It looks like my search for good Chinese food in Broward is still on. While some of the items at Canton Restaurant were okay, I'm not sure I'd seek it out again. I ordered their honey garlic chicken, roast pork with snow peas and mushrooms, and veggie lo mein for dinner with my family through Uber Eats. We put allergen information in our order notes along with a request for the restaurant to reach out if there were any related issues. They called about a few minutes after we submitted our order to let us know that the veggie lo mein was no good because they use peanut powder in the sauce (FYI for any nut allergy folks). They offered to replace it so we went with wonton soup and spring rolls instead. The items we originally ordered (pictured here) were pretty decent. I liked that the honey garlic chicken came mixed into the sauce as opposed to packed separately, and it was nice and crispy. The sauce had a good balance of garlic flavor and sweetness from the honey, neither was overpowering. The roast pork dish was also good, with plenty of tasty, well-cooked veggies and a flavorful brown savory sauce. I think there could have been more sauce on the chicken and some of the larger pork pieces were a bit tough, but overall, these were enjoyable. However, I was really unimpressed with the items that we added on to replace the lo mein. I love strong flavors in my food, but the broth of the wanton soup was so unbelievably salty that I couldn't drink it, it was genuinely making my throat burn. The wantons themselves were also a very off-putting pasty texture. The spring rolls were underwhelming as well, the filling was kind of mushy and they had an overwhelming flavor of carrot which I can't say I was fond if. The fortune cookies they threw in with our order were also so stale that they were bendy - a particularly unpleasant way to end the meal. Some items here were good, some were not. It was fine for one dinner but I will probably order elsewhere the next time I'm craving Chinese takeout. read more

I am seriously impressed by my first visit to Canton Restaurant for takeout. Happily they are just a three mile ride from my apartment and it took only 5 minutes to get here. Unfortunately they are in a shopping center that is virtually closed down due to COVID which made parking a snap, but they loose all the walk by traffic. They are very close to a few major developments so they still seem to have a robust pickup. I am extremely impressed with the signs reminding people that "MASKS ARE MANDATORY!" Multiple signs outside and multiple signs inside along with marking on the floor for six feet spacing. This is a cute shop with a few tables and chairs which they currently have closed off. They built a plastic wall for separation between staff and customers and have a big bottle of hand sanitizer on the counter for you to use as soon as you come in. Now, lets talk about the food. I made made my standard order of Wonton-Eggdrop mix soup and and a Roast Pork Egg Foo Young. No mater where I am this seems to be my goto. I was impressed with all the food and being a Long Islander, that carries some weight. Soup was rich and tasty and the two wontons were excellent. The egg roll was tasty and not greasy at all. Main meal of was delicious!!! Two large pancakes with a delicious sauce. I am used to the light brown gravy and they serve a darker and a little sweeter gravy. I reminded me of a hot and sour sauce. It was really good. Pancakes were not greasy at all and they gave me plenty of fried rice with ample pieces of pork. The service was perfect and the food cooked in just a few minutes. They really scored points on my first visit here which will definitely not be my last. read more

After verifying I had ordered at their site, the one through which I am posting this review, the lady on the phone simply stated, they had no order and couldn't do anything about it. I like it better when I choose the place we eat. This is just another average Chinese restaurant. I had number twenty eight, shrimp and lobster combo, and a pint of hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup was weird, loaded with onions, no meat or bamboo shoots and very watery. The shrimp and lobster sauce was salty and the pork fried rice had very little pork in it. Excellent Chinese food! We have ordered delivery from here several times and have had a few of their dishes and family combos. Their family combo prices are a steal for the amount of food you get. We got the combo C once and it lasted 4 or 5 meals. Tasted good reheated as well. I love how quick and easy the order placing process is. The lady who answers the phone is very polite and nice. She doesn't rush you off the phone like some other people from other restaurants do. Their delivery is very quick. They usually quote us 45 minutes but it takes about 20-30. Dinner combos come with rice and soup but you can sub out soup for egg rolls like we do sometimes. Their Krab Rangoons have a different thicker wrapper than most I've seen but they're still tasty. Just moved to the area and wanted to try some of the local takeout places. Food was okay and prices were fair.

