There is simply nothing like it around. I was a solo traveler (33F) from NY never having been to MT or out west - reading reviews online I liked that the ranch didn't seem to be like a "mill" and looked like more of an individualized experience & boy was everyone right. I was immediately put at ease before I even booked when I called the ranch and Melissa spoke with me right away answering all of my questions - she is extremely knowledgeable, responsive & informative. Upon booking she sent a bunch of information for packing/activities/etc. - there were absolutely no surprises and I felt very prepared for the trip & of what to expect - if you miss something it's because you didn't read it carefully & that's on you! My cabin immediately felt like home - it was cozy, clean, and beautifully decorated. There is so much charm to the ranch. Every meal was better than the next. Melissa, Kurt, & the wranglers are the real deal - they know the country better than the back of their hand & I was so impressed by them all. Having never experienced this kind of country I quickly went from being apprehensive to eager to go out every day and explore simply because of how at ease the wranglers made me feel. Kurt & Melissa have a real talent for reading horses & people and paired everyone PERFECTLY with their horses for the week as well as the group I rode with. I have never seen better cared for/happier horses in all my years of riding - I don't even want to say my horse's name here (& I won't) because I selfishly want her for the next time I go but she was really just such a great horse. There are not enough words or space in this review to say how much I loved this ranch and how much I appreciated the kindness and warmth Melissa, Kurt, their 2 boys, the guests, animals, and the entire staff of the CWR showed me. Our trip to Montana was amazing, and the first evening started with stay here. Ms Nance and Richard are such warm hosts. At breakfast they are a fountain of information about Gardiner and the Park. Breakfast was a wide array of delicious choices, and Ms Nance is quick to adapt to your tastes if you stayed multiple nights. But Pro-Tip, tell her ahead of time if you have a particular want. We had a private room with a bathroom. It was very comfortable and warm. Especially considering it was below zero at the time. They also leave out tea and snacks downstairs, so We enjoyed a cup of hot tea as we warmed up from our walk. Location! This wonderful home couldn't be closer to the park entrance. As well, they are walking distance to the local restaurants. It was the start of winter so I didn't get a chance to take advantage of fly fishing, but Richard owns Parks Fly Shop, just around the corner. Book a stay here! You will love it!

I had originally wanted to do their 2.5 hour trail flower ride but it booked up before I had the chance to reserve so I ended up booking just the hour 'trail ride'. It was really nice that all the horses were saddled and ready to go when we arrived. They were careful to pair us with a horse that matched each of our skills and temperament. The 'trail ride' was beautiful ride up a small mountain if you will and then back down through a little valley to the stable. It was pretty short but for $50/person, I honestly did not expect more. It was a great price point to experience the horses and see the stunning views from a 360 perspective for an hour. Pro tip: Book early for the longer ride!

If you are used to camping this is truly luxurious as it takes glamping to a new level and the setting/backdrop here is really pretty spectacular. Even if you aren't that into nature, there's something resetting and unique about the Under Canvas experience. I like the daily activities that they have and it would definitely be a great spot for families. The amenities include a s'more's bar, coffee/tea/hot cocoa, fire pits (enough for each party really to have their own if they don't want to share), a variety of board games, and unlike the West Yellowstone location, they also make daily fruit/veggie infused water which I liked. If you know how to use a telescope you can stargaze at night but it would be nice if someone there could help people as they weren't available for our visit. It's also nice that they do daily yoga but I wish we had known this was just on the weekend. On the other hand, since many people including us head into Yellowstone and given the distance to get there, it would have been hard to make anyway. Still, there's so much to do and see in Paradise Valley itself (with plenty of nature and hikes much closer than Yellowstone) that I'd recommend if you are coming here to visit Yellowstone, to consider making it it's own trip if you have the time. They also use dynamic pricing here so if you can book earlier you might save some money. We did not use the stargazer tent which might be worth the extra cost if you get a clear night but again a question of budget. It is very expensive to stay here anytime near/around high-season but at the same time, the logistics involved with running this operation must be expensive. The tents are also super comfortable with really comfortable beds. Shower is more rudimentary but given the environment and the fact that you have your own private shower and that it gives you warm water for a short period of time, it's pretty special. We'll have to budget it but we would like to come back with the kids and do this in another one of their locations.

We had an excellent patio with a view of the snow drizzled mountains as well as a cattle ranch below. Surprisingly the cows were good neighbors, not very noisy, and even though they could smell us, but we could not smell them :) The cabin itself was a lovely two story sanctuary, decorated with leather sofas, cow hides, and hardwood floors. The kitchen and bathroom sinks were copper and tasteful. The site also has laundry. However, if you stay in the cabins there is no breakfast in the morning. The site provided seclusion and a breathtaking setting, it ensured our satisfaction from the very beginning.

I did not have reservations anywhere, nor thought I'd need any, when I exited the park at about 9:30 p.m., at the northern entrance to the park (next to Gardiner). However, much to my chagrin, not a single room was available ANYWHERE! So, I frantically called every place on Yelp, and I even got a hotel list from the owner of a local motel. Finally, I spoke with Carol Reed (and I woke her up, I might add), and she had an opening because a guest had canceled. Long story short, I arrived and was thrilled to find carol waiting for me, and an excellent room to sleep in. I awoke the next morning to the warm aroma of coffee upstairs, and I arrived at the table to greet a feast. Great breakfast, and even greater conversation with the owners! I really appreciated all they did for me, and the stay was incredible. Last but not least, we watched Osprey's flying around their backyard, with a huge mountain range in the backdrop. Quite an experience!

All the lights need to be turned on manually, and even when they are all on it still seems dark. There are no black out shades....so, boom, you get to wake up to full light...no sleeping in here. Every tithe neighbors close the door it makes a slamming noise that goes straight to your bones. Small television inside a wooden cabinet. The shower has some kind of cheese cloth curtain that absorbs then drops all the water on the ground, leaving puddles behind. The bathroom even has a sign telling you to put a towel on the ground. Long story short, updates are needed. I won't go through all the shortcomings of this place, I'll just say it seems a bit expensive for what you get. On the bright side the reception people are very nice and the morning continental breakfast us good enough. It's within walking distance of local restaurants. Last thing I need to say...don't even look at the hot spa on the side of the building.

I got a first floor room that was easy to access and parking was right in front of the hotel. There is also a complimentary breakfast and coffee. Room was super clean.
