What a great time for all our family and friends, come and go as we please to the park, fishing yellowstone river, horseback riding and zip lining right next door over a hill. There are restored family homestead log cabins down on the creek below the lodge which you don't see. They are all nice, clean, comfortable, cozy beds, trampolines for good exercise after being in the car, lots of room for the kids to run, the dogs, cats, and horses all love the attention, very friendly. The buffalo weren't brought back to the ranch yet because of the wolf activity and owner says wolves haven't bothered the horses too much, must prefer elk & buffalo meat over horse. Us too. It's a maintained mountain road with a stunning creek with lots of water/rock action that runs the whole way. Animals in the way at bottom of road, elk came in early morning to deal with their hidden babies, don't try to take one of these babies home, leave them alone for their mama to come back for them. Loved loved loved it.

It is in Emigrant a small town that boasts a great bakery and great BBQ in the warm season. To get to and from the Cabin you drive through the Chico Hot Springs Resort. In addition to hot springs Chico has a riding stable and adventure company for white water, scenic floats and hiking. This is nice if you don't want to drive to Gardiner some days. There is also a nice hike to a falls just up the road from the cabin. The cabin itself was excellent. We were there on some hot days and the cabin stayed cool if you closed the blinds as instructed. There was a full kitchen and while fussy cook husband might have wanted sharper knives for prep work he managed to make some fine meals. He also used the charcoal grill but the black flies were thick in the heat. Better him than me! Happily the long porch facing the stream is fully screened. No biting things there. The porch had a casual dining table and glider bench. The cabin had two bedrooms and one and a half baths. The half bath was in a utility room which included a washer and dryer. Priceless! There was also a comfy living room with two sofas and a glider chair. We never used the TV but it was there too. The cabin had wifi thankfully because there wasn't much cell reception. Basically it was a great place to get away, listen to the creek at night and relax.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom, 1 bath "Creekside" cottage and I believe it was just $220/night! The super 8 motel down the street charges $250/room. There is a front and back porch. We initially struggled a bit to spot the garbage disposal box.

The cabin also has a full sized washer and dryer, which was very convenient. The WIFI was available, but I have to say it is not very fast. Considering the location, this was not too surprising. There were no problems with billing, or unexpected charges. Overall a great choice for a large party, I highly recommend this location!

They had an AC team come in and although they couldn't fix the unit while we were there, they had a portable unit installed to take care of the immediate issue. And more importantly, Manu, the manager, worked to reach an acceptable arrangement to cover our discomfort. It is located in a spot that is completely wooded yet you have incredible views of the surrounding mountains. We saw moose, deer (within 10 feet of our cabin porch) and birds we had never seen before! Each morning started out with coffee on the cabin porch where we lingered just appreciating the woods and the wildlife. It thundered and rained nearly every day but for short times, so that no plans were spoiled. Billie and Heather were very helpful and informative throughout the reservation making process. They have great communication and put our minds at ease. They wait to tell you which trail you'll be taking until about a week before your ride. I booked a half day private ride for my daughters and I. We met up at the trailhead with no problems and got to see and experience a part of Yellowstone most people don't get to see if they don't venture out. Jimmy was our guide and he was absolutely fantastic! He and I were chatting most of the time but he also was really engaged with my daughters as well. I rode Hoofy, my oldest rode Star, and my youngest rode Trigger. The horses were great! We enjoyed the trail, crossing through water a couple times, resting out by Grizzly Lake, and then heading back to where we started. We got to trot quite a bit too!
