We ordered a fried calamari and a picada. It tasted like it had been microwaved. The chicken was chewy and the fried calamari was soggy. I don't even have any pictures to post so that says a lot already. I went to this establishment for a friend's birthday party. Because she and I are close, she shared with me that she has been in conversation with the owner and even visited the restaurant more than twice to discuss the logistics. She booked this event around a month before the event was to take place. Her event was supposed to accommodate around 65 people, but they failed to do that properly. Because it was such a big party, she was told that she had to do a prefix dinner that included appetizers, the entrees, sides and pitchers of sangria and a tequila drink, buffet style. The event started at 7:30 pm and we weren't served appetizers till around 9:30 pm. On top of that, there wasn't even enough food to sufficiently accommodate the amount of people at the party. Dinner took another 3 hours to be served and again...not enough food. It was giving tapas style when it should have been a full meal. Additionally, they did not bring out the "pitchers" till several hours into the party and not enough to get around 65 people either. The quality of both the food and pitchers disappointed me because the description makes you feel like you are about to indulge in the best food of your life. They have a bar that ran out of glasses at around 9:30 pm. They also have a Dj, who was decent and serve hookah, which was also decent. It was clear that they were severely understaffed because the waiters seemed stressed and the guests, including the birthday girl at some point had to help serve the food which is BEYOND ridiculous. All and all, the birthday event was fun, but solely because of the people there and because we always make the best of everything. Unfortunately, though this was my first experience, this will also be my last. The lack of preparation for an event that was discussed a month ago tells me all I need to know. I hosted a very special friend of mine Birthday event here and I was extremely impressed by my experience, the place speaks for itself because it is well designed and gorgeous inside. The service leading up to the day from the time I booked the venue was impeccable. Every question I had was answered with details. The actual day of the event, the managers were helpful and accommodating, and the waiter that was in charge of our table, very experienced, SUPER friendly and was attentive the entire time. The food was delicious (the steak was my fav), the DJ was on point, he made my friend feel super special and the music was hitting. I came here for a private event as this was my first time being here I thought it was a spacious place. The bar barely had liquor on the shelves as this was a sign that they were not prepared for the event. They used all kinds of different size glass wear for some of the same drinks which didn't make much sense. It was a cash bar and when I ordered two drinks the guy disappeared and made my drinks under the bar. Of course I told him that he was not supposed to do that ever and my drink tasted like just juice my friend and I both agreed. Horrible establishment. I went there with my wife around brunch time . As I entered the restaurant there was a security guard checking Identification. I took out my wallet and the security guard noticed my law enforcement credentials. I took out my drivers license and handed it to the security guard . He then said that he needed to pat-frisk me prior to entering the restaurant. I explained that I was off duty and was carrying a personal protection firearm as I am legally allowed to in all fifty states . I was told by the security guard to leave my personal firearm in my car . I respectfully declined and honored the establishment request I not enter with my Legally personal protection firearm. Visited Capicu earlier this evening and everything was great besides the food service. Our party of 7 all ordered food and my food was the only one that they forget about. I understand that it was busy and they weren't able to prepare it fast enough but it's all about communication and letting the hungry customer know that it's going to take a little bit. What's worse was that I had to ask our waiter about the food because when everyone received their food, I had to ask the waiter about mine and so he told me that they were busy in the back and they're making it now. After reading the reviews for this place I really didn't know what to expect but it was surprisingly a good experience. We came to celebrate friend's birthday and we were about an hour late to our reservation but thankfully they were able to seat us. The main thing that stood out was the super fun vibe here, they have a DJ, hookah and it seems like everyone was celebrating a birthday. Our server and all of the staff we interacted with were very attentive and super friendly. To start we ordered the maduro and tostones montados, both were very good. I ordered the salmon al ajillo and it was a bit overcooked but still very tasty. My only complaint was that I was not a fan of the drinks, first I ordered the Isla Bonita and I didn't like it at all. I'm very picky about drinks in general so my expectations are higher than most. I was also not impressed with the mojito or margarita but it was better than the Isla Bonita. If I could rate this place 0 stars, I would. I went there on Friday night with my friend. We were excited to go there as it was our first time checking out this place. After the experience we had there, we will never return! If you want the most realistic review, brace yourselves because I will tell you everything that happened from the moment we stepped in through the doors until the event that led us to getting kicked out. When we got there, we were greeted by about 5 bouncers just hanging out while we showed them our IDs to get in. The vibe was great, the DJ was amazing. It seemed more like a lounge vibe without the dance floor instead of a typical restaurant. When we sat down, we were approached by the Hookah dude. We immediately ordered a Hookah. It was $40. It was horrible quality and it died quickly, and they don't do coal changes which then you would order a refill for $25. Extremely overpriced for a hookah that didn't even last. I've been to plenty of Hookah spots, and they always change the coal without even having to pay for a refill. When the waitress came to take our order, she immediately asked for a credit card which I thought was sus because you always pay when you ask for the check, not before. So, I gave her my card and we proceeded to order appetizers and a cocktail. The drinks were good, but the food tasted like they just heated it up in the microwave. We ordered wings, tacos and tostones. For a Latin American restaurant, I expected better. We ordered another round