There was not one closet, drawer, shelf, hook, cubbyhole, rack, hanger or space to put our belongings. Although we had booked "The Schoolhouse" for one week, we were vacationing in Montana for nine weeks and we had a carload of baggage. So we would have been forced to live out of suitcases, and to line every square inch of limited floor space with bags. The result-- a hazardous obstacle course, problematic for 72 year-olds navigating frequent nightly bathroom trips, and recovering (husband) from recent knee replacement surgery. Immediately, we attempted to contact Sarah, the owner, who was out-of-town and inaccessible by phone. We spoke to Larissa, Caretaker, who was sympathetic but had no authority to do anything. In addition, we found "The Schoolhouse" depressing. It is a cluster of shacks/"cabins" in a run-down area, facing a yard with (what looked like) rusting farm equipment. Ultimately, we opted to leave the cabin out of safety concerns. Four days later, we finally heard from Sarah. She fired off a hostile email snapping-- no refund, caveat emptor. We lost $1800, but learned a painful lesson at "The Schoolhouse." Don't stay in school! We give this rental an F.

See the park all day, or hiking the local trails, head back for a soak at Chico Hot Springs, and a nice meal there, or cook up your own freshly caught trout on the grill on the spacious back deck, you are set! We have stayed many times, and it is a quiet setting in an old mining village. And the stars at night have never been so brilliant! You'll love it!! We do!! The space is comfortable and we didn't feel crowded in even with every table occupied. We came back another time to get takeout and were surprised they didn't offer that as an option. They were able to seat several tables of 2, but we were a party of 3 and a baby so I guess that's difficult here. We decided to go elsewhere and would try to come back here another day. The host recommended we try to come before 530 cause they get really busy after that. We ended up coming the following day for a late lunch. It was a whole different experience and vibe. The (same) host seemed way more relaxed probably cause they were close to closing for their mid day break and it wasn't busy at all. I Our server was attentive and the food was great. We were able to get a chicken breast and French fries for my 1 year old baby (who has a bland and picky palate). This makes mom happy. I had the best salad with chicken. Fantastic! Husband had the bison pork sausage sandwich, he loved it. Mother in law had the Mac n cheese, she also enjoyed it. The wonderland beer was great, definitely recommend it especially since it's made specifically for the restaurant. If you're a part of more than 2 people it's probably best to go early in the day like we were told. I'd definitely eat here again if we come back to the area.

I've never fly fished in my life (TBH, I rarely even FISH). So when I learned our 2022 corporate…read moreleadership trip would be a 3-night fly fishing excursion on Montana's Madison River, I was honestly skeptical. But not did I learn how to cast a fly (and land a Trout!), but my visit to Madison Valley Ranch ended up being one of the best trips I've ever taken. From the moment you walk in the door, the ranch rolls out the red carpet. After being welcomed with a cold draft beer and tour of the property, we settled into our very comfortable guest rooms to unwind before dinner. Whether you plan to fly fish or not, the entire ranch is designed to make you feel at ease, and at home -- from the incredible back porch views to the outrageously good dishes served up at every meal. Manu and her team take customer service to a new level, from equipping you for an incredible day on the river to selecting the perfect bottle of Cabernet to pair with your dinner. No detail is too small for them, and no request goes unmet. The accommodations are as comfortable as any 4-star hotel, the meals as delicious as any gourmet restaurant, and the views as beautiful as a slice of heaven. And with ample meeting space for corporate groups, its the perfect setting for a team-building escape. I simply can't say enough about Madison Valley Ranch -- whether you're an experienced fisherman or just learning to cast a fly, it's hard to imagine a better place in America to put your rod into the river.

Seriously, Elizabeth is like a your favorite sister who is so happy that you've finally come home. The food is serious gourmet... As good as some of the best restaurants in Denver, San Francisco, DALLAS, NY and ect. Scott, the executive chef has serious chops and makes excellent use of natural organic and wild game ingredients. But let's not forget the fishing. Actually, the fishing sucks and no one should ever even think about putting a line in the water around here. That's right...these ARE NOT THE DROIDS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR...
