I've been a big fan of Capella ever since it opened on 280. This one in Uptown is just as great. Had the Margherita pizza, and it was simple, fresh, and satisfying. The one thing I forgot about was the olive oil and tomato dipping sauces! I just hope this place has enough business in Uptown to stick around!

Another fabulous pizza from Capella Pizzeria Definitely worth every single bite of the pizza , nice and tasty and very light with the dough, fresh, and very hot . Looking forward to coming back again

Excellent Pizza, service, and atmosphere! Don't miss the Caprese Salad! Loved the Vespas inside too!

Clean, fast, and delicious. Added perk that it is kid friendly with great music and gelato. Will definitely add this spot into our rotation.

Mediocre pizza. Sausage was awful. Portions are giant. A personal can easily feed 3 people.

Wow. Love this pizza. Similar to Atlanta Napoli but nicer atmosphere. The side blue salad was great.

Pizza was pretty good. More Neopolitan than I care for but all in all, pretty decent slice.

Wooden City is located off Morris Avenue in a shared row of older buildings. There's a private parking lot behind the building, and you can have your parking ticket validated at the restaurant. The location and vibe on Morris Avenue are really neat and uniquely Birmingham. It's a great addition to the city's dining scene. Our party of four started with drinks and shared three appetizers: the Bread and Butter, Heirloom Tomatoes, and Steak Tartare. My favorite was the Bread and Butter. It's house-made focaccia served with a sun-dried tomato spread and an oil dipping sauce. The bread was amazing. For my entrée, I ordered the Peel-and-Eat Shrimp from the appetizer menu. It was fabulous--a generous portion of large shrimp that were perfectly seasoned and grilled. For dessert, we shared the Chocolate Mousse and Blueberry/Blackberry Crisp. The crisp was my favorite. It was served hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream--an excellent way to finish the meal. While Wooden City doesn't have a large menu, everything we tried was very well done. I definitely recommend giving it a try, but don't be in a hurry. The service was a little slow during our visit.

This place was recommended by a local Birminghammian and it was a good recommendation. Three of us…read morewere working somewhere nearby and we took an Uber here and it was kinda packed. We snagged some seats at the bar and had some drinks and shortly after that, our table was ready. And they were able to keep everything on one check, which was nice. No need to settle the tab and start a new one at the table. And the old fashioned I had was delicious. For food, we started with the Hungarian Hot Stuffed Peppers. These were pretty good and the heat gradually snuck up on you as you ate them. I don't know if it was because the heat was more intense as you worked your way towards the stem or just a gradual burn. Either way, these were good and worth the heartburn later. The thick focaccia helped with the burn a little. Speaking of heartburn, the pepperoni pizza may have contributed a bit to that too, but again, totally worth it. The cup-and-char pepperoni was charred nicely as were the edges and bottom! I love a nice bottom! These were easy to share between two of us. Service was amazing from the bartender to the waiter to the uber driver (who didn't really count, but nice job, man). We felt welcomed and I can see why the place was crowded on a Tuesday evening.

One could make an argument, and rightfully so, that pizza is not a dish requiring reinvention. Yet,…read morewe are humans, we cannot stop ourselves at the Neapolitan classic version, the iconic NYC slices nor the Chicago deep dish. Something within us, is tirelessly reinventing. Whether good or bad, someone else can decide. A real distinction of Pizza Grace is in its most fundamental element, and the aspect that one could argue to be the most important part of any pizza, period. Of course, that would be the crust. The crust here is created with wild yeast sourdough, called "Frank", resulting in a unique profile regardless of what later lands on top of the pizza. Let's pause here for just a second, is it not ridiculous having to wait 24-48 hours for the slow crust fermentation to happen? Apparently, the owners Chef Ryan Westover and his wife Helene didn't think so. Their signature pizza here is no less impressive either: topped with Louisiana crawfish, ricotta, Parmesan, mint and basil. It is a true star of the show. It's hard for most people to pinpoint exactly where they had the best pizza of their life, but this warehouse building in Alabama might just end up being that spot.

We came by here for a quick trip in between celebrating my birthday…read more The store is on Morris Street which still has the original road from the beginning of Birmingham. We really enjoyed our visit here and the food was so good! Something about enjoying pizza on sourdough just slaps right. The waitress we had was super kind and wished me happy birthday as well. Overall such a good experience.

Multiple people have raved about how good it is, and I've been meaning to try it for years. It's been around the corner from my job as long as I've been working there, but I'd always put it off or find some reason or other not to go. The entire experience was a ten out of ten. I was greeted as soon as I stepped foot into the restaurant. The bar is right in the front just past the host stand, and one of the bartenders welcomed me and handed me a menu to review for my order. She even offered me something to drink while I decided what I wanted. I looked up from the menu when I was ready to order and there she was, ready to take my order. I waited about 15 minutes for my food, and that was all. It was such a lovely experience. The whole vibe of the place was laid back and comforting. I felt relaxed as soon as I walked in and just having someone welcome me when I enter means the world to me. I was in a big hurry today, so I really appreciated the in and out service. Love love love this place! I ordered the small sriracha shrimp pie. It was absolutely delicious. The ingredients were fresh, and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. They weren't gummy and overcooked like I was afraid they'd be. A lot of places have trouble with shrimp because they cook so fast, but I was very satisfied with my order. Overall, I'm happy that I finally tried Pies & Pints.
