He did not feel cared for or seen by the staff on a regular basis. There was always something more " time sensitive" that needed attention. When he went home he needed strong antibiotics. I called CVS 3 times since he arrived home-no prescriptions called in. Called the nursing staff-said that they sent it in. Was "in CVS's hands". Long story short: apparently CVS needs a digital request sent in and the nurses would only send it by fax. NURSES REFUSED TO SEND IN ELECTRONICALLY OR TALK TO CVS ON OUR BEHALF. The next morning, 14 HOURS WITH NO ANTIBIOTICS, thankfully I remembered the social worker on site. Called her (an Angel on Earth!), told her what was happening. Within an hour she had my father's antibiotics being filled at CVS. She apologized for the hardships caused us on their behalf. Never had a follow-up call from the nurses. I would NEVER recommend them for any type of care, for young or old alike.

Mind you their was a family member with her 24/7 until she was called home. Does that make a difference - maybe but the staff was attentive to other patients just the same. Its not a happy place - people are at various stadges of health and some are dying. That's life - to complain that enough was not done? Well some folks are never happy and others are selfish with there time and expect more than what can be offered. Think before you complain - was there something I could have done at that time to change the outcome. As for theft - items of value should be left at home! And likely it still could have come up missing - if there was sentimental value. Its possibly been secured by a family member... Thank you to all

They helped her live her last days with dignity and grace. They were responsive to her needs, although she was somewhat non-communicative. She was bathed daily and cleaned up on a regular schedule. The staff has been more that accommodating to our family's requests. They are truly an exceptional group to work with. My experience with my mother being a resident here has all been very positive. I find that if you have a loved one here it is very important that you are present that you visit often and get to know the staff. The CNA's took very good care of my mother and communicated well with our private caregivers. They were always attentive to all her needs and worked as a team with our private caregivers. The Nurses were exceptionally caring by making sure my mother took her meds with chocolate pudding. The activities staff were enthusiastic and caring; the kitchen staff were attentive to my mother's preferences in food. The entire staff is to be commended for the professional way they go about difficult job they have. Once again, I would say that if you do have a loved one in care anywhere you should visit them often. I think that really affects their care, when the staff knows that your loved one is not just being dropped off but instead they are still an active part of their family. My mother recently passed away April 13, 2022 she had dementia. For years, we care for her at home and as she progressed, we had to make that hard decision to place her here. We are so fortunate to have found this place for my mother, how all the staff took such great care of her. I want to thank the administration Carole Dorsey, RN Director of Nursing Services for accommodating our whole family to be able to see my mom on her last moments of life, and Thank you to all the staff for the kindness and wonderful care you showed for my mother. Although we are still grieving her passing, it is a comfort to know that she was at the right place being cared for by the right people. Thanks so much for taking great care of my mom. I am so happy I decided on Canterbury Woods. Their nursing personnel are their greatest asset. I had a complicated med administration schedule with multiple overlapping medical diagnoses that would have caused havoc at a facility that wasn't as patient-centered and flexible. A culture of respect and care seemed to be strong at every level of the organization's structure. I observed administrators frequently interacting with staff and patients . The environment was homey, not clinical or stark. There were some oddities-such as the location of the shower facilities, but these were comparatively minor quirks. There was a bright activity room that encouraged patient interaction and an adjacent sunny flower filled patio available for patients. I was struck by the level and quality of staff-patient interactions and noted that the staff wasn't permanently attached to computers but focused on patients and their needs. A tech from CHOMP comes once a week to do blood draws, the in-house physician read my file before she saw me on her "rounds" She was observant, sensitive, listened , was compassionate, and did a good job coordinating my care. Some of the other highlights? The OT and PT staffs are superior. The food is incredible, and there is a set "comfort food" menu available for every meal service if the options on offer aren't appealing. I know I am forgetting something, but whatever it is most likely positive.

The Independent Living Facility provides delicious meals, supportive living on a personalized scale, and options for meaningful and engaging social activities. All of this takes place in a clean, serene, and beautiful environment. This multi-level care community is a truly special place, by far the best in the County in my opinion. Thank you to each and every staff who make this place so fantastic.

We had initially visited Songbird, their Salinas location, because we know two other families who have loved ones residing there, but felt that Carmelo Park was a better fit for mom. It has been nearly two years since she moved in and she has adjusted well. Sadly, I can tell you that there are other, larger, facilities on the Monterey Peninsula where staff members do not even know the names or medical conditions of the residents they serve. That is not the case with Carmelo Park. The staff treat my mom like family because it is run by a family, not a large corporation. From the activities, parties, snacks, and music, to the loving care she receives, we couldn't have asked for more regarding mom's care.
