The food was amazing and for a great price! Small interior but we got a seat right away. Waitress had good suggestions. Also had great fresh snacks & desserts at the check out. Will be coming back

My first time here. All I can say is not to judge a book by its cover. Of course I would not recommend you go here at night unless you're familiar with the area. I will definitely be back here soon!!! It is awesome!

Food has always been amazing here! My family and I really enjoy their banh mi here, always fresh and delicious . Expect everything on the menu to be good! Owner has always been super sweet to us, she definitely remembers all of her guest. Parking is a bit tight since part of it has been bought out but don't let that deter you from showing your support.

Ordered a banh mi($4.50) with extra meat(+2). Got no extra meat but got charged extra. Service sucks, didn't come back to check on us about the food. The texture of the bread seemed like few days old. During check out told the lady there wasn't extra meat but she want to argue that she did put extra. The chicken rice plate was alright, slightly to drier side. Would I be back? No way....had so much better elsewhere

My mom and I decided to give this place a try since we were both in the mood for vermicelli and pho. At first, I missed the entrance because it looked like some apartments at first glance. The outside is interesting because yes, it's surrounded my apartments, but it's also connected with another business or two, so not too misleading. The inside is nice, clean and cold. We were the only ones inside, so seating was plenty. We got served by an older lady and gentleman. They were both very hospitable and welcoming. We ordered and the food came out super quick. I got the vermicelli bowl with charred pork and egg roll. My mom got the pho soup with a side of egg rolls. They brought out all the greens, bean sprouts and limes for the soup and some lettuce for the egg rolls. Everything tasted great. The meat in my bowl had an amazing flavor and the veggies were cold and fresh. My egg roll was chewy and soggy, not crispy or fresh tasting, so that was pretty disappointing. Overall, still very good and will definitely be back to try something different.

Great Banh mi. You can't beat their prices. It is my new go to spot when I am in the Houston area. .

This is a hidden gem for Vietnamese deliciousness. We go here so often that I pretty much tried everything. Their bánh canh cua, toasted bread with pâté and butter are our default dishes when we can't decide what to eat. Their desserts are amazing too.

I've found a true hidden gem based on other reviews! Everytime I go to Hobby airport, I'm always in search of something to eat before flying out. Finally, this is the answer to my prayers. After pulling up to a building that looks like an outdated apartment with bars on the windows, I knew this would have authentic vietnamese food! Inside was very small and casual, and we knew it was a small family-run business. We were seated immediately and orders were taken. I got the mi quang and my husband got the pho tai. The lady who took our orders and brought our food was a sweet lady who reminded me of my grandma. So the mi quang was AMAZING! Slightly on the sweeter side, however there was a ton of things in it and the flavor was on point. I want it again as I'm writing this review. The pho tai was also really tasty and the broth was cooked to perfection. They also had other vietnamese snacks, desserts and banh for sale up front. I will definitely be back here!!

I didn't really know what to expect when we pulled up to Cao Thang, but my friend swore by it. We walked inside the super small restaurant and took a seat at one of the few tables to our right. The workers greeted us with menus and served us some waters. The lemonade is sooo good. Great choice for something sweet and refreshing. We ordered the chicken banh mi. It tasted kind of like dried/dehydrated chicken. Not sure how to explain it. But the sandwich was 10/10. Perfect and affordable ($4.50). Iced tea is only 50 cents (WHAT). Its a very light tea. We also got the hot spring rolls and they were delicious. Sweet and savory. Overall I'd definitely come back.

