Bring back route #100. Pretty please! The last time I arrived from the airport, I had to take route #20 to Downtown and then walk a mile to the rail station. Otherwise, the buses are nice and usually on schedule. I'm really looking forward to the blue line and the airport connection. I'll clearly rewrite my review when I get to ride the Metro Rail to the airport. read more

The worst company in Austin. It's a nightmare. From the constantly cancelled busses to the sexual harassment from drivers. Or their hatred. The awful combative customer service. The filthy people that get to ride for free. Yeah. If you look like you've been rolling around in the dirt. Hop on cap metro it's free. They always let these people ride free. I guess that's why we all get to start paying increased fare so normal people who actually work get to pay for these freeloaders. They advertise busses arriving 15 minutes apart. That's a joke. Easily waited an hour yesterday for a 20 to arrive. Also there's a new awesome thing happening. The fare boxes are very sensitive and they will take money out of your cards just walking by. I just woke up to a charge on my card. They told me it was a tap and pay but I never use that. I only use UMO. So beware if you walk by even without your Google wallet up it can charge you. I would call that theft. Awesome it wont let me add a photo of all the cancelled buses. Ive also been wanting to upload pictures of all the filthy trash cans. This company sucks so bad. If I could give it a million negative stars I would. read more

Capital Metro - Not uncommon to see busses heavily cancelled - Public Transportation Near Me - Austin, Texas

Took the metro from downtown trying to get to Lakeline. They booted 30 of us passengers of the tram at the Soccer field. They said they were transferring us to a bus for the rest of the ride. They didn't tell us that the bus was going to be sitting and waiting for 40 minutes until the soccer game finished. Had to catch a $25 UBER to complete my ride. Totally unacceptable!!!! This is by far the worst metro I have ever taken.......I would avoid it...definitely on evenings when Soccer is happening. Whoever is managing the schedule should be fired!!!!! read more

Took the red line from Leander to Downtown and back. What an incredible convenience to have! Clean, affordable, excellent service. Jeffrey on the 101 train was a fabulous customer service agent and a great asset to Capmetro. I will ride the red line again and look forward to the expansion of the services. read more

I live right off of East Riverside Dr so it's so convenient to hop on the #20 bus that goes straight to the airport, my place of employment, in 20 minutes or less. On many occasions, I see many travelers with their luggage take advantage of the inexpensive alternative transport to the airport, $1.25 for one way and $2.50 for a 24 hour pass. I have also noticed that the punctuality has improved immensely. I have never use the rail service but I have friends in Cedar Park and Leander that take advantage of the service to venture into Austin for delectable delights and beverages with authority. read more

They keep their price low but you kind of get what you pay for as far as relying on it for work. Some busses seem to be more efficient than others. You see 20 and 7 and all the rapid lines running efficiently but other busses like bus 10. Unless I plan to leave extra early, I just can't rely on route 10. Depends on the roads they're on I guess. read more

Worst Metro service in the USA! CapMetro seriously need to step up their game and better their service and schedules! Just today, many people waiting at the Lakeline Station for the 7:48am metro just to find out the schedule has been changed and we needed to wait another hour for the next one! WTH! App didn't show this "update" nor a notification was sent since many of us where there waiting. What's more, the drivers didn't even know anything! They were being asked what had happened just to hear them saying: "We are just the driver, we don't know anything". How do you not know anything about an updated schedule if you are the one driving the freaking metro?! Y'all service and schedules sucks! And you are wondering why people are not using the Metro? Well...this is one reason why...smh. read more

What a great way to get from Cedar Park to downtown! Super-air conditioned, super comfy, and super efficient!!

I have to upgrade it to 4 starts. After living in Austin since 2012, I reflect about my experience in ATX and realize that Cap Metro, though not 5 stars, makes my life awesome. I love public transportation. They also didn't raise fares during inflation! New app is great too! Good improvement over last app. Cap Metro has contributed to the exciting and stimulating things I have done in ATX, so I thank it read more

At 5:40 p.m. I tried to wave down a cat Metro bus at a designated stop while trying to get to the hospital and having a medical emergency. At this point I feel capital Metro is just a joke at this point no matter if I leave 2hrs prior now it's always some B's on the bus or the bus driver has an attitude or basically your not getting to where you need to get to even in a 30min time frame, most drivers have no regard for there riders when it comes to need to go get there kids on the bus it like a bus driver gets mad at one person and takes it out on the whole bus and then delays them causing irrational passengers dont want to hear apologizing we just want to get to our destination on time for once.. just too prove a point I'm stuck on a 300 now next to baseball field and the lake and we haven't moved 30ft in the last 10mins read more

