiting gap for the first bus to arrive. OMG we decided to take train to downtown for dinner with family. 25.00 + fees just to park on a city street, no meters just signs. Then it was 28.00 for the train ride. Going downtown was a very expensive trip. On the way back to Kramer, full of Austin FC fans. People we're drinking on the train, girls In front of us using a vape pipe and the blonde lady representing Cap metro announced she was not enforcing tickets for the ride to Kramer, but you need to have one for the ride back downtown as not everyone is as lenient as her. Oh yes ATX capital metro. I had a bit of a love hate relationship with this Transit system. Why!? It's because i did not rent a car when visiting the area. Austin is a nice city but it's a bit of a hassle for me because I was here in January before my school started. I love how students at UT ATX are cared for with their own division of bus services operated by the company. These buses don't shut down until I think around 12am ish. It's nice because I get easy access to some of the crazy food I don't find in California. Keep Austin weird. *lets out Texas pig call* I even found bus lines near all the good places that tourists go. Drawback: when street conditions suck due to people blocking the street it's hard to wait for a bus.
