We just had a few hours in Rome, and after a wonderful golf cart tour, I knew the one thing I wanted to do was try a porchetta sandwich before we left. We used yelp to find this place and hoofed it over in almost 100F weather. It's interesting, there are actually two Cantinas DEI Papi a couple of doors down from another . One was bustling and super busy and packed, the other empty. They claim they're the same place, I'm not sure why one was so much more popular. I ordered my porchetta, and it was yummy, but I think the walk in the heat made me not really able to eat much. Both shops are small and a little cramped, but clean and well kept.
What a gem! We stopped by for a little lunch on our busy day. We went for the board and oh my it was so delicious. They really made an diverse spread for us. Service was so quick! The space is small, but we got lucky and didn't have to wait!
I say this with complete honesty, the two sandwiches I had from here are probably the best I've had in my LIFE!!! This place is the epitome of a small Italian hole in the wall that is serving world class food. If you eat pork, then do yourself a favor and get a sandwich that has the porchetta on it, if the sandwich you want doesn't have porchetta then add it! Occasionally you eat foods that you later have daydreams about, their sandwiches reach that rarified air of greatness. If I ever go back to Rome again, the first thing I'm doing is getting a sandwich from here.
Came by for lunch on the way from Colosseum to Trevi Fountain. Nice and quiet, we were one of few people dining. We tried charcuterie boards - medium and small sizes. They come with a variety of meat, cheese, fruit and toasts with spreads. They had a good variety of tasty things and pretty to look at too. I had a glass of white wine. We also took a couple of sandwiches to go, including a porchetta and pork jowel (great porchetta, jowel was a bit much for a whole sandwich). They have multiple locations throughout Rome, so it is easy to find one nearby. Food is all very affordable.
Excellent. Not exactly like all the super authentic spots we experienced, the ones that maybe were not tourist spots. But, absolutely amazing! The space was clean, unique and inviting. The servers were spectacular. Much wine knowledge and able to explain dishes I was interested in eating before I left Rome. We ordered wine for ourselves from their extensive wine selection. We then had their amazing focaccia--yummmm!!! I went ahead and got the Carbonara and my partner got yet another meat board ;). (Seems this is all Italy has to offer for him). The food was simply delightful. The atmosphere was enchanting. I even forced myself to have a second glass of wine. #whynot We loved this place, the food, the people. Highly suggest. #wheninrome
Hard to beat such a good lunch near the Trevi fountain. We got a medium sized board of meat/cheese and we walked away very happy/satisfied. The meats were all fresh tasting, and the cheese was fantastic. I have to say the presentation was a nice touch to add on to how tasty the food was. This food would of cost double in the United States if you could even find it laid out like this in the first place. The employees were also very nice/helpful to us foreigners! Highly recommend coming in for a lunch or dinner if you want to try a bunch of different meats/cheeses for a cheap meal.
The reviews don't lie!! This place is truly phenomenal, so much so that we went 2 nights in a row on our trip! The restaurant is a small family owned shop in a nice street with ice cream stores, cafes, and other restaurants. There's no "official" menu, but some papers on the wall can help you make your food decision. We ordered a charcuterie board for 2 (mind you the boards change by day depending on what ingredients are available so keep that in mind). The board had a variety of breads, spreads, cheeses, and meats. The portion size was more than enough for 2 people. We also ordered a bottle of their house wine which was delicious and cheap (around 10-12 euros). Overall, the place has a great atmosphere, delicious food, and incredible prices! We will definitely be back :)
Meant to mention the prices are so affordable which makes this spot a hit! Was looking for a sandwich place and saw this place. It's tucked away so it's easy to miss. I was sceptical at first but the food was delicious, nothing fancy but really flavorful. The#27 was warmed up so the bread was soft which made it taste even better. Salad and the other sandwich without the bread was so good.
What can I say? This place was an amazing hidden gym. The reviews were spot on the food was amazing fresh we wanted some thing that was not just pasta or pizza. We got a charcuterie board and it was absolutely delicious.
I enjoyed my sandwich very much. A nice spot to visit if you're craving something smalls or just want to split something with someone. I like a simple sandwich, so I ordered one with cheese, apples and prosciutto.
My husband and I agree that this was the best sandwich we have ever had. I will truly be dreaming about this delicious sandwich when I am back in the states and at work. We had just finished a long tour of The Roman Forum and The Colosseum and we're absolutely famished. This restaurant is off a side street and could easily be overlooked so make sure to add this to your itinerary. We both had a veggie sandwich. The bread was soft and airy. We added fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes soaked in olive oil and basil, sautéed onions, artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, arugula and the best part was the zucchini which truly tasted like a pickle. The flavors of the vegetables were so rich that no extra condiments were needed. In the states, you often see people adding Mayo or mustard, but this sandwich has so much flavor that no condiments are needed. The lady who made our sandwich was nice and very hospitable. There are several tables available inside to sit at while you eat. I enjoyed sitting inside and looking around at the old pictures on the walls. I cannot recommend this place enough!! Truly the best sandwich I've ever had!