I decided to order my "traditional" Christmas take-out dinner from Canton while visiting family in Tamarac this year and was very happy with both the quality and portion size the Szechuan Beef dinner, which included a cup of egg drop soup, a veggie spring roll (which they gladly substituted for the pork egg roll) and some crunchy Chinese noodles. The man who took my phone order warned me that they were extremely busy and made sure that an hour would be okay. I told him that was fine and they didn't ask for payment or even ask my name. They said I could just tell him what I ordered when I arrived. I drove over an hour after my call. There were 3 or 4 people waiting for their orders including a DoorDash driver. I told him what I had ordered, paid for the meal and was on the road with piping hot food after about 5-7 minutes! I will definitely order from Canton again the next time I'm in Tamarac. read more

I placed a pick up order from here. Food had been fresh and good for the most part. I think they've started skimping on the meat in the special fried rice (quart). I order from here prob once a month for about 2 yrs and the rice used to be full of meat but this last order had all the meat on top and when I got to the middle/bottom there was only a few pieces of pork. Rice was FRESH. I also ordered an egg roll and it was so hard that I broke it in half and it crumbled onto the plate over my rice. The inside was all dried out. I just ate the crumbled pieces that fell on my rice and threw the rest away. I dislike when I eat somewhere and it's so good and then I go back or time pass by and I return and the quality of the food goes down. Customer service was great tho. read more

Very fast work too, I was in between two showings in the theater and was able to order a meal and eat before the second showing. This place is very good for what it is. Got a shrimp chow mein lunch (had lots of vegetables!) with fried rice. I asked for a little spicy and they did that. The egg roll was very crunchy skinned which I liked. The cook-chef even said hello when I walked in. Amazing...lol. I have no complaints. I got take out but you can eat in and the interior is very nice looking. I have three Chinese restaurants near me and this is my fave. I went to pick up an order from Canton Chinese restaurant at w. McNab Rd., and I was very pleased to see their strict safety measures: The cook and his wife - who manages the register - were wearing masks and gloves, the whole front of the house area is separated from the customers with plastic, only take out or delivery no eat in, before taking the money she put on an additional pair of plastic gloves, there are signs on the floor at 6ft. when there are customers waiting and hand sanitizer available, also masks are required to enter. Anxious to try a new Chinese place for me-I ordered the combo meal boneless ribs pork fried rice it comes with an egg roll and your choice of soup egg drop or wonton-I asked her in advance if the ribs were going to be tender and she said yes-well for $13 the Xtra salty wonton soup, empty stale egg roll and some of the worst rice I've ever had-it seemed to be scraped off the bottom of the pan-the ribs were hit and miss the boneless ribs some were tender and some could break your teeth+now could it be my fault to order on a Sunday after 8:00 p.m.? Recently had them deliver for the first time in a few years and was impressed so decided to order again for Mother's Day. Like the last time they said about 45 minutes for delivery and it took only 25-30 minutes. The fried dumplings were amazing, the orange chicken great, the fried rice & egg rolls excellent, and very good wonton soup. As a new comer to this Chinese restaurant which I thought was brand new and I wrote this review based on that misconception that they just opened but I realized after reading others that they have been around for years to the tamarac area. Although I still believe but have not confirmed that new ownership has taken place within the last 8 -12 months. I've come to expect a high standard of quality, quantity, cleanliness and price because growing up and living the majority of my adult life in NYC where there's a Chinese restaurant on almost every block the competition is fierce to keep and get new customers. Things I am very critical are the following: from time of order to delivery received , as well as the best quality, taste and items offered for the lowest price. For years the only Chinese Restaurant I trusted was fortune dragon also in Tamarac. I was hesitant in trying Cantons because I've been so dissatisfied and regretted so many if not every other place that I swore I'd never stray again. One Monday night I was itching for fried dumplings and chicken and shrimp lo mein and fortune dragon is closed so I said F.. it and that's how my Canton relationship started and I'm glad because tonight's Monday and I have that same itch. They have surpassed all my expectations for a small mom and pop place in a dark strip center that I never go to. I have since ordered from there a bunch but my only complaints are the delivery time sucks so pick up is a better if your starving. Also I have had a few screw ups with special requests like no mushrooms but I'm a business man as well and have been in the restaurant business too so you really should give any new place time to settle into their own grove and consistency. But they have been excellent with fixing it. They have a few dishes that I wish fortune dragon would have but it's good that they don't because it keeps me on my toes in regards to not settling for mediocre. read more
