This is mostly independent living but they also have assisted living and skilled nursing if your loved one will need it, so they can get comfortable there and stay there. A really good place that gives you nice vibes, not only about the living quarters, but also about the people who work there, who are genuine and kind. I feel really confident about Forest Hill. There are some great reviews that are 'not recommended' for some reason. That's why I made the decision to check them out. Those reviewers aren't wrong.

Some residents get excellent care while others are all but ignored. The administration is inexperienced and lacks management skills. The food is awful with some of the worst tasting and poorly prepared food I've ever tasted. No attention is paid to balanced meals or special needs diets. Laundry service is an absolute joke. If someone can be found to wash clothes or bedding, it may take 24 hours or more to have it returned. The longer it takes to be returned the more likely it will be lost. Clothing will quickly deteriorate because no attention is paid to separating colored from whites and high heat is used to dry everything. On the bright side, the campus is beautiful, cleaning is skillfully handled, and there is an engaged activities director. Residents are friendly and easy to get to know.

He and I walked into Carmelo Park and immediately knew that it would be a wonderful place for my mother. We had initially visited Songbird, their Salinas location, because we know two other families who have loved ones residing there, but felt that Carmelo Park was a better fit for mom. It has been nearly two years since she moved in and she has adjusted well. Sadly, I can tell you that there are other, larger, facilities on the Monterey Peninsula where staff members do not even know the names or medical conditions of the residents they serve. That is not the case with Carmelo Park. The staff treat my mom like family because it is run by a family, not a large corporation. From the activities, parties, snacks, and music, to the loving care she receives, we couldn't have asked for more regarding mom's care. I can wholeheartedly recommend Carmelo Park and feel that their caring staff and administrators have been a blessing in all our lives. The food is like a gourmet restaurant. And the wait staff are excellent. They are patient and remember everyone's favorite order. There are other nice assisted living facilities in this area, but the people at Ivy Park Monterey make the difference. The manager Kellie is running a top-notch operation. Carina and the care staff are always present and anticipating what my mother needs. And they are so kind. Jenny plans the most awesome activities and celebrations. Birthdays and holidays are always special! Maria and Josh in the medical office are super professional and on it. Kathie at the front desk may be the nicest most helpful person I have ever met. She personifies the tone of the facility - happy, helpful and caring. I couldn't give the home a higher recommendation. It is an excellent place to live.