Perfect to stop by for a quick bite while walking around. The place is pretty tight but we were fortunate enough to arrive when a 2-person table was open. The staff is unbelievably friendly and speak English fluently. They pointed us to the English menu on the wall. We were hungry but not famished, so we got the small mixed plate for 2 and 2 glasses of the house red. It really hit the spot! 2 types of cured meat, I think a type of bologna, some bread with different olive spreads (maybe 1 type was olive, 1 type pesto?) and bread with more of a tomato based spread. There were some veggie slices like zucchini and squash and such. And cheese! Also the house red was really good, only €2.50/glass. The small mixed plate was €5/person, so total was €15. Really energetic atmosphere, people coming in and out. A lot of tourists, we overheard 2 other Americans trying to decipher the Italian menu so we showed them the English menu and what a small mixed plate for 2 looks like. Also some fun music, like electro swing. Got those on Shazam. read more

Seriously the most amazing charcuterie I've ever had! This place is absolutely mind blowing! It was so good, I came back to back nights while in Rome! Would've come back for a 3rd night but my husband said no, we needed to try other places while we were there! But honestly this restaurant is fabulous! The charcuterie platters are provided as small, medium, or large and comes with so much more than just meats and cheeses. They have a wonderful assortment of spreads and antipasti that comes with it. And having been here twice, I noticed that it's never the same! Depending on who builds your board, you'll get different accompaniments! Loved every bit of it! One of my favorite things we had was the truffle spread. OH MY GAHHHHHH... I could eat it every day and would have, if I ever could find it before I left the country. Yes, most likely there will be a wait when you go and since we were staying very close to the restaurant, could ALWAYS see a line building, but it's worth every minute. Tip - we went the second night around 5pm with little wait! So maybe that's a good time being that Europeans eat much later than Americans?! And the price was great! A medium board for 2 was 20 euros and filled us up! Add in the great prices for wine and beer and you end up with a wonderful meal! I am a charcuterie snob and nothing has or will EVERRRRR live up to this place! Til next time... be still my beating heart... read more

Stop by for an incredible charcuterie board and wine, this place is small and low key. They will make you something beautiful, delicious and more authentic than any of the other prosciutterias in the touristy areas. read more
We chose this place based on Tripadvisor reviews and photos. We came here once and it was enjoyable. Here was our experience. FOOD The food was delicious. I believe they mainly service the meats and cheeses platters along with alcoholic drinks like bear and wine. Here is how they serve and charge for the food. The platters come in small, medium, and large. They charge per person and depending on the size of the platter. For example, we ordered a medium platter it was about $10 euros per person. So that mean would be $20 Euros total. Then we order two glasses of wine. Our total for a medium platter for two and two glasses of wine was $29 Euros total. THE RESTAURANT We really enjoyed the layout of the restaurant. It was small and very cultural for the lack of a better description. Wines were on racks on the wall. The side table with a place to hang your wine glasses. The box crates as your seats really made our experience authentic. You get the feeling of how locals hangout in this place. CUSTOMER SERVICE The men behind the counter were very helpful, but they seemed really busy. They were nice, but their customer service was acceptable. TIPS They have a restroom. Use the Rome Tripadvisor app to help you find this place. The medium platter is more than enough for a couple. read more

