Ming Wah - Tamarac: I'd heard whispers for years about this hole-in-the-wall Peruvian-Chinese spot but always drove right past it--mostly because, let's be honest, the place looks like it hasn't seen a renovation since Nixon was in office. But curiosity finally won, and I'm glad it did. Ming Wah is pure old-school Chifa: no frills, unapologetically greasy, and weirdly charming. I ordered the fried wontons, the sopa de wantan especial, and the mixed chaufa (fried rice with pork, chicken, and shrimp). All solid. The soup especially was generous and surprisingly hearty--the small size ($8.95) could easily feed two, and the large is enough for four. The chaufa had all the right notes: smoky, just enough wok hei, and not overloaded with salt or MSG like you sometimes get at Chifa Taypa. That might actually be a plus for some folks--it's flavorful without being a sodium bomb. The fried wontons were crisp and classic. Nothing fancy, but they scratched the itch. The menu is tight for Chifa standards--hits all the usual suspects--but they've also got a full American-Chinese menu for those who want their General Tso fix. Prices are more than fair: $25 got me all three dishes, with regular-sized portions. The phone rang off the hook with takeout orders while I was there, and dine-in seems secondary. If you do eat in, leave a tip--these folks are working hard, and from what I saw, they're not seeing much appreciation from the dine-in crowd. I highly recommend this place. I've gone in to order. I've ordered through Uber Eats and directly. I recommend going in or calling directly. Give them all of your money! They make the food quickly. Each interaction is always professional and accurate. They are all friendly and helpful. If you dine inside, it's quiet. I am so glad I found this place and they will continue to get my business as long as I can. Their dinner specials are the best deal! A good sized meal, with an egg roll and soup for under $15. Excellent local Chinese restaurant. I am disabled, with a rare inherited type of leukodystrophy, so I rely on food deliveries and Ming Wah has excellent food & service. In particular, I enjoy their Cantonese style dishes. Like the fact that, unlike most south Florida Chinese restaurants, they use white meat in their Orange Chicken and do not have a lot of extraneous stuff, like peas, in their fried rice. My health aide often orders from them as well & also enjoys the food. We order direct from the restaurant. Very nice people too! read more

Lo Mein is a favorite in my house. I tried the general tsos chicken for the first time. Tasted like cornstarch and had no flavor, but looks delicious and lots of broccoli! Egg rolls are tasty, and good portions for the price. read more

For Chinese fried rice this is prob as close to NYC style as I've found in florida, most of the restaurants around use that yellow rice w the odd texture, Ming wah also has a peruvian menu available which is pretty delicious i wouldnt say its authentic but flavorwise its pretty good. Ming Wah Chinese Restaurant/Takeout has really taken a nosedive since the pandemic has entered our lives. I can remember when any of their dishes were tastefully prepared with care and the use of fresh ingredients but that is no longer the case. I ordered their Boneless Rib Dinner Special on Friday, 7/22/22 listed online and in their takeout menu for $10.95 yet was charged $11.55 plus a 50 cent upcharge for the Hot & Sour soup. The boneless ribs had a funny taste like they had been sitting for some time and each piece was half fat and inedible and had to be thrown away. When I called the restaurant on Saturday to let them know what had transpired the woman I spoke with asked what I would like them to do? I asked for a store credit for the poorly prepared meal that was tasteless and full of fat or a replacement but she refused to stand behind what they had sold and did not care that a customer was not satisfied with their product. Extremely poor customer service and poor food preparation. There are many other Chinese takeout restaurants in the Tamarac and Coral Springs area and I will find one to replace this one that no longer takes pride in what they prepare and does not abide by the prices that they advertise. read more

Given the fact that Ming Wah is quite literally on the other side of the world from the cuisine it's food hails from, I wasn't expecting that much when entering its doors. However, upon being greeted by the ultra friendly and personable waitress who was excited by meeting fellow chinese so far away from home, I eagerly anticipated the arrival of our food. We ordered steamed dumplings and fried rice, pretty standard dishes. I was so satisfied by the silky almost al dente texture of the dumpling skins, the slight crunch, flavor and bite of the vegetable and meat filling, in addition to the pleasantly surprising tangy and spicy accompanying plum sauce! When the fried rice arrived, It was delicious! Piping hot filled chockablock with fresh broccoli, corn, carrots, and sweet beans; each granule of rice perfectly fried and separated for maximum pleasure! A real delight and gem in the middle of this neighborhood! As someone who grew up in an Asian city traveling across China frequently, I'd recommend this place for anyone interested in trying out authentic chinese food with a real taste of home.
