We were in the area and looking for a nice place for a late lunch. We came in and there were some patrons waiting for to go orders. It took a little longer than expected to be seated even though there appeared to be plenty of tables available. Once seated our server took our drink and appetizer order and a few minutes later brought our warm buttery garlic bread. We had the mushrooms which were very good but different than what we've had before. My partner had the lasagna which was really delicious. I had the chicken and vegetable salad. It was different but good. Overall, we found the food was decent. The service was great and staff was friendly. It's out of our way so I don't think we would return unless we are in the area again. read more

I went for a party, so we sat in the back of the restaurant. The waiter was nice and polite. The price was fair. The food portion was decent. The sauce was a little too rich and heavy. I felt a little sick with the richness and oiliness of the sauce. I didn't like the sausage, it was grainy tasting. read more

We were greeted and seated immediately upon walking in. The ambiance is warm and cozy. Soft lighting and lots of booths and tables throughout. Our server checked on us frequently and was efficiently friendly. Complimentary bread was tasty with lots of butter just how I like it! We started with the appetizer sampler which probably could have been a meal by itself (huge). Ordered a bottle of chianti that wasn't listed on the menu and we enjoyed it especially given the great price ($32). My wife had the eggplant Parmesan and I ordered the spaghetti carnivore. Each entree came with a soup or salad so we got one of each. The pasta fagioli soup was nice. Would order it again. My wife's dish was pretty good, but having just made the same dish recently, I am pretty sure they skipped the step of salting the eggplant for at least 1.5hrs. This draws the moisture out and softens the eggplant flavor a bit. It was still good, just not what my wife was expecting. The spaghetti was decent. I thought the sauce was going to be more meaty but it seemed more like a regular tomato sauce to me. Portions were huge so you will definitely leave feeling satiated. We enjoyed our experience overall, but temper your expectations and don't expect authentic Italian fare and your score will probably be closer to 5 stars. read more

My only complaint is that I live over two hours from this place. The food is incredible it is exactly what I think of when I think old school Italian American. I used to go here FOR YEARS but the quality and service has gone downhill. Don't bother calling in an order because they NEVER ANSWER the phone. Don't bother ordering online because you'll never get a confirmation of your order. Their food is mediocre AT BEST. It's time to look elsewhere for an Italian restaurant. read more

Came to this spot due to locals recommending it. The hostess seated us right away, and we waited...and waited...and waited...a server didn't even come up to greet us, to let us know they'd be right with us --NOTHING. Finally, about 15 mins later, a girl with dark hair and an attitude that communicated she didn't want to be there, came by and asked what drinks we wanted. I ordered a margarita and she came back saying they didn't have it apparently...then she scurried off without asking if we were ready to order food, even though we'd been clearly sitting there for close to 25 mins, which is certainly enough time to think of what I'd like to order. Then, she just never came back LOL. Girl, it's Monday afternoon, it's not even busy?! Anyway, I wasn't interested in dealing with a rude server for the entire duration of my meal, where I'd likely have to hunt her down to get a refill, so we left. Which, I'm sure she was happy about because it didn't seem like she wanted to have a job in the first place, given she can't even do a basic task. The service is pathetic at best. read more

We usually eat their at least twice a month and the food is very good. Some of the best pizza in Chino. Thanks for Birthday wish but usually a business sends a free appetizer or desert or even a bogo. Staff is always friendly and very nice cozy place. 1st time here and very Impressed. Very short wait time for a Friday night. Cozy comfortable mom and pop feel inside. My family went a little overboard ordering way more than we could possibly eat in one sitting. The menu was so amazing it was difficult not to try it all. Soo sooo soooo good! It was an amazing dinner experience here at Cannataros! Our server Ashley was exceptional and so nice! I had the Wedding soup and it knocked my socks off! Order the roast beef dip and it was exquisite! Bread soft as a down feather pillow and loaded with tons of beef! And don't get me started on the Butter Cake!!! This is my 4th visit....in the past, I with families for celebration, just because, and to go orders. This place is super pack on Fridays and Saturdays! Come early! They close on Sundays! I came here with a wonderful friend of mine for lunch on Monday right after they opened. It was perfect. Majority of the guests came in after 12 pm. There are so many delicious entrees to choose from: Appetizer starters, Soup/Salad, Seafood, Baked Pasta, Pasta, Pizza, Chicken/Beef, Sandwiches, Dessert, Drinks, Wine, etc. Here what we ordered: 5 out 5 - Garlic knots are served with Marinara or Alfredo sauce. We picked Alfredo. Somehow, it didn't go together, and we asked our wonderful waiter to bring us the Marinara sauce. It was delicious with or without the sauce. 5 out of 5- Complimentary Garlic bread. Delicious. 5 out 5 - Shrimp Scampi in white wine garlic sauce with House Salad. Super Yum! 5 out 5 -Chicken Alfredo lunch special with Fagioli soup. It was fresh and super delicious. The indoor dining decor is beautiful. The bathroom is very nice and clean. My friend and I will definitely be coming back to try other entrees. I am recommending all the Italian food lovers to come check it out. Food is amazing and authentic. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Julie C.

Julie grew up working in her parent's Italian restaurant where she learned recipes from her family in Calabria, Italy. She dreamed of owning her own restaurant someday but never thought it would be a reality. So with her family's encouragement, she started looking for the right opportunity. She found it right here in Chino, and after 15 years of hard work and determination they are still going strong! Julie is so grateful for the support of her great team of hard workers and the Chino community for helping her live her dream!

How come when I ordered the capellini pomodora with shrimp the price for the shrimp add-on is $6 online when the printed receipt said $4? I paid $2 more when ordered online than what it said on the printed receipt.

Probably no more than 40 people in the back room and that would be tight. Vince's Spaghetti in Ontario has private rooms that can accommodate the number of people you are looking for and their Italian food is very good.

Unfortunately, we do not make our pasta in house! On occasion we do make the gnocchi, but most we purchase as we do not have the space to lay out the pasta when making it from scratch!

If you want crab and shrimp together, you're forced to buy them separately, and it's not cheap The only upside was that they had a deal where if you spend over $70 before tax, you get a free item from a selected list. Also, the crab meat and shrimp themselves were very meaty and fresh, which is the main reason I'm giving this place two stars instead of one. Overall, I wouldn't return. The food , service and price just weren't worth it.

One thing not noted on the menu is that shrimp isn't peeled, but they can peel them for an extra $6. And each order comes in pound increments. No half a pound offered. Your table is also covered with paper so you can eat the seafood boil from there. They provide bibs and gloves for no charge. Ultimately, we enjoyed our meals. Everything was flavorful and, unlike some other seafood boil spots, it didn't leave us feeling like we had heartburn afterward. There's a little sink for you to clean your hands at, which is nice since you dont have to wait for the restroom to empty. The service is what was a bit off. Like we asked for 3 Cajun fry boats but only received 2. Drinks were mixed up, and the clam chowder didn't arrive until about 20 minutes after our seafood bags had already been delivered. If you want ranch for your fries, they charge 60 cents for a small container. For drink refills, they bring a pitcher, but it's the kind typically used for measuring ounces. The server also tended to reach across one end of the table to grab empty cups or pass out food. Since I was seated at the end, it felt awkward having to help pass things down, especially since there were other access points to reach people in our party. We left around 920pm. I only mention it because we were the last group there, and we all noticed the heater seemed to have been turned on. Restaurant sign says open til 10pm on Sat. but we saw them turn off their open sign when we went outside. Needless to say, service could have been better.