When in Rome, do as the Romans do right? This is perfect place to get some apps and drinks before dinner. This small, local spot was the best place my friend and I went to throughout our time in Rome. They have a great selection of meats, cheeses and red/white wines you can choose from. From my experience, you can choose a small, medium or large charcuterie board of their choosing of what types of meat and cheeses on them. We were originally going to choose a small, but the guy at the counter told us to get a medium and I'm glad we did. No need to choose your meats and cheeses because they will do all that for you! Everything was so fresh and you could really tell they really care for the quality of their meats and cheeses. The board had different types of fruit, as well as different types of spreads on soft bread which really complemented everything. They also give you a small bowl of bread with your board. I ordered a glass of sauvignon blanc, and my friend ordered another white wine which was literally the best we've had in Rome so far. I think that says a lot about this place and how great this establishment is. Tip: -I know this sounds cliche coming from a tourist, but this place is NOT touristy at all! The surrounding area is full of tourists, but surprisingly this place wasn't as busy as I assumed, we waited only 10 mins! -They also have other dishes as well! (Pastas, sandwiches, etc) -Our seats were pretty cramped, but instead of waiting for a table, sit on the stools across from the counter! We had the cutest wine holders I've seen. They should make stuff like this in San Francisco! This will be the first place I'm heading to whenever I come back to Rome! read more
While in Rome, I was advised by a friend who was a local to come here. Located right by the Trevi Fountain. If you like cheese, cured meats and bread, you HAVE to come here. The place is small and has very limited seating, but for 20 euros you get a platter of meats/cheeses/bread that's enough to feed 2. The only place we ate at in Rome that has water on tap vs bottled water. The staff are friendly and lively. There's also free WIFI so you can check in! read more

Best hole in the wall in the Trevi area. All kinds of meats, cheese and vegetables and fruits to make a nice spread to accompany with a glass of wine...or two or tree or. Due to the language barrier I just simply ordered the mixed choice and I let them decide what to put in it. Well it was a great idea that we went for seconds. The meats are so good that you want to try it all! We also got red wine (sweet) Grapplolo D'Oro Schioppettino that went extremely well with our plate. Service was excellent and friendly, prices were decent, cleanliness seemed good. The music was modern beats. read more
We came across this place when walking around the Trevi Fountain area. We ordered the small plate for two and a bottle of Prosecco. The amount of food was perfect and the staff were very friendly. The staff picks what they put on each plate so every plate is different. The place was a little small but very cozy. This place is great to get some great meat, cheese and spreads. read more

You can't miss this place if you love good toscany food...! Their prosciutto, porchetta, salami, and Italian cheese selection...just fabulous. We repeat same prosciutto plate cause it was too good to finish just one order. The only complaint was that each tables was so tiny and not flat So you have to watch out your wine glasses... Staffs were kind and friendly, definitely come back when we have chance to travel Rome again. read more
My favorite meal in Italy was right here. My boyfriend and I came with friends (based on their recommendation) midday for lunch. We were seated within minutes, but this tiny place had almost all their tables full. This place is very DIY since they do not have a restaurant license so they cannot "serve" us. Which is fine, we had no issues ordering at the counter and getting our own forks and knives. Their meat platters, which is a MUST TRY, comes in sizes and is per person. €5 for the small, €10 for the medium, and €15 for the large. The people working behind the counter speaks very limited English and basically told us that the meat platter differs from table to table and is a random mixture based on how they feel?? Not sure if anything was lost in translation there, but looking around, it does seem that they put a variety of combos per each platter. Definitely get the platter because you get a variety of meats. They were all very good but my favorite was the ham drizzled in sweet balsamic vinegar (I'm going to try to do this at home from now on!) They also serve sandwiches and pasta dishes. The house wine, ordered by our friends, is €2,50. Unfortunately I am not a wine drinker, but even I was in awe at the price per glass. The decor & atmosphere of this place is super cool (although cramped). It is very hipster and intimate - a great place to carry a convo with friends and enjoy authentic Italian cold cuts & snacks. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Rome. You will be missing out if you do not pay this place a visit! P.S. Their bathroom is also pretty cool in a weird grungy dungeon kind of way. read more