This review is for the SCHEDULERS/DISPATCHERS for MetroAccess: HORRIBLE. They give you a 30 minute pick up window. If you're not ready and waiting, they give you 5 minutes and leave. BUT, THEY can schedule so many rides that they arrive LATE on a regular basis - but THAT'S okay. Right now they're running 33 minutes AFTER the closing of my window. I've waited over TWO HOURS. read more

No stars deserved for this service, any visitor who has used public transit in a comparable city will be shocked at how bad our system can be. Even after attempting to use GPS tracking and app reporting for buses, they are regularly inaccurate. You cannot rely on this system, and it barely connects centralized areas, do not expect it to help in the suburbs or outskirts of Austin. read more

Un reliable, phantom busses that never come, rude and demanding drivers, homeless people who smell of pee and harass others on the metro, filthy as if they haven't been cleaned in years, inconsistent always either 10 minutes early or 15 minutes late but never on time, app does not work, needs more busses on routes and leases on the rapid as no one ever uses the rapid. THIS REVIEW AND COPY OF EMAIL IS A DIRECT REFLECTION OF THE TYPE OF COMPANY YOU ARE RIDING WITH AND POTENTIALLY WORKING FOR. NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY THEIR SERVICE IS THE WAY IT IS. THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME KNOW MS. Angela Picnich of HR AND SAVING ME THE ENERGY...... Wow, I must admit that this is very disheartening that a well established workplace would function like this. You schedule a interview during a weekday, and cancel it on a Sunday as I am walking out of church services 2 days later. In the past, behavior like this has taught me that I would not have enjoyed working for a company where the HR department operates in a manner like this, so I see this as a blessing to a degree. Not only was this done on a Sunday 2 days later, you did not even attempt to have enough workplace decorum to professionally get back to me verbally. I understand why this position has been available for sometime now. I will do my best to share all of this information so other potential personnel see the type of communication and behavior they can expect upon hire. Nonetheless, Thank You Sincerely. read more

I got hit by a cap metro bus in September. My car was parked and the bus driver claimed my car was "sticking too far out" so it was my fault. Now he's lying to my insurance and telling them I backed into the bus even though I was parked in a legal parking space. He also told me the people on his bus were mentally unwell and homeless and wouldn't be able to help me prove my case with insurance. Unprofessional, rude, and completely disrespectful. My insurance still cant get ahold of Cap Metro to get them to admit fault. Do not recommend their services! read more

Capital Metro - Public Transportation Near Me - Austin, Texas

The absolute worst mass transit I have ever experienced. Really Austin, step into the 21st century. No one wants to be on mass transit here because it sucks. If you would have buses run more often than every 20 to 30 minutes, and if you could actually depend on it showing up, you might have more people using it. Not to mention the fact that it takes two and a half hours to get across town. Are you serious? read more

I love taking the bus.. sure the experience can be a bit crass at times, sure you see people from all walks of life, but I love taking the bus. Riding the bus for me is like an adventure. I've even gone as far as to ride the night owl back from downtown at 3am. I've ridden the bus from north to south and east to west. Sometimes you get a bus driver who is a jerk sometimes you get a nice bus driver. It could go either way. I hear cap metro doesn't pay them very well so If I were a bus driver and being under payed I'd probably be crank also. The bus system here in Austin works so well that you can survive without a car if you want to. I'll gladly give that four stars any time! read more

Wow. I'm surprised at the low reviews this gets. Ever since I got to Austin I took the Airport Flyer Route 100 from the airport to downtown Austin for $1. I don't think anywhere else in the world can you get out of an airport to a destination for a buck. Add another dollar and you can get a day pass. I took advantage of that and rode the 1L and 1M line down Congress to go to Home Slice Pizza from my hotel (W Austin). The airport flyer was right on time but the other local busses were questionable. You kind of have to just wait +5-10 extra mins for the bus. I take the bus regularly in Los Angeles (yeah surprise) and this bus reminded me a lot of back home. I would definitely recommend looking into Public Transportation here in Austin. read more