There's everything that a deli should have. Eat in or take out, your choice. I had the deli platter which comes with a choice of tuna, egg, chopped liver, etc. along with some potato salad, coleslaw, tomato, cucumber, lettuce and caraway rye bread. It was tasty and well presented. Most at my table ordered the corned beef sandwich. There was a generous amount of corned beef and it looked like a good sandwich. Unfortunately, they don't have challah (egg bread) - just bagels and rye. A big miss from my perspective. The reason for 4 stars is that the prices are crazy high. Plan on spending a fortune. Upon arriving, every table was taken except our table w a reserved sign on it. The restaurant was bustling, but I could still hear my husband over the music and noise. The menu is huge!!! I didn't know where to start. But our server, Vanessa, helped us make a few choices. We started off w bánh xèo tostadas, bánh béo, & carpaccio. Then we had calamari and their steak special. I asked for a side of papaya slaw for some veggies. My favorite dish of the night was the carpaccio. So many flavors perfectly melded together. Loved the crunch of the fried onions and peanuts. 10/10 dish, in my opinion. Authentic banh xèo usually has an airier, crisp crepe, but theirs was more crunchy - great for their tostada take. Very flavorful. Each piece had one shrimp, but plenty of pork belly bites. The nuoc mam drizzled on it was tasty. Fried calamari - this is a big dish for, I believe, $'19. I prefer the dipping sauce on the side so that the batter doesn't get soggy. This did happen here, but it didn't stop us from finishing every last bite. The green sauce was good, not the usual dipping sauce for fried calamari. Steak special - they have another steak dish on their menu, but this one was pepper crusted w smashed potatoes. The potatoes were super crispy and flavorful and the steak was perfectly cooked - a beautiful pink medium rare. The portion was huge and justified the $39 price point. The staple steak dish came with a papaya slaw and I had to have it. It was bright and limey - I can see why they serve it with their steak. Bánh beo - my least favorite of the night. A bit thicker than I like. Still good, but there were a lot of other great dishes that I could easily pass on this one. Try their hibiscus artichoke tea.

Flavor was excellent, but the beef should be in smaller bites. 7.7/10. The stuffed crab pocket was unlike anything I have ever tried. Great seafood taste in the inside, crispy shell. 8.7/10. The tubs of ice filled with cold drinks all around as you approach the counter was casual and fun. And the staff was welcoming and friendly. The menu had so much variety, without being overwhelming. The pork was seasoned well and had good flavor from the marinade. The cilantro, pickled onions, jalapeno, all were so fresh and vibrant! And I was able to get homemade chips and fresh strawberries as my side - such a refreshing bite the strawberries after a rich, porky, spicy bite from the sandwich. Can't say enough good! A big part of the decades long success at Local Foods has been their commitment to consistency…read more Their casual setting with excellent service is one thing, but quality executed food that is simple and seasonal will always go a long way. Before their recent expansions to Austin, it all began here in Rice Village exactly 15 years ago. The vibes are contemporary and casual, with the kind of space that fits for just about any scenario. Whether it's a solo meal, a lunch date, or a group led affair, the experience is almost always an excellent one. Start by ordering at the counter and find a seat where the food will brought directly to the table. So much of their variety caters to all sorts of dietary restrictions from vegan to gluten free to nut free. Their spicy crispy brussels sprouts ($10) are a nice starter, as is the squash "onion" rings ($12). The local power bowl ($16) is a classic and I've always enjoyed the brown rice and quinoa combo. Their chicken "posolé" is solid, and I love the large hominy bits along with the clear but green tint of a broth. The chicken shawarma bowl ($20) is an interesting mix that includes pickled beets and strawberries, along with their market cheddar burger ($17) and fabulous twice cooked fries. The carrot cupcake is strangely addicting, and I think their gluten free brownie is a bit of a sleeper. Some of their items didn't jive with me previously, such as an underwhelming cashew queso ($9), a semi-laughable Vietnamese steak bowl ($22), and their semi-gringo version of a banh mi ($15). It's not that these items are bad per se, but they definitely don't live up to the same standard that I feel their other dishes do best. Where they hit the biggest home run is their customer service. Everyone working behind the counter does their best to deliver and they almost always do by staying on top of refills, cleanups, and customer greets. I've always enjoyed my experiences here and look forward to every visit.