Great experience there. Most of the people that worked there spoke English so that helped. We got the medium mixed platter for 20 euros. (10 reach perdon) I wish I knew what some of the meats were called but it was all very good. Its not a restaurant so don't expect normal waiter/tress service. They were still very nice read more

Amazing place and absolutely a Must-see when you're around Trevi. The red Dandy wine was fantastic, the mixed plate (medium - 10€ per person) stunning and the bread so delicious. I would love to have a place like this where I live! read more

Absolutely adored this place. Stumbled upon it on our way to site seeing. It's small and tiny and truly a hole in the wall kind of place but has its own sense of humor. With signs like tips for the waiters fake hair and the waitress fake boobs. Just cracks me up. The owner was kind enough to give us gals a round of drink on the house while we wait for our meat to be carved and served on a cutting board. Filled with cheeses and spreads along with fresh baked bread. The best sardine ever tasted was in this place. One thing I miss most is food in Rome and of course everything else. read more

Place was ok. Super cramped. Boards where good but not amazing. May be good for a quick glass of wine and run. Not a place to sit and enjoy. Would not go back. read more
Really enjoyed this place. We went around 5pm after a long day of walking around Rome. It's hard to find but worth the trek. Also not a lot of seating but we enjoyed the vibe and of course loved the house wine that fellow yelpers recommended for only a few euros! We got a "board" to share for 10 euros which included lovely cheese, bread, olives, spreads and meats. Rob also wanted a prosciutto and cheese sandwich which was also very enjoyable. Everything was very fresh and tasty. I think the total bill came to 20 euros so very affordable too! Great spot for a pre-dinner bite and drink! read more

I'm so glad I found this place on Yelp. It was everything I could ever dream of! Haha. Definitely a nice break from eating pizza and pasta all day. The place is small. So not many people can eat there at once. They don't have their restaurant license so you can't crowd in the restaurant either and they can't give out menus. There are menus all around the restaurant walls though. The staff tries to accommodate as many people as they can without being "illegal." I felt like they were very friendly towards tourists. My friends and I end up getting the medium meat platter and the fruit platter. We also ordered a white wine that was recommended by the staff. The wine was sweet and paired nicely with the food. The meats were deliciously cured. The cheeses tasted great and the bread was soft. The fruit platter was also tasty. The fruits were sweet and complimented the meat/cheese platter well. I would recommended this place for a nice, light lunch or dinner. I'm still dreaming about the platters haha! read more

Oh my this place was amazing. The two girls behind the counter had so much knowledge about the cheeses and meats, that I let them make a cheese and meat board of their own creation. 30 euros for a bread and cheese board and it was enough to fill about 3-4 people. Each board comes with bread that is fresh baked. The cheese and meats were incredible to say the least. The wine selection is also marvelous. Don't miss out on this place!!!! read more

This is the only place we found that was not a tourist trap in Rome so far! This place has great cold meat and cheese mixed plate which is so generous that you can finish three wine bottles. The price for both the plate and wine are reasonable and the meat quality is pretty good. read more

Holy mackerel was this place good! We tried coming here two weeks ago, but it was jam packed and we were starving. We made sure to beat the lunch rush this time, so we would get a table and a sandwich. We got there just before noon and barely beat the lunch rush. I had a tomato, mozzarella sandwich that was definitely the best sandwich I've ever had. The ingredients were fresh and abundant, with the perfect bread: filling ratio. My husband had the pork sandwich and he was in heaven. We are definitely glad we returned to enjoy a sandwich and this place will definitely become a must if we are ever in Rome again. read more

