WOW!!! I've been on snowmobiling trips before but this by far did not compare. Was hesitant on going on another snowmobiling trip where you go single file and then get 20 minutes to play around in an open field. This was not that trip. Really got to have a fun adventure with this company, they really made our trip (snowboarding and skiing was great - but this topped it!) Jeb and Seb were awesome, enthusiastic about there job, and made this adventure a once in a lifetime experience. I have never experienced a guided adventure with people like them. We decided to do the 1 hour horse ride last minute and we are so glad we did. My kids 12 and 14 were nervous and all of the guys out there getting us ready were so kind with them, making sure to explain everything until they felt comfortable. While on the ride, our guide, Buckey, was great. He was talkative, friendly, and always making sure to check on the kids. Even kept encouraging them and telling them what naturals they were, which made them less nervous. Tara took us 10-12 miles into the backcountry and took some glade sledding side trips. She was amazing And super fun. She tried to teach me tip up the sled and didn't laugh when I fell off. I booked a trail ride for my family. In the email they sent at booking it noted age and weight requirements. I am well within both. However, when I called Canyon adventures to ask if it's okay that I am pregnant (which they did not mentioned on the phone or by e-mail), they both denied me participation, and worse yet, demanded I pay for all parties, and sit out alone and wait (I would have had to pay for my own ride as well). As the host, organizer, and transportation, it seems absurd that in order to recoup any of the cost I would have to drive my family 30 minutes to the outfitter, then sit alone for 3 hours. Anyways, I will be disputing any attempted charges with my bank but moreover, a warning to all, this company has TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and the cranky old lady on the phone was completely UNACCOMMODATING despite HER terrible communication and arguably discriminatory treatment. If you're looking for a horseback ride I would recommend Jakes over this place time and time again. While they wouldn't let pregnant person ride either, at least they didn't try to charge me/everyone in my party. read more

Myself and 4 other guys took a Bachelor trip to Big Sky and it Absolutely the best part of our trip! They have boots, helmets, goggles, etc. if you don't have the gear, to rent. If you haven't been snowmobiling in those mountains, you definitely need a guide!! You will not have the best experience if you don't have a guide. You will definitely get stuck and probably lost unless you've been riding on those trails before. We had Jeb and the guy was freaking awesome! Definitely money well spent! We did the full day trip. We got stuck several times and was right there to help get us out. He taught us how to ride in deeper powder and climb hills and took us all over the mountain. We would not have seen or done half of what we did without him! Lastly, bring snacks and waters, you'll want them. Definitely recommend doing this trip to anyone! read more

Called the day before and booked a guided 1/2 day trip. FroM the time we walked in the entire staff couldn't have been more helpful. Rented helmets, boots and googles, and snow suits + the snowmobile rental. Our guide Hatter was nothing but helpful and very knowledgeable of the mountain. One of the snowmobiles broke down half way through the trip - Hatter build us a small fire while the staff brought out a new sled to use. We saw wildlife and had some big open areas to go fast. I definitely would recommend renting and using a guided tour from here. read more

Not a very professional business. The owner has an attitude that should preclude him from interacting with the public. I would not recommend this place. Had to pay $200.00 for a bent door on my kids UTV. Not upset about that except no real instruction on how to operate the doors and confirm they were in working order before we took it out. When I tried to discuss this with Ed the owner, he cursed at me and walked off. Because I was not sure if my kids did the damage, I paid the fee. When I asked to see the parts costs, he became enraged again and threatened that I would now pay labor. I could have walked out and disputed the entire charge on my credit card but decided to do the honorable thing. I plan to discuss with management of Big Sky Resort and recommend they be removed from their recommended list as they are NOT customer oriented. I further plan to lodge a complaint with his Gallatin Outfitter licensing authority. Beware of this business and it's unethical owner. read more

There were two young men (Trey and the other young man) who were very kind. We buried the snowmobiles in deep snow and when we called for help they hung up on us- other folks came to our assistance! When we returned the snow mobiles Elizabeth quickly said, in her snarky tone, "I told you so" So what we say ... drive to west Yellowstone and rent there - sights are beautiful and the people really care about you having a great experience - and to Trey and the other young man - I'd suggest you align with a company who shares your desire to serve! I highly recommend renting side-by-sides. The vehicles are well-maintained, easy to drive and a fantastic way to access incredible views. I would never provide a negative review unless it was especially terrible....and our experience with Canyon Adventures was. Literally the second we walked in, we were spoken down to and belittled for asking questions. Our kids were treated terribly- one of the owners yelled at my nephew for looking at the ATV and told him to get out of the way because he wasn't driving. They also yelled at my husband for not listening to their safety talk (and he was listening). Overall, our group spent close to $1500 here- what a mistake. These people clearly have no clue on how to run a business. Such a huge disappointment and completely unacceptable. The review left recently by Maya was exactly our experience as well (although if the owner had pushed one of my kids we would have had serious problems). This business model is terrifying. They are counting on you never returning. From the moment we entered the doors, we were belittled and treated terribly. My eight year old son was treated like he wasn't a human. He was told multiple times to shut up by Ed "the owner". My 4 year old was pushed down by Ed as he started "I'm only talking to adults". I almost have this place a 2 as a review because the ATVs work great and the trail was beautiful. When we returned, Ed decided to scream at my wife and would not stop until she was crying. Had a fun time driving the 4x4 and the initial man who set us up was very nice. I had an accident and tipped the vehicle, I paid $1096 to fix it and they were very rude and condescending about the situation. Telling me that they could charge my card all day long and have no issue. I told the man at the desk that I tipped the 4x4 after the trip and was treated very poorly afterwards. I understand wanting to protect your business and merchandise, but don't be rude after you charge someone $1000, for an accident. Again I understand charging a fee for the expense but it was the attitude and poor response from the staff that will dissuade me from recommending the to others. read more