Capital metro ran me off the road. The cops determined the bus was at fault. This happened on a Wednesday and it's now Monday and still haven't supplied me with a rental car. Cap metro is dragging their feet. No surprises. Born and raised here for over 30 years and cap metro has always sucked in so many ways! Took the Airport Flyer #100. $1 to get to the airport is a great deal. Unfortunately the ride took longer than it was supposed to... Not sure why. Public transportation in the city still sucks. Not pleased that I pulled up to catch a bus and it pulled off rather than wait for me to get on even though they were still stopped. Cap Metro has so much potential to make Austin a better place to live. The traffic in Austin is awful, as I'm sure you've noticed by now. There's plenty of opportunity to serve the citizens of Austin, and make this place a really progressive place to live with mass transit. However, Cap Metro doesn't pull it off very well. There's a dearth of transit stations, and the buses don't run very often/late with many good routes. The transit centers that they do have are nice, but need access to other forms of transportation from there. It'd be nice if they teamed up with the bike rental guys and tried to work something out between them. A really nice thing about the buses here though is that they're cheap! You can get a discounted full day pass, or a transit for a few extra nickles. Cap Metro has teamed up with Google Transit to tell you the bus schedules, but they don't let you know if the bus is running late, unlike some other major cities' mass transit systems. read more

What a absolute joke of a public transportation system. I've lived in many "cities" if you can really call Austin a city, and CapMetro is by far and away the worst transportation system ever imagined. They are constantly cutting service, buses don't keep consistent schedules, the buses are dirty and unregulated. I've never felt unsafe on a bus until I started using CapMetro. I'll be waiting for the "Rapid" 803 (surely they call it Rapid in jest because it's anything but rapid) at Republic Square, there will be 8 801 buses in a row arriving at the same stop and 45 minutes later an 803 will finally roll up, packed to the gills with people, when the 803 and 801 are supposed to have the same frequency. CapMetro is deplorable. I guess I'll start driving and contribute to the traffic problem. read more

The Rail...Really. A poor excuse for a pub transportation option. The rail machines ONLY take cash or pre-paid cards, the app sucks and when the machines are working some of them take cash and some don't. Credit cards are obviously too advanced for the machines so we're a 3rd world country now and the machines are expensive bill collectors. All stops are same price so if you get on at Leander or Plaza Satillo, it still cost the same. Such a joke. Tonight we tried to use the app to go downtown, bought two day passes $14... the app asked about storing them on the phone instead of the cloud.. ok, then I activated what I thought were both passes. I had some serious explaining to do when the fare checker came around, plus being embarrassed that only 1 ticket validated and the other was somehow tied/locked to a phone we haven't had in 4 months. He let me off on a warning but I was pi$$ed off. So on our return trip, since only 1 ticket activated, we purchased another day pass ticket with cash (got a paper ticket!) and guess what... when we got on the train, all of a sudden the app decided we really did have two paid day passes. It figured that out all on it's own. This. is. an. issue. I don't trust the app. I never know when a machine is up and what currency it takes. Cap Metro get your act together. read more

The schedule to connect to another bus is absolutely terrible. I get off a bus only to see another bus that I'm supposed to get on, leave. OMG we decided to take train to downtown for dinner with family. 25.00 + fees just to park on a city street, no meters just signs. Then it was 28.00 for the train ride. Going downtown was a very expensive trip. On the way back to Kramer, full of Austin FC fans. People we're drinking on the train, girls In front of us using a vape pipe and the blonde lady representing Cap metro announced she was not enforcing tickets for the ride to Kramer, but you need to have one for the ride back downtown as not everyone is as lenient as her. I must say that this was the biggest shit show ever. I will never ever utilize the horrible service of Cap Metro. It is a joke. read more

Oh yes ATX capital metro. I had a bit of a love hate relationship with this Transit system. Why!? It's because i did not rent a car when visiting the area. Austin is a nice city but it's a bit of a hassle for me because I was here in January before my school started. I love how students at UT ATX are cared for with their own division of bus services operated by the company. These buses don't shut down until I think around 12am ish. It's nice because I get easy access to some of the crazy food I don't find in California. Keep Austin weird. *lets out Texas pig call* I even found bus lines near all the good places that tourists go. Drawback: when street conditions suck due to people blocking the street it's hard to wait for a bus. I was trying to get to the airport and had to wave a 100 bus down just so I can catch my connecting flight. There was the January 20 protest which scared the bus drivers away. read more

CapMetro's website said the bus I needed would depart my station at 5:29. I arrived at 5:20 and finally, at 5:47, the bus arrived. How can a bus be 18 minutes late on a route that claims to have service every 15 minutes at that time of day? Why would I ever rely on such an undependable transportation system! And don't get me started on our ridiculous train service which goes from nowhere near where I am to nowhere near where I want to go. And then there's the ticket machines that take cash only, but give change only in the form of vouchers, and don't work half the time. I'll continue to drive myself in my own car, thank you very much. read more