Hello. I'm in love with this place. It is tiny and you will have to wait on line for a seat of you get there for dinner time. Worth the wait. We tried to come our first night in Rome but the wait was 8 people deep and we were so jet lagged we just wanted to eat something at that point. I'm so glad we were able to eat here before we left. Mixed platter for 2, 3 glasses of wine, burrata bruschetta = 50€ read more
My fiancé and I found this place prior to visiting Rome and put it on our go-to list. I think if we wouldn't have it wouldn't be somewhere we would have just casually walked into, but we are so glad we did! We were greeted by one of the friendly workers right upon entering, who offered to help us out and explained all the different meat and cheese (and vegetable too) plates to us. We decided to get the large plate, as we were hungry and this was our first meal in Rome upon flying in from the airport! The worker also explained that they cannot serve beside the table so we ordered the meat and cheese board at the register and brought it to our table on our own. We also ordered a bottle of wine to share. The board was 15 euros per person for the large and the wine we ordered was 18 euros. There are 5 low tables with bench seats and I believe 2 more high top seating areas. When we came in only one couple was seated and we luckily got a seat right away. As we started eating the area quickly filled up and all the low bench seating areas were full. We would definitely recommend this place to someone visiting Rome. The food was delicious and the service and staff were very welcoming and friendly. After finishing our meat and cheese board we walked over to the Trevi fountain and finished the night off with some gelato nearby. There is also free wifi. :) read more
I was really expecting something amazing, which is a sure way to be disappointed and I was. We ordered a meat & cheese tray for 2 and a cheese tray for 1. The portions were not ridiculously large, as I expected from the photos. The variety was not insanely delightful, although there were really tasty options on both boards. And the communication was very difficult with the people who worked there. Either they spoke no English or they preferred not to, so I wasn't really able to communicate my preferences (as other reviewers stated they did). The wine was great, the atmosphere was cozy and the food was good. The bill was a bit higher than I thought it should be, but again - communication was not an option. Overall, this is a cute little place near Trevi Fountain that serves nice platters in a hole in the wall location. It feels like the right thing to do. read more

Absolutely amazing. We told the ladies at the counter we wanted a medium charcuterie board and they went to work creating something just for us. This place is incredible!! As a person who enjoys large portions and trying all kinds of foods, this place is perfect. The staff was friendly and even put a couple extra things on my platter that I asked about. I came here around 11 pm and the restaurant was still fairly full because there is not much seating. As many others point out, there are €10, €15, and €20 per person options. I opted for the €20 platter and had a hard time finishing all of it. Can not recommend this place enough!! read more

Love everything about this place! The staff were so friendly and fun. We had to wait for a table but became friends with another couple and shared a table. The food was incredible, amazing deletion of meat and cheese with accompaniments, I love the concept. We ordered a bottle of wine which we had to open and pour ourselves, it felt like being at home with a bunch of new friends!! Can't wait to go back next time we're in Rome. read more
No wonder this place is one of the most rated and top restaurants in Rome. It truly is a hidden gem! I'm so glad we ate here on our first night in Rome. This place is very small so be prepared to fight your way in and snatch a table, which can't really be called a table since there are bar stools and a wooden panel on the wall. You have the option between 3 charcuterie boards: small, medium and large. Of course we went with large, only 30€. What you see is what you get here. Everything is made right in front of your eyes. No hidden agenda. All the side dishes are made in small batches and they are placed behind a glass refrigerator so you're able to see the beautiful display of deliciousness. The huge pig thighs are used the decorations, the salami and the ham is displayed beautifully behind the glass. Which we waited we treated ourself to a 8€ bottle of wine. Shortly after our display of goodness was ready. The place is so tiny that the lovely worked was able to reach over the glass refrigerator and hand us over the board with a side of metal pot full of extra fresh baked bread. we wasted no time! We dug on and dug in hard. It was all so incredible delicious. The olives, melon, prosciutto, salami, apples, jam, pickled radish, pickles, pickles onions, I mean I can go on and on and on about the endless things that were on that board. It was one of the best meals we had in all of Italy. I highly recommend this place. And when I do go back to Italy I'll be sure to stop here again! read more