of cocktails after we ate and ordered a refill for the Hookah because it lasted like 20 mins, not even. My friend and I then went to go to the restroom because in all honesty, I felt nauseous. Now before I continue my story, just to let everyone know I'm the type of girl to drink tequila on the rocks and smoke Hookah all night and not feel queasy. At this point, we both had a drink and a half. After I used the restroom, I was washing my hands until suddenly, my legs gave out and I passed out. I thought I was going to have a seizure or something, but I couldn't get up. The bouncers had to come in and take me outside for some fresh air and drink some water. Now I don't have any underlying medical conditions and I'm perfectly healthy. What I experienced was scary! I asked my friend how long I was down, and she said about 10 mins. When my friend and I were outside while one of the bouncers was watching over me, the waitress came outside to have me sign for the check. We never asked for the check, and she swiped my card anyways. Which now it makes sense while I had to put my card down before we even ordered. Once I was starting to feel better and could walk on my own without assistance, we went back inside. They gave away our table without us finishing our drinks or smoking the hookah we just refilled. I was still trying to process what happened and my friend was asking the bouncers for a refund for the drinks we didn't finish and for the refill on the Hookah. They weren't budging. We were chilling by the bar, not drinking or anything because we refused to give them another cent when they basically stole our money. We were just vibing to the music, which honestly was the only good part of this place. Then suddenly, the bouncers asked us to leave. When I asked for the reason, they couldn't give us one. They just kept asking us to leave. At this point they were just going back and forth with us about leaving and we weren't budging. If they gave us our money back, we would have left peacefully. Since they didn't give us a reason, I told them if they want me to leave, they would have to pick me up and carry me out in which they did. I'm not a violent person at all, but that led me to kicking and screaming that I would never fucking go back there as I was being carried out for no good reason. Still arguing with the bouncer outside I told them it was their fault that I passed out and straight up accused them that I was drugged or something because I have never had that experience at all! The bouncer admitted that people pass out all the time! THAT IS NOT OK and the fact that he was so nonchalant about it, was even more sus. Clearly there's something wrong with this place and I'm surprised they're still in business. Even called the cops and he didn't even give us the time of day, just said we were cranky. I'm pretty sure the cop is a regular to be called there because the bouncers acted like they already knew him. I came here with about 10 people & they gave us a price per person being 45, 55, or 60. Soon to find out the food kinda tasted like old fish oil. While the waitress also forgot to give the deserts & she rushed to get us the flan after the bill. Then for the bill if y'all are concerned we anticipate a good 600 for the 45 dollar meal + drinks. Then soon to our surprise it came out to about 850 with gratuity being forced of 120 dollars for service we had to keep calling the waitress. First time we went there in a Saturday it was pretty empty, there were celebrating a wedding and a graduation. Still not much customers. The place is nice, the music is great. We went there again on a Wednesday after 6:30, the place was empty not ine single customer besides us. The waitress never gave us her name, didn't offer dessert, i never got my side order. By this time I should already be home. Not sure if this place is understaffed or what but they really need to get it together. Paying for food and dessert per person for the prefix menu and half the party already left without the rest of the food because it's so late. The food is way to bland and looks like something you can order at pollos Mario. The music is way to loud to talk or vibe with company or a date. If you're hungry prepare to wait for the food even longer. The food looks good but the taste isn't there. (almost 2 hours wait) the staff is way to young and unprofessional and definitely haven't been properly trained. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside it has been nicely remodeled but the location is in the hauppauge industrial area which isn't really to inviting. There isn't any windows or outside seating areas. This place operates basically as its predecessor which was night clubs back then with bad history of violence and it seems like it wants to get back to that badly. Just seems like a club where people eat at. There isn't any social distancing or mask rules really going on. I don't think I'd go back there for dinner. Very disappointed after second visit. First time I went with several friends and we had a great time. Seemed like a trendy place offering the NYC nighttime club restaurant scene but in LI. I thought this would be a great place to take the wife. Recommended it to her. Told her how great it was and mentioned we should bring our friends there. We made reservations this past Saturday. Bouncers only pat me down and let the wife through. No problem. We get there and the place was not packed. Still reservations didn't seem to matter, because they sat us at the bar area seats. Said they didn't have two seater tables, even though we literally watch them make a two seater table in the main area right in front of us. No problem. They want a card to hold, because even though we had reservations we are at the bar area seats and that's what they do. No problem. We order steak and lobster. They don't have lobster. On the weekend? That's a first. No problem. Substitute lobster with chicken. Hopefully they don't charge the steak and lobster price. More on that later. We decide appetizers and steak and lobster are enough for both us, so ask the waitress to cancel the fajita order. Waitress comes with steak, chicken and fajitas we asked her to cancel. No problem. We get the check. Oh look they charged us the steak and lobster price for the steak and chicken they gave us and they even include gratuity for just two people. Problem. Big problem actually. Low class. Makes the entire experience insulting and made for an embarrassing situation with my wife. I could look past all the other issues but now to charge gratuity? After second class treatment? Insulting. My wife is used to fine things and I treat her to nice dinners and tip extremely well. Matter of fact i left a nice tip on top of the gratuity as a thank you for letting us know you don't want us as customers. No problem. This just adds up to a bad experience for good tippers. read more