First time ever snowmobiling and had a great time going with Canyon Adventures. Owner Ed was very accommodating and gave great candid advice on gear needed for the tour. Guide Matt knew his stuff and was always there to provide encouragement and advice for a newbie. I was very nervous about snowmobiling but the start of the tour gives you a chance to get familiar before the full trail and deep snow starts. Great experience for a first timer. Snowmobiles worked perfectly, and the riding gear/clothing provided was both perfect and well maintained. All you need to do is show up with a bit of warm clothes and everything else is available. The trails were both challenging and very beautiful. I would go with Canyon Adventures again. read more

We had a group of 9. Faster guys, medium riders and 2 parents with little ones. They had everything we couldve needed at the place if we needed it. We did the half day tour with 2 guides(Mark & other great guy). Half day was plenty because it was cold and windy up in the play area. So happy for the hand warmers in the snow mobiles. The guides were awesome and so glad we had them. Most of us got buried or tipped over or went into trees at some point while playing. So happy for the guides, it isnt easy to get them free. For anyone that gave bad reviews probably didnt have the guides. They dont hold you back or make you go slow if you want to go out and have fun. But they will get you to the good areas and help you get back. It would be very easy to get lost if you dont know where you are going. Have an amazing time! Thank you!! read more

Had so much fun riding Juno this morning. I've always been a little nervous around horses but within minutes Kristy had me feeling confident. Both guides were awesome to hang out with for a few hours and the ride itself was amazing. I never thought I'd be riding a horse up mountains and through meadows. We even crossed a river which was incredible. I got to see montana from a different perspective. I'd totally go back and recommend Kristy and Jessica. You'd be an idiot to use another service. Half day guided snowmobile tour with husband and two kids was such fun! Our first time snowmobiling, and I definitely would recommend using a guide. In addition to helping us out of sticky situations (flipping over, getting stuck) Trey gave us a lot of information on the area. The equipment was in great condition. We rented boots (so glad!! Ours would not have been warm enough). We did use our own goggles, ski wear and helmet which was sufficient. Definitely try this outfitter for a great adventure! read more

This place absolutely met and exceeded expectations! Brand new sleds and excellent people. The guides are great especially Cole! This is THE place to rent sleds from if you're out here. 10 of 10 would recommend and do again. I couldn't believe how much fun we had even if snowy windy conditions it was incredible. The machines are all brand new or very close to it, the guides are super knowledgeable and friendly. Was just like going snowmobiling with your friends but with someone to help you navigate, take you to best places and help you out when you're in a sticky spot or get your sled stuck. This will be a yearly tradition from here on out when I'm out in Big Sky. Also during the summer they rent quads and such which I would assume are up to the same high standards of their sleds. My family and I decided to go horseback riding and this place was close by on our trip to Big Sky. The location and scenery were fantastic. The staff were friendly however they did not explain their policies very well. You are not allowed to bring a go pro camera that is mounted. I set up my camera on a head mount in front of staff in the office, adjusted settings and began recording some video. We were instructed that backpacks and phones had to be put away in the saddles. After putting our stuff away in our vehicle and getting ready to get on the horses I was told I could not bring the go pro camera. I told them it was securely attached (which is the basis of the entire go pro system) however they did not let me take it but said I could place it in the saddle. I expressed my dissatisfaction but they stated it was their policy. They were very professional and we continued to mount the horses. The saddle for my horse was a little long for my height and I was told by Oliver (one of our guides) that it might be too short. However, Maddy (the other guide) said it should be fine. I expressed that it was a bit long and I was not comfortable. They asked me to try it out and if I was uncomfortable later, we could find a solution. Shortly after starting our ride, I did not feel comfortable. I expressed my concerns to Maddy who brushed me off and said it was fine and that "horse back riding is not supposed to be comfortable." I have been riding 6 other times and this was never an issue. After several minutes of riding, I expressed my concern to her again and her reply was that they don't have any more saddles. A horse rental place doesn't have extra saddles to correctly size their riders? After several more minutes of riding I offered a solution to Maddy which was to switch horses. She ignored me. Finally, I was able to tell Oliver who was further back on the trail that I needed to switch horses. After the swap everything was great. The trail is beautiful and you get a bit of elevation gain. You also get to experience crossing a river twice. One of their horses "junior" decided to go off trail and did not want to climb up the trail. They had to put a rope on him to keep him on trail for a while. He later decided he wanted to go into a tree. Luckily my head didn't hit a branch but I got scratched up by branches. We were told he has been acting up the last two weeks and they apologized. I recommend they don't use horses that have been demonstrating behaviors that are potentially unsafe for riders. If you get him, be prepared. Overall: I would recommend this place. Don't bring a go pro. Don't agree to a saddle that's not fitted properly and hopefully junior will be back to his normal self. read more

Owners were very rude and obnoxious. Rented their ATV's and got stuck on the mountain with one and overheated on an another. Called and asked for help and they said it would be a while and hung up on me. Both the owners Ed and Cathy yelled at my husband when he simply asked to make a suggestion to give better instructions on avoiding mud and other things on the trail. Avoid at all costs, you can easily rent other ATVs or do horseback rides from many other much more reputable companies in Big Sky Bozeman or West Yellowstone. read more
