Simply, this place is all in it for the money. There is absolutely zero genuine care, healing or recovering occurring here. I had very poor and abnormal therapy sessions with Dani. Find out days after I left, Dani was fired. Also, they only have one counselor for 30+ residents, and Peter, is lacking in many skills and experience that is necessary for counseling at a residential treatment center. While my stay at New Start (now Sierra Health), Mr. Peter Torres lacks many tangible and interpersonal skills and just overall counseling experience to be a suitable candidate in such positions especially being the lone counselor at a facility where individuals are at the worst, rock bottom of their lives and are seeking true and genuine healing and help while away from their families and careers. Not to mention, everything is falling apart here. All of their hands sanitizers and soap dispensers are empty, and I got extremely sick while staying here with severe influenza. When I asked nursing staff for medicine, they informed me they ran out and it took 3 days of suffering and in pain until they got some mucinex. At one point, there was not one client or staff members that did not get sick within the same month. RUN from here!

That's not what this review is about. This is about Sydney. I was refered to Bay Physical Therapy for pain which increased when I swam (usually 1.5 miles, three times a week), and during sex. I understand that the topic of sex can make people uncomfortable, but it is an important quality of life issue, and my doctor was so reasonable with his "yes, if this is impacting your ability to have sex, that is an important thing and I want to help you solve this, while the therapist I saw seemed really uncomfortable with the idea that I want to have sex that doesn't leave me in pain for days. I recognize that recent grads are going to have limited experience, but I felt my needs were very much beyond her skill levels. It happened that most of the other patients that I saw her treating were ones who were seniors who are rehabbing from surgery. I'm an athletic middle-aged person and she really didn't seem to understand that that is different from someone who just had their knee rebuilt and wants to be able to walk across a room with minimal assistance. I felt like she really had no clue and no skill. When I eventually grew too frustrated with her lack of attention, I said I was done and that I was leaving. She was confused. I said that working with her was a waste of her time and mine. When I left, I canceled all my remaining appointments, and the receptionist asked why, and I said I was unwilling to work with Sydney. While I generally found the receptionist helpful, I was disappointed that she did not offer to reschedule me with another practicioner, and that no one reached out to me.

I am so happy I decided on Canterbury Woods. Their nursing personnel are their greatest asset. I had a complicated med administration schedule with multiple overlapping medical diagnoses that would have caused havoc at a facility that wasn't as patient-centered and flexible. A culture of respect and care seemed to be strong at every level of the organization's structure. I observed administrators frequently interacting with staff and patients . The environment was homey, not clinical or stark. There were some oddities-such as the location of the shower facilities, but these were comparatively minor quirks. There was a bright activity room that encouraged patient interaction and an adjacent sunny flower filled patio available for patients. I was struck by the level and quality of staff-patient interactions and noted that the staff wasn't permanently attached to computers but focused on patients and their needs. A tech from CHOMP comes once a week to do blood draws, the in-house physician read my file before she saw me on her "rounds" She was observant, sensitive, listened , was compassionate, and did a good job coordinating my care. Some of the other highlights? The OT and PT staffs are superior. The food is incredible, and there is a set "comfort food" menu available for every meal service if the options on offer aren't appealing. I know I am forgetting something, but whatever it is most likely positive.

The Skilled Nursing Facility staff manage daily challenges with grace, skill, personalized attention, and good humor. The Assisted Living Facility staff cater to a residents with a wide range of needs and abilities, providing the most reliable and consistent care of any ALF I have seen. The Independent Living Facility provides delicious meals, supportive living on a personalized scale, and options for meaningful and engaging social activities. All of this takes place in a clean, serene, and beautiful environment. This multi-level care community is a truly special place, by far the best in the County in my opinion. Thank you to each and every staff who make this place so fantastic.

Mind you their was a family member with her 24/7 until she was called home. Does that make a difference - maybe but the staff was attentive to other patients just the same. Its not a happy place - people are at various stadges of health and some are dying. That's life - to complain that enough was not done? Well some folks are never happy and others are selfish with there time and expect more than what can be offered. Think before you complain - was there something I could have done at that time to change the outcome. As for theft - items of value should be left at home! And likely it still could have come up missing - if there was sentimental value. Its possibly been secured by a family member... Thank you to all

They helped her live her last days with dignity and grace. They were responsive to her needs, although she was somewhat non-communicative. She was bathed daily and cleaned up on a regular schedule. The staff has been more that accommodating to our family's requests. They are truly an exceptional group to work with. My experience with my mother being a resident here has all been very positive. I find that if you have a loved one here it is very important that you are present that you visit often and get to know the staff. The CNA's took very good care of my mother and communicated well with our private caregivers. They were always attentive to all her needs and worked as a team with our private caregivers. The Nurses were exceptionally caring by making sure my mother took her meds with chocolate pudding. The activities staff were enthusiastic and caring; the kitchen staff were attentive to my mother's preferences in food. The entire staff is to be commended for the professional way they go about difficult job they have. Once again, I would say that if you do have a loved one in care anywhere you should visit them often. I think that really affects their care, when the staff knows that your loved one is not just being dropped off but instead they are still an active part of their family. My mother recently passed away April 13, 2022 she had dementia. For years, we care for her at home and as she progressed, we had to make that hard decision to place her here. We are so fortunate to have found this place for my mother, how all the staff took such great care of her. I want to thank the administration Carole Dorsey, RN Director of Nursing Services for accommodating our whole family to be able to see my mom on her last moments of life, and Thank you to all the staff for the kindness and wonderful care you showed for my mother. Although we are still grieving her passing, it is a comfort to know that she was at the right place being cared for by the right people. Thanks so much for taking great care of my mom.
